The Hobbit Hole VII - But not yet weary are our feet...
Posted on 03/15/2004 1:45:41 PM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
But not yet weary are our feet...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Say... belt-fed... hmmm... I hadn't thought of that. Should've too... dang. Thanks for the idea.

Hopefully we can chat a bit before you leave work! Except...my day is likely to be beyond insane.
I can do with the pictures! And I hopefully at least can make SOME visits to you! I want to see mountains!

"I'm driving near a lake, and the road keeps getting nearer and nearer to the water, until eventually the road is covered by water and disappears... variations include driving on a road in the country which eventually turns into a trail and then disappears, or driving on a road under construction and suddenly realizing the construction isn't finished (usually as my car flies off the end of the uncompleted overpass...)"
BLACK SCREEN
A desert wind moans sadly. From somewhere within the wind
comes the tinkly, syrupy-sweet sounds of the Lennon Sisters
singing "My Favorite Things." A series of sepia images of
anti-war protests from the mid-sixties appear one after
another on the screen.
In the violently scrawled style of Ralph Steadman, the title
FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS splashes onto the screen. A
beat, and then it runs down and off revealing:
TITLE: "He who makes a beast of himself
Gets rid of the pain
Of being a man."
Dr. Johnson
The VOICE OF HUNTER S. THOMPSON -- a.k.a. RAOUL DUKE:
DUKE (V/O)
We were somewhere around Barstow on
the edge of the desert when the
drugs began to take hold.

but eventually the passages get so narrow I can't move.
Sometimes I have one like that if I sleep in a tight spot like a sleeping bag.
To: TalonDJ
Well...I MIGHT be able to handle THAT rule - the old and new and borrowed and blue one. But I know nuffin about the proper number of attendants and what you're supposed to do about the invitations and all that.
Maybe I'll just elope.
But considering I ain't got nobody to elope WITH, I guess I don't have to worry.

Part of your busy-ness meant that there weren't any stats this week, right? Also, what's Rose's excuse? You two need to help keep us in line... we had a brief SF discussion earlier this week and could have used your input.

A lot of my friends an co-workers have gotten married recently and watching them prepare makes me think elopment is the way to go. Except that mom would kill me later.
To: RosieCotton
Attendants: one. Or, howevermany sisters you have.
Who you invite: family. Close friends. People who have money.
Etiquette: why bother?
I'm going to elope, too. Or at least have a really, really small wedding.

Yah. That's what I thought, too.
Kill the body and the head will die. This is written in my journal for some reason. :-)

This is the first time I have seen a message board conversation move as fast as on in an IRC chat room...
