Why Governor Palin stepped down (and who was behind the attacks)

Gov Palin interview with Greta Van Susteren was probably one of her best interviews, in that interview Van Susteren asked Palin about resignation, quitting, ethic violations and the prospect of dealing with attacks in future political positions. This is to all of those hacks, the misinformed and the haters that hide their true intentions against Gov. Palin, and you know who I'm talking about.......here are excerpts.
PALIN: Because it was the best thing for the state of Alaska to be able to progress the conservative agenda up there without the distraction that the new normal in Alaskan politics had become where every time I turned around, there was a lawsuit or frivolous ethics violation charge.
And that was prohibiting my administration from doing the work for the people. It was costing the state millions of dollars, thousands of staff hours to fight these frivolous, adversarial, opposition-researcher efforts that were thrown at my administration while I was there.
And I was not going to run again for governor, so instead of hunkering down, quitting, basically, as a governor by sitting behind my desk and not doing anything, not speaking out for fear of having another ethics violation charge, I said no. They're not going to win and we're going to get out there and fight harder for Alaskans, fight harder for Americans by handing the reins over to our lieutenant governor for my last year in office. He'll progress the agenda. I will get out there and fight even harder."
NOTE: Alaska's ethic laws at the time don't protect their governor from personal bankruptcy defending frivolous suits, it was by this loophole where the attackers attacked, filing away one charge after another. Also it does not protect staff members from made up violation charges either and paying out of pocket expenses ( if you read Going Rogue, her administration staff was slowed down from their work because of FOIA paperwork constantly being requested). By law Palin nor staff had no real recourse to take action against the attackers. She stated above about opposition research which means dems and obama administration hacks and lawyers.

My money is on Cheney. He ran Bushs campaign until he was asked to join the ticket. I cant think of a better advisor...
VP Cheney is probably well past running a campaign—a job for someone younger. As an elder adviser to Palin, he would be invaluable. He truly is a great man.
In the end, her campaign manager will likely be someone she knows closely and who has either worked for her before or has run conservative campaigns elsewhere. In all likelihood, someone even younger than she is. Probably somone very comfortable with her strong faith. But new blood for new times.

If they pick her to run for the 2012 Presidential candidate, and we get a third party split, we'll lose. “ Are you even for real?
What planet are you people living on anyways?
Why on earth would Republicans picking Palin to run in 2012 automatically mean a “third party”?
If anything, Sarah Palin is the one the Tea Parties favor most. She has already been invited to give the speech at the Tea Party convention
That means that if Republicans select Sarah Palin, she is going to be backed by the Tea Parties, rather than someone else like say Romney.
“Buying into the Palin hysteria”,/i>
What “hysteris” you talking about dude?
The only hysteria I see here is from the rabid anti-Palin bots, who just keep repeating already thoroughly debunked and discredited left wing talking points.
“So far, in my opinion, she's mostly flash and celebrity, and very little substance. “
Two FULL tems as mayor, and then governor of the biggest state in the country puts a lie to your statement.
How many states have you or your pal 0bmzo ever governed?.
“If things work out, run her in 2020”
So 0bozo can win 2 terms?
“If they run her and she wins, and Obama or his replacement doesn't get elected again in 2012 because of our inability to field a candidate that everyone will vote for, then I'll happily say I was wrong,”
This is the deal:
We are not taking any advise from any Palin hater, just because he says he will come to FR and say he “was wrong” after Palin has defeated 0bozzo in 2012.
Who in their right mind would take such advise from you?
To: Lancey Howard
Yes they have changed the ethic laws in Alaska. Shortly after Mrs Palin stepped down from the governorship.
To: Bigtigermike
Got into a discussion with some troll here who kept maintaining that Gov. Palin never clearly stated why she resigned.
He/she/it would read this story and maintain that donk talking point. Really was annoying, but worthwhile because even the most casual lurker would have seen through it...

Hey, jackass, why don't you go back and read everything I posted during the Bush elections. Or anything I've posted lately bashing liberals, Reid and Pelosi in particular.
I hate this administration, and I hate this congressional majority. And having voted Reform Party and seen what happened with Clinton, I would be horrified to see it happen again. I voted for Perot, Bush twice, and Libertarian in the last election. I have never voted Dem in my life, and I'd be caught dead voting for one now.
But instead, you'd rather be a pompous windbag and continue to accuse me of being a liberal. And you live a very sheltered life if you think bigotry and sexism aren't still running rampant in society.
I heard many people, especially during the primaries, pissing and moaning about their only choice being a woman or a black man for President. If you think that's only a problem amongst the voters in the Democratic Party, then you're worse than an ostrich. Many, many men in this country, particularly in the South, will not vote for a woman, whether she's qualified or not. That's just truth, it doesn't matter whether you like it or not, whether you want to believe it or not, or you just think you don't need those votes. I don't make the world, I just live in it.

