CBS/Refinery29 Poll Reveals Women Reject Abortion, Feminism, the Media

The majority of young millennial women reject unrestricted abortion, refuse a “feminist” identity, and indicate trust issues with the media – according to a poll by the media.

In anticipation of the upcoming midterm elections, CBS and Refinery29 teamed up for a poll concerning young American women’s voting trends and views on certain issues. They began publicizing it August 13. While some media reports of the findings focused more on the political aspects, such as the Trump Administration, the poll revealed much more. Namely, that many young women don’t fit the mold that the media and politicians often assume.

Abortion

The poll, conducted by YouGov, looked at women from the ages of 18 to 35 and found that only 28% want abortion “legal in all cases.” Other results included: 34% want abortion “legal in most cases,” 25% want abortion “illegal in most cases,” and 13% want abortion “illegal in all cases.”

In the end, that means 72% are likely in favor of some kind of abortion restriction.

Regarding Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court case that legalized abortion on a federal level in the U.S., 69% of young women said it should not be overturned and 31% said it should be.

But less than half (45%) worried that “access to abortion will become more restricted.” 26% worried that “access to abortion will be less restricted,” and 29% were “unconcerned.”

That contradicts the talking points of those like feminist icon Gloria Steinem, who says no abortion means “no democracy” for women, and former Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards who insists that women “are not free” without abortion. That even opposes the narrative of the broadcast networks that regularly describe abortion as “women’s health care services.”

Young women beg to differ.

Could it be that Americans are as traditional as ever, the only difference now is the media has thrown a curtain over the truth and works endlessly to try and convince us that all sorts of perversions are not only ok but approved of by the masses?

It's maddening but routine that strong majorities both support "some" restrictions on abortion, and simultaneously describe themselves as pro-Roe vs Wade and pro-choice.

I suspect most of them could not write a coherent sentence on the actual content of Roe vs Wade.

Likely means they support the Casey standard (abortion can't be banned, but can be restricted as long as the restriction is not an "undue burden" on women being able to get abortions), even if they don't know of that standard.

A poll like this should include specific types of restriction (e.g, waiting period). That would help clarify how much abortion restriction millennial women support.

In 1985, I came across a study done by the Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood.

They asked women if they would still get an abortion if it were illegal.

The answer came back - 10% said they would still seek an abortion.

90% said they would not seek an abortion. They would have the baby.

No wonder Planned Parenthood is scared to death that Roe may be overturned.

The same media that spins negatively against Trump, had spun negatively against bedrock decent values for most of our lifetime.

Mention the abortion count per year at over 1 million, and over 50-60 million since Roe vs Wade, then ask almost any woman.

Wouldn’t it be best if we had very very very few abortions, the killing of innocent fetuses?

You’ll get close to 100% saying yes.

Yes, they certainly have. After the 1950s, the media decided America is not so great and just another country on the planet. Our flaws outweighed our good and it became their mission to highlight the flaws over the good. Soon thereafter, they were joined by Hollywood and academia and the Vietnam era cemented their hatred for all things good in America.

Bump. My take from the article is that if Roe v Wade is overturned it won’t raise a big stink among young women.

Apparently a majority of everyday Americans think for themselves. In many cases, I suspect, it is just a case of feeling something just isn’t right here.
