“Go woke, go broke” is the slogan that keeps on giving. The latest installment of woke, politically active retailers now facing financial ruin in the form of shuttering stores and mass layoffs is none other than conservative-hating Bed Bath & Beyond.
According to CNBC, the retailer announced this week that it will close down 150 namesake stores, as well as plans to hand out pink slips to a whopping 20% of its workforce, mostly in the supply chain and corporate sectors of the business. The moves were announced ahead of an expected investor update on Wednesday in the company’s seemingly desperate bid to stay afloat.
As you’ll recall, BBB made headlines in early 2021 after it was confirmed by MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell that the retailer had canceled his legendary MyPillow line at the same time he was involved with conservative activism on behalf of former President Donald Trump, specifically working on issues related to election fraud claims.
At the time, Business Insider reported:
Bed Bath & Beyond has cut ties with My Pillow, the pillow manufacturing company founded by Trump supporter Mike Lindell, the retailer confirmed to Insider.
Lindell first reported the retailer axing his products, telling a Fox News affiliate and right-wing media outlet RSBN about stores dropping the brand. In the interviews, Lindell attributed the retailer’s decision to social media pressure led by “leftist groups.”
“They’re trying to cancel companies now,” he told RSBN.
The move to cancel MyPillow from being sold in Bed Bath & Beyond stores was significant because, at the time, it was the largest national retailer that stocked Lindell’s famous pillow and bed products. Lindell took the decision in stride and would eventually receive significant support from countless high-profile conservative influencers, which undoubtedly kept his brand alive and thriving.

Lesson learned.
2020: Bed Bath & Beyond Goes Broke: Retailer to Shutter Stores, Cut Staff After before Cancelling MyPillow the next Year
I haven’t shopped there in years but I always loved the store. I’ve noticed the items in their mailers have become very pricey. Oh well.
I like to replace my husband’s every two years for his allergies. You can only wash them so many times before the fall apart or just get lumpy.
And when you’re preggers, you need about 27 pillows. You still won’t be comfortable, but it gives you something to thump on (instead of the husband).
You’re sure about that, are you? They had problems before, but for a company on the edge, all it can take is that final straw that breaks their back. You do realize that people who bought My Pillow products there likely bought lots of other things as well? Alienating those customers didn’t just deprive BB&B of MyPillow sales; it also eliminated any other revenue from those who boycotted the chain.
Yup
They left our area in the first major round of store closures
That’s some serious spin there…
Wow pillow brand made or broke as store?!?
Be serious people
For kitchen gadgets, try Dollar Tree. No kidding.
It’s not just because of ‘my pillow’ and it’s ridiculous to think so.
Yeah, I don't think "My Pillow" had much to do with it.
FWIW, I buy the cheapest pillows at Walmart and chuck them in the trash twice a year because it's next to impossible to launder a pillow.
LOL - good luck finding the MP discount code. If you do, yeah, you can get a pillow for 30 bucks but shipping was 60 bucks- nope
Alot of managers, financiers, bankers, brokers, studied wokeism while learning their economics. They are learning that wokeism will not pay like it did in their college classes. I say financially destroy them. No mercy.boycott’em, point out their other faults(woke or not)..
GOOD!!!
See, that is, to see, they missed my business as I intended and to think they did all this to themselves. Will continue to order on line from Mike Lindell a true patriot
Seriously.
Bannon War Room has them all the time.Try entering warroom as the code
Another benefit is that she’ll never have to suffer the stench of patchouli oil again.
True, but I doubt people are constantly going.
Maybe a devoted person will go 4x a year. Interior decorators maybe some more.
I went once a year, and while I could spend $100 easily, maybe more of you need sheets, that’s a drop in the bucket.
I have a hard time believing so many millions stopped shopping there and made a giant dent. Maybe, though, it could have been the last straw.
I haven’t been to Penney’s since they started kissing up to (Let’s Go Brandon) rainbows years ago.
A shame because I had just been using them as my favorite general dept. store.
I got his mattress topper.
Great product!
You don’t watch Fox news. They’re lousy with them.
