Emergency Preparedness….Top Post-Collapse Barter Items And Trade Skills

In today’s “modern” globalist economy, we have relied upon centralized and highly manipulated trade, forced interdependency, senseless and undisciplined consumption, endless debt creation, welfare addiction, and the erosion of quality, as a means to sustain a system that ultimately is DESIGNED to erode our freedoms not to mention our ability to effectively take care of ourselves. We have been infantized by our financial environment. In the near future, those who wish to live beyond a meager staple of government handouts (if any are even given) will be required to make a 180 degree reversal from their current lifestyle of dependency and immediate gratification towards one of self sufficiency, personal entrepreneurship, quality trade, and a mindset of necessity, rather than unfounded excess.

This means that each and every one of us will not only be driven to form barter networks outside the designated confines of the mainstream, we will have to become active producers within those networks. Each and every one of us will need to discover practical goods and skills that will be in high demand regardless of economic conditions. Being that our society has all but forgotten how this kind of trade works, let’s examine a short list of items as well as proficiencies that are sure to be highly sought after as the collapse progresses…

>>Stalin provides a lesson in the Ukraine. He killed millions with government by incompentence. It happened. Joseph died before I was born, but it happened. Even communists agree the JStalin killed a lot of people.

Pol Pot used a ruse of air raids to clear the city to the country. And those folks weren’t decimated (one out of 10 killed), they were all wiped out.

Dee Eee Dee. Dead. Kilt.<<

That is your scenario?

OK — I leave it to others to figure out how that happens from political peevishness. And from whence the order is given. Since the city centers I describe are all the source of democratic votes (and thus power) I can’t assemble a scenario where barry the zero or biden the idiot orders such a pogrom. And I can’t imagine it from a Republican from today’s potential candidate pool or the list for the next election cycles.

Is there an independent we need fear? Please name him or her now so we can be proactive in our planning.

Or, if I am wrong on this analysis, please correct me.

And I still detect anger.

Then you might want to make a smart move and head elsewhere. WTF? You DETECT ANGER?

You want angry, I can give you venting from the gut.

You need to get over yourself and your feelings of inadequacy because you have no skills useful to people just wanting to live until tomorrow.

>>Yes you repeatedly said gardening was useless, in fact you said repeatedly sait that planing for an economic collapse was useless.<<

You conflate 2 thoughts. Planning gardening is not the proper approach for a collapse. Gardening is a good idea.

Separate thoughts.

And if you disagree with the Mad Max scenario, I have never said it is the only possible scenario. I have merely said the entire world economy would need to collapse before “the collapse” would occur.

I have had a few people try to build scenarios, but they were narrow and the “proof” was individual and limited examples of civil disruptions. Or large-scale history that doesn’t seem to be evident.

And as I have said, I am arguing the points. I have called no one names and have not said anyone’s individual analysis was not thoughtful (although I have disagreed).

The good part is all the equipment you use is reuseable the following year with the exception of the sealing lids...I use parafin on the jam's.

>>We’re not on the same page, we never will be.<<

You are correct.

I am polite. You seem to be angry. I do not know why.

Perhaps it is when I flesh out the OPs scenario it puts you in an uncomfortable place.

But when I examine the ramifications, it is unfair to fall to ad hominem because you don’t like the analysis.

Ah well. Anyone reading the thread can do their own analysis and arrive his/her own conclusion.

Agree or not.

No, not a scenario, It's called history. If you don't study it, you might get to do it all over again.

He he he.

Make what claims of adequacy or skills you wish. And mindlessly attack mine. No one will know the veracity of your claims. And even posting support of your claims may just be an exercise in Google-Fu.

I suggested you not go there. I suggest it again with all my heartfelt affection for you as a fellow FReeper.

And I bid you good morrow.

What, you read minds now?

Nyet, tovarich! The original poster's scenario, and you seem to like that word, as opposed to history and reality... seems pretty mild.

You, my dear fellow, are the skunk at the party.

And others have said the same. Dog in the manger, &ct... ad infinitum.

Ah. So it will be biden who calls in the death squads? or Gov. Palin? Mr. Cain? Mr. Pawlenty? Mr. RINO Romney?

History CAN repeat, but will it? What indicators point to a impending killing of 30+ million Americans (it will have to be 200 for the Victory Garden strategy to work) and the OP's stated collapse to which we should all completely change our lives?

What is the scenario that makes you wish to have everyone create a garden to survive from and do so many other things to survive the collapse? What will cause the collapse? What will kill all those people?

BS you repeated posted that the op was pushing a mad max senerio, I am the OP and I pointed out that in post number four I talked about a Argentina style collapse not a Mad Max world. I also posted a link to a doumentary on that collapse.

How so is gardening not a good in economic collapse, it saves money and provides food whats negitive? I can provide you first hand accounts from people in Argentina and Sarajevo both of which have references to gardening.

I sugest you spend some time reading http://ferfal.blogspot.com/

Survivng Argentina someone who is living through and in a collapse economy. You will find that everything we avocate he writes about. It happened and is happening there and it can happen here just as easy.

I repeated you are a punk kid that would set in the back of the class they had no interest in the class, they care not one wit if they pasted the class or not and they thought anyone that was interested in the class were fools, so what did they do, they interrupted and disturbed the class to a point in which it made it near impossible for anyone interested to learn.

And I again have to ask why would you other than an wanting to irritate people spend the evening posting on a subject you don’t believe in nor support?

What drives your need to be at the center of a discussion that not only you don’t believe in but can clearly add nothing positive to?

What will kill all those people?

You have the question upside down, slick.

What keeps all those folks packed in a small space alive?

Shut off any of it, and you get pressure.

I forgot to thank YOU for the laughs as well.

Good night, or as some Argentineans say (they speak the most beautiful Spanish on the planet IMHO) “Buenos Noches.”

“I am still unclear on the scenario being suggested by the OP. And how it would kill 50+ million people in a few days”

Not a few days, I think, but a couple of months. Mainly they would kill each other.

“Your projections (”hate hate hate of whitey,” etc.)”

That’s not a projection, but an observation. If you haven’t seen it, I suspect you haven’t been paying attention.

You seem to be angry. I do not know why.

Projection, that's why you think that when I am direct. Had several folks complain about it when I was a chef, and more than one complain about it when I was a project engineer.

Some folks don't like Stuff=>Cow(Cabbage).

Makes them queasy and unsettled. Like you.