And as for you, I even said I’d vote for her if she’s the pick for President, so I fail to see how that qualifies me as a hater.
And by PR, I mean the book, the FB page, the Twitter crap, everything that everybody else does, be they B list celebrity or gameshow contestant. It’s nothing against her personally, it’s something that’s expected from anyone these days. We’re not happy unless everyone’s a celebrity, including our politicians. It’s a trend that started with Clinton and his saxophone. I think a person should be able to stand on their own merits, without having to Twitter, make a book tour, or have everyone friending them and following their fan page on Facebook.
And I’m concerned the Tea Party will become a third party and run Sarah, because there’s not a lot of love lost between she and the Republican Party. I’m more afraid of her becoming the Perot of the next election. The Republicans are going to be forced to nominate her, and hope that a lot of the chauvinist male population won’t just stay home and not vote for her, or ask her to take second fiddle, which she doesn’t want to do, and hope she takes it anyway. And hope she doesn’t turn them down and run as the third party headliner for the Tea Party. I don’t think those scenarios are that unreasonable, and it’d be disastrous if it happened, because it would split the vote.

Has anyone, besides me, noticied whenever Rahm Emanuel watches a democrat, or especially nobama, speak, his eyes look like a snake ready to strike it’s prey? He’s wierd.

Good, good, I hit a nerve.
But I've still never met anyone who ever said that they wouldn't vote for Palin because she's a woman; nor that she should stay home and bake cookies, or that she should just stay home and raise her children.
No, let me correct that. I DID read one or two liberals snarking that Palin was anti-family and a hyocrite since she wasn't taking care of her own children.
But I never heard anyone to the right of Arlen Spectre say that. Including Pentecostals, Roman Catholics, and libertarians.
As far as your fear of a third party. I got you beat, I remember Anderson trying to run in 1980 on -- guess what -- HIGH EXCISE TAXES (50 cents a gallon in the late 1970s) to reduce fuel consumption, dependence on foreign oil, and help the environment.
Meantime, what's Sarah's mantra? From Going Rogue p.384:
"I am a registered Republican because the planks in that party's platform are stronger than any others upon which to build Alaska and America."
Not to mention her "Drill Baby Drill" mantra (mentioning in her book the 35 trillion cubic feet of proven reserves of natural gas in Alaska...)
Where's your third party?
Not buying it.
The RINOs left *her*. The RINOs (David Brooks, Kathleen Parker) attack *her*.
The "conservative" beltway types are trying to hitch themselves to her wagon, but knock conservatives and the grass roots out of the driver's seat.
Not gonna happen.
Incidentally, where were the NY Times bestsellers and book tour lines for Geraldine Ferraro (or even Jack Kemp) following their unsuccessful VP bids?
Cheers!

I have a friend who was visiting with his nephew from Florida yesterday. He's just turned 18 and is a senior in high school in Bradenton, Florida. I'm not sure which high school he goes to. He told his uncle that one of his teachers had brought in Fahrenheit 9/11 and showed it to them as truth. He also told him that he thought Nader should be President. When he asked him why, and pointed out that Nader is a whackjob, his nephew said, "That's what they told us." Does anyone know what high schools are in that area, or...

A seniors softball game was called off, the park was evacuated, and the bomb squad was called in after one of the players found a bomb in the outfield. "It was a piece of PVC capped on both ends,...

Counties in north Georgia (Hall, Forsyth, Cherokee, etc.) are reporting a well organized document fraud scam involving birth certificates. It goes like this: Illegal alien women who give birth in the county claim they do not know who the father is. After birth, they obtain a birth certificate and five copies. Later, a man comes in and claims he is the father. The mother agrees. This causes the counties to issue yet another birth certificate, with a new name, and five copies. These ten certificates are then altered and used to claim U.S. birth for other babies born elsewhere. County...

A significant percentage of Americans are factually incorrect about very important issues. These include whether we found WMDs in Iraq, Iraq's ties to 9/11, and Iraq's ties to al Queda and terrorism in general. What's more striking is that of those who hold factual misperceptions of one or more of these issues, a vast majority support Bush. Bush's support is directly proportional to misperceptions of facts. This should give even the most allegiant Bush supporter pause."

