#MeToo Comes For Martin Luther King
The American Conservative ^ | May 26, 29019 | Rod Dreher

Posted on 05/27/2019 3:38:10 PM PDT by OddLane

Historians have known for many years that civil rights icon Martin Luther King had been unfaithful to his wife. But now, David Garrow, who won a Pulitzer Prize in 1987 for his biography of King, has unearthed previously classified FBI documents showing that King was genuinely sexually depraved. From the Times of London (behind subscriber paywall):

A huge archive of documents recently released from Federal Bureau of Investigation files exposes in detail King’s sexual activities with dozens of women as he travelled the country campaigning against racial inequality...

Now, what man has not ‘sinned in his heart’ when confronted with a Playboy Bunny?

“What is the motive here?......who benefits from this exposure?”

All patriotic Americans.

The rapey commie plagiarist was part of the narrative created by the left, funded substantially by the KGB, for the purpose of exacerbating our racial discord.

If the truth discredits him, it undermines the left’s lying version of events.

This is outright stupid.

All of this was known (but largely ignored) at the time.
It has been a topic of discussion most of my life.
How does something that wasn’t a secret about a long dead guy connect to the Me Too stuff?

This is just a lazy writer rehashing worn out events of the past instead of researching something.

I heard about all of this decades ago.
Did you only read mainstream leftist newspapers?

Yes - who benefits from the exposure? And frankly, is this from FBI ‘secrets?” I trust the FBI about as far as I can toss a car. Besides - I love MLK, warts and all. His clarion call to justice stirred my soul. I never bothered to verify, “is he a saint?” “Are all his ducks in a row?” Even ‘Is he a moral man?” I am sick to death of the destruction of heroes.

Laughing and encouraging rape deserves a destruction of his hero status. The tapes were bad enough that Lee got a court to seal them

“His clarion call to justice stirred my soul.”

He left the country in far worse shape than he found it.

I don’t hate him for the color of his skin; I hate him for the content of his character.

the infidelity was known... but not the stand by and watch your buddy rape someone while making comments.

This could be the deep state, in an effort to tarnish the current administration with black voters.

You're right. Everything that happens between now and Election Day is a deliberate event, calculated specifically to hurt Trump.

Ah, such a conundrum, do we erase his legacy because of his sins?

The Founders are chuckling from their graves.

Amen.

I believe this was only written in an attempt to destroy Trump, as well.

It was known in the circles I moved in.
We had conversations about all of this stuff in the S-2 shop.

I believe all of it except reserve judgment on the rape part. No way to know until tapes are released.

It sounds like he did the same things as JFK in terms of women.

Who cares. MLK was a commie who ran with commies.

I don’t get why a few flowery nice words buys him any grace in this world.

Sure he had a great message from time to time, so did Micheal Jordan, and all he did, in the end, was hang with Bill Clinton, talk about P@@@Y and treat people like crap.

Heroes are just human, sometimes, really bad humans, in sheeps clothes.

Because we all know as a New York real estate mogul, Donald Trump is solely responsible for what the FBI did during the 1960s in the Deep South.
