Why Governor Palin stepped down (and who was behind the attacks)
Blog Disclose TV Forum ^ | December 24, 2009 | BigTigerMike

Gov Palin interview with Greta Van Susteren was probably one of her best interviews, in that interview Van Susteren asked Palin about resignation, quitting, ethic violations and the prospect of dealing with attacks in future political positions. This is to all of those hacks, the misinformed and the haters that hide their true intentions against Gov. Palin, and you know who I'm talking about.......here are excerpts.

PALIN: Because it was the best thing for the state of Alaska to be able to progress the conservative agenda up there without the distraction that the new normal in Alaskan politics had become where every time I turned around, there was a lawsuit or frivolous ethics violation charge.

And that was prohibiting my administration from doing the work for the people. It was costing the state millions of dollars, thousands of staff hours to fight these frivolous, adversarial, opposition-researcher efforts that were thrown at my administration while I was there.

And I was not going to run again for governor, so instead of hunkering down, quitting, basically, as a governor by sitting behind my desk and not doing anything, not speaking out for fear of having another ethics violation charge, I said no. They're not going to win and we're going to get out there and fight harder for Alaskans, fight harder for Americans by handing the reins over to our lieutenant governor for my last year in office. He'll progress the agenda. I will get out there and fight even harder."

NOTE: Alaska's ethic laws at the time don't protect their governor from personal bankruptcy defending frivolous suits, it was by this loophole where the attackers attacked, filing away one charge after another. Also it does not protect staff members from made up violation charges either and paying out of pocket expenses ( if you read Going Rogue, her administration staff was slowed down from their work because of FOIA paperwork constantly being requested). By law Palin nor staff had no real recourse to take action against the attackers. She stated above about opposition research which means dems and obama administration hacks and lawyers.

Checked Amazon, he actually has two. I’m going to check the library. These are going to be required reading in order to understand the enemy.....

Fair enough. And honestly, if she makes it on the ticket as the Republican nominee, I’m going to vote for her. I just hope you’re right, and that she can pull it off. I have major doubts, but that won’t stop me voting for her when the time comes. And if she’s the choice, I’ll do my part to get her elected. I just hope to hell it all works out, because another election for Obama and his lot of anti-American bastards will be the death of this country.

Where is this so called PR? did she not fight the Repubs in the past too? Was she up till recently overly rich and brought up in politics by her family or husband?

Point out this PR you speak? the only PR comes from the enemies......

Leadership: If Barack Obama is Spock, Sarah Palin is Kirk

"Then, as Sarah Palin announced her resignation, it hit me. Sarah Palin is Captain Kirk. Why? Because she just passed the Kobayashi Maru."

A lot of her image is PR.

Pure horse vomit. People are attracted to her life story and that's why they're passionate about her! Nobody created her or held her hand.

And the reason I said I’d like to see her as VP with a strong conservative candidate, is it would give her a chance to prove herself in my eyes.

She already ran as a VP candidate.
Why would she run again as #2?
What do you think the VP does? She's qualified to take over if something had happened to McCain but somehow not qualified to run as President in her own right?
Again, this is the same argument Hillary made against Obama last year when she offered him #2, and Zero completely blew that narrative out of the water.

Show everyone that she does have what it takes to step into the highest office in this country.

She has done that. She fought corruption and machine politics for 16 years. She has executive experience already.

Her biggest problem was being hitched to McCain.

Excuse me but McCain campaign came to her. She didn't exactly beg and grovel for the position.

VP isn’t good enough for her? She can’t wait a few years to be President?

She did wait a few years. She ran as VP in 2008 already. ROFL

Becoming the first woman VP is a major accomplishment, and if she does it well, she’s got an even better shot at the brass ring later.

Why do you want her to wait especially at the rate in which the nation is circling the toilet bowl? Why not now?

Single member districts and only two candidates opposing each other ~ think of it as everyone having two votes, not just one. You cast your 2 votes for your candidate, or for the other, or you throw them away and cast 1 for each.

You still vote for the winner ~ so, yeah, LEFTWING TROLL is a real possibility here.

In elections, none are innocent.

You know what. Forget I said a damn thing. I’ll leave you people to it, and I’ll find another conversation somewhere else. This whole thread shows the type of intolerance for differing opinions I’d expect from Reddit or DU, not FR. I’m no damn liberal troll, but there’s quite a few posters in this thread acting just exactly like I’d expect from a bunch of intolerant liberal hatemongers. Hope this isn’t the sense of togetherness and tolerance you think’s going to get someone elected. Bunch of snippy, thin skinned vipers. TROLL! TROLL! BONG SMOKER! RAUM! LIBERAL! Because, Heaven knows, anyone who disagrees or doesn’t lockstep to your rhythm is a covert liberal troll.

BTW, I agree Palin isn’t Reagan, but she is a disciple of Reagan, She believes in the principles of Reagan and follows the model that he implemented all the way down to end.

Even Reagan wasn't Reagan until he was elected President. He was a good and well-known actor, a Democrat who became a Republican on principle, a state governor, a divorcee with problem kids, a candidate who lost one bid and fought on to later win the nomination.