Again, no postings at all under this name in support of Sarah or Conservatism, from 2005 through 2009.
But, just to be fair, you did have this posting:
I Posted This On DU... Wed Nov 3 20:54:11 2004 · 97 of 117 TheLurkerX to John Jorsett I'm pretty happy that with all the get Bushies, big money men wasting millions, mike moore and stars hammering, 527 ads bashing, massive turnout, voter fraud and registration taking place, they still couldn't take it. That just means that next time will be a walk away. I'm predicting that the dems will split, and you'll see a 3rd party emerge like the reformers did, and we'll be guaranteed an even bigger victory than we'd otherwise have in the next election or two. Not to mention that a lot of their old style base is dying off now. Not to be morbid, but it's just the truth of attrition. And they won't be replaced that quickly. Most libs seem to become conservatives after they graduate from college, get a job, and have to start paying bills, and start to notice that an awful lot of their check goes to taxes. The dems are done.
So you go on DU and post that them dems will split and they are done; now you come hear and post that the GOP will split (due to Sarah) and the GOP is done.
If you are going on leading sites right *and* left, and to each proclaiming that they are about to split and lose...
what other word than troll could be used?
Cheers!

THANKS, for exposing TheLurkerX....when I saw him say that Reagan wasn’t Reagan until he was in Office was strange for a true conservative to say!! A concerned troll indeed!!

Bush got re-elected didn’t he? It wasn’t until 2008 that we got beat. And quite honestly, I didn’t post anything in regard to that election, because I thought McCain was a moronic choice for a Presidential headliner, and I wasn’t about to vote for him. Sarah wasn’t even a blip on my radar at the time, and like I said, I voted Libertarian. I figured that it was a lose/lose vote either way, with McCain being the lesser of 2 evils, and I’d rather vote my conscience and be done with the whole election. Unfortunately, next time around, I don’t think there’ll be another 4 years if someone doesn’t field a candidate that beats Obama. I’ll be amazed if we make it until 2012.

What are you talking about? You can't even keep your posters straight. That comment about Reagan was from Arasina in #128. You want to accuse them of being a liberal troll too?
I voted for Bush twice, and I said I'd vote for Palin too, if she's the final nominee, which is more than I gave McCain. She's just not my personal choice, and I'm worried that she can actually win it. But, like I said, different strokes.

This proves you're a troll.
Even Jim Rob says it "Free Republic is Palin Country."
And the FReepers were going NUTS in favor of Palin as soon as her selection as VP candidate was announced.
During all that time from you...silence.
Not even to say "let Sarah be Sarah".
And now, after she single-handedly stopped the headlong frenzy towards Obamacare with the two words "Death Panels"...
all you can do is bleat about left-wing boilerplate talking points intended to split the GOP.
Points which have already been discredited in her book.
Your last two sentences
Unfortunately, next time around, I dont think therell be another 4 years if someone doesnt field a candidate that beats Obama. Ill be amazed if we make it until 2012.
likewise are evidence of your bad faith.
In case you didn't notice, troll-boy, the next Presidential election IS in 2012 -- so how you can be worried we won't make it to 2012, "if we don't field a candidate that beats Obama" -- remains a mystery.
Maybe it was just poor grammar on your part, based on frustration at being unable to start a fifth column movement.
Polish up on your Alinsky techniques, you suck.
Cheers!

You're an idiot. Jim Rob may say Free Republic is Palin Country, but that doesn't automatically mean I have to lockstep to his desires. I've been on this site for years before she even came on the radar. In case you haven't noticed, this is America, and not everyone has to agree with everyone else.
And I said I'd vote for her, even though she's not my first choice. If you'd rather not have my vote, then that's your problem. I'll still vote for anyone but Obama, even if they're not my first choice, and if you think I'm not fit to post or vote in your camp because I lack your rabid enthusiasm for a particular candidate, then tough nipples.
You need to get some meds for that paranoia, and stop pushing away allies because they don't agree with 100 percent of your beliefs. We've got far more in common than we do different, and if you can't accept anyone who's not totally in agreement with you, then I weep for a cohesive assault against the Dems in 2012, because they'll all be united in their liberal BS agenda behind Obama again, while you're name-calling and trashing people who share your desire to see them gone.
And let me ask you this. What happens if she's not the nominee? You going to take your ball, go home, hide in your closet and cry? Are you going to stay home and not vote if Sarah isn't the Presidential candidate? If DeMint or someone else wins the nomination, is your head going to explode? Or will you support a third party run by Sarah, divide the conservative vote, and let the damn Democrats win again? You might want to think about what you're going to do if she's not the one fielded to run, and get your anti-depressants ready.
I'll vote for Sarah, if she's the Republican Party nominee, even though she's not my first choice. Will you vote for someone other than her?