After becoming POTUS, he held televised "fireside chats" and spoke directly to the people in a down-home way that was clearly understood. He didn't suck up to the media; instead, he developed a friendly yet adversarial relationship with them. He appointed good people for the most part so that his administration ran smoothly. He was strong when he needed to be strong (countless examples) and formed terrific alliances with other strong leaders (Maggie Thatcher, for example).

Sarah Palin, IMO, has the same potential to become a great president like Ronald W. Reagan. She has already proven to have some of the same character traits as Reagan and has demonstrated a similar ability to lead. Right now, her adversary may not be The Berlin Wall or The Iron Curtain, but it's a war she has to win before she can take on bigger battles. It's the attempts by the Øbama crew and the media to alter our perception of her as a worthy candidate for anything.

For those like some of my siblings who "can't stand" Sarah Palin for the way she TALKS, may I remind you that other great leaders have had their own quirky turns-of-phrase but the mannerism didn't become cherished until it was a part of history. (You betcha!) [So there.]

Comments like that always make me wish we had audio recordings of Abraham Lincoln. Betcha he sounded plenty "back woods." (Although he reportedly read Shakespeare beautifully.)

BTW, what do your sibs think of all the RINOs and liberals who sound like regular retards when they talk: Susan Collins, Harry Reid, Al Franken, or Obama without his teleprompter?

You give up entirely too easy. When I first came here (1996 I believe) there was this crew that would come out and do beat-downs.

There are no beat-downs here today but Fur Shur we are practicing language that Republicans need to learn to use against the class enemy!

Yeah, I'm stealing their words too ~ if the fascist pigs can't take it, they can go cry to their mommies in the basement.

Rich White Republicans?

Haven't you heard about the recent stockmarket collapse and the loss of $12 trillion in home and business equity?

There will shortly be a lot more Republicans than in the last Presidential election ~ but "rich" Republicans?

Not likely!

And probably not all white either. White folks weren't the only people stripped clean of a lifetime of work.

Reagan's "war" was the evil of communism in the world.

Sarah's "war" would be the communism in America.

They still love Øbama as far as I know. We don't discuss politics anymore because it's too dangerous. I'll still grab their hands to pull them to safety when Øbama leads them over the cliff. =o)

My library carries:

“The Plan: Big Ideas for Change in America.” by Rahm Emanuel and Bruce Reed.

“The Thumpin’” : how Rahm Emanuel and the Democrats learned to be Ruthless and Ended the Republican Revolution” by Naftali Bendavid (so it’s written by a different author)

I couldn't stand McCain's weak sauce, so I voted Libertarian last election, but God forbid I don't bow down at the alter of Sarah Palin's celebrity.

So, WHO do YOU want to run and WHO do YOU think can win against Obama? Enquiring minds wanna know...

“Because the GOP machine didn’t like her much better than the Democrats....have you read her book? She ran and won as a Republican without the support of the GOP.”

Thanks. Yours is the only post addressing the specific question I raised. No, I haven’t read the book.

A lot of her image is PR.

If by PR, you mean Personal Recognition you are correct.

Otherwise -- name her PR firm, and show me the blitz of op-ed pieces, favorable comments in the press, puff-piece biographies, and the like, commissioned and planted by the PR firm.

*crickets*

And the reason I said I’d like to see her as VP with a strong conservative candidate, is it would give her a chance to prove herself in my eyes.

Read her book, it proves both her capabilities and her bona fides.

And I’ve got no problem voting for a woman, if I believe in her, but I still say that there are many, many old school men in this country that won’t vote for a woman for President.

Attempted splitting of the conservative movement by stating bigoted liberal stereotypes of conservatives.

Name the old school men who have told you this.

I haven't met or heard from a single one.

Remember your posting history is visible.

From 2004 through September 2009, here are the articles you posted:

Lots of evidence of contact with the heart and soul of conservative men there, eh?

Sorry, go back where you came from. Your arguments are KNOWN before you made them, and REFUTED.

Your talking points only work among people who haven't FORMED an opinion, and everyone in the country has formed an opinion on Sarah.

...and they're forming on on Obama as we speak.

People are starving for common sense, fiscal responsibility, and taking pride in the country.

As far as foreign policy, she gets it. Americans don't bow to foreign leaders.

For knowledge, she has Bolton as her top foreign policy advisor.

There's nobody else on the planet, except maybe George Washington, George S. Patton, or Curtis LeMay, I'd trust more with our security. OK, maybe Reagan, too.

Better go back and tell Frum you FAILED.

Cheers!

Don't be pissed because your arguments got refuted.
This is what FR is all about. Me in particular didn't attack you, but your arguments are typical talking points about Sarah that has been debunked a million times.

Again, this shows the passion of Sarah's supporters. We will fight for Sarah in a constructive way because we believe in her and her principles.

My money is on Cheney. He ran Bush’s campaign until he was asked to join the ticket. I can’t think of a better advisor...
