If the foundations be destroyed, what shall the righteous do?
Recently I felt compelled to send out an URGENT message warning of an impending great calamity such that will cause even Gods elect to tremble.
One Bishop asked, Is there no further word: How should the righteous respond to such a word?
I can only answer by sharing what the Holy Spirit is speaking to my own heart and what I am to do. I shared that I was led in a practical way to lay aside a months supply of food because I have witnessed the panic in the wake of terrorism. That has to be a personal word for every individual.
This is what I hear the Holy Spirit speaking to my heart concerning my own spiritual response to impending calamity. It is simply this STAND STILL AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD.
And Moses said to the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show you today The Lord shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace (Exodus 14:13-14).
This is the attitude of faith in the face of calamity. What could Israel do on the brink of the Red Sea? Pharaohs army is pressing in, mountains are on both sides, and there is an impossible sea ahead. The flesh cries, Do something!
The flesh cries hopelessness. Can Gods people dry up the sea? Level a mountain? Fight a great army without having weapons? They are in what appears to be a dreadful, frightening situation. Gods people tremble and in this hour of trembling comes a word from God. In essence:

Since it was sent to his mailing list, friends and bishops, who I'm sure are probably 99% Christian, it would appear the message doesn't apply to non-Christians. That said, I hope this post doesn't degenerate into a "Is there really a God?" discussion.
History:
The article was originally picked up by WorldNetDaily, then posted and discussed on FreeRepublic under the title of "Famed pastor predicts imminent catastrophe" - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2201777/posts
No matter the circumstances, keeping a month of durable foodstuffs in supply is a good idea. So is a pistol.
Thank you for posting. Definitely an important message for Christians in America, from a highly credible source.
So what is Wilkerson’s history of predictions and the fulfillment of those predictions?
That’s what I was wondering; I’ve never heard of this guy.
About David Wilkerson
http://www.worldchallenge.org/about_david_wilkerson
David Wilkerson is the Founding Pastor of Times Square Church in New York City. He was called to New York in 1958 to minister to gang members and drug addicts, as told in the best-selling book, The Cross and the Switchblade.
In 1987, David Wilkerson returned to “the crossroads of the world” to establish Times Square Church. Since then, has has faithfully led this congregation, delivering powerful biblical messages that encourage righteous living and complete reliance on God.
David Wilkerson has a strong burden to encourage and strengthen pastors throughout the world. Since 1999, he has been travelling around the globe holding conferences for Christian ministers.
Let me repost the info to the previous article and the link and see if it works this time.

Was it Billy Graham who once said,”If God doesn’t judge America, then he owes an apology to Sodom and Gomorrah.”
Do you want to get in on this Wilkerson action?
I have been thinking lately about how God feels about our approaching “blind leap of Faith” (bad choice of words) into a global government. This is where the arrogant Obozo wants to take us. Those of us who take the Bible serious, know that eventually it will happen. It is written there.
The question in my mind is, Is it now time? Or will God frustrate this like he did at the Tower of Babel.
Have also though about the “rapture of the Church” in modern terms. Will it happen when we are nuked and is that the the method we meet him in the sky?
These are troubling times, but Wilkerson is correct we must always remember God is ultimately in charge, not man.
Pray for our nation and the believers.
And if his prophecy is proved to be false, will the OT admonition to stone a false prophet be carried out?
I remember that. It’s a sobering thought.
“So what is Wilkerson’s history of predictions and the fulfillment of those predictions?”
He doesn’t have one (a history); he’s NOT in the habit of making them—that’s what makes this more noteworthy!
Relax, he has stated and denies that he's a prophet, so that doesn't apply.
Also you can stop picking up the rocks. Oh, and go to the back of the line of those waiting to cast the first stone.
Piper’s Response to David Wilkerson.

For the skeptics:
This man is saying nothing different than a lot of us have been “predicting” here; that is: we may be heading for a violent breakdown of society in the near future. Many here have said to be wary of this Summer. That he had a revelation saying much the same is confirmation of our fears.
BTW, he’s talking about worldwide RIOTS; NOT BOMBS!
Freakin’ Duh. Where were these “prophets” before 9/11? That would have been a useful warning. Meanwhile, I’ve been preparing for EARTH-SHATTERING CALAMITY ever since. Seems kind of inevitable in the Brave New World...
Thanks for the link. I'm not familiar with Piper, but I appreciate his thoughtful comments. As for mention of Y2K preparations, if I remember correctly, there was a lot of advice from various governmental agencies. Weren't there a lot of denials for vacation requests for federal, state & local law enforcement personnel due to uncertainty about what Y2K would bring?
It wasn't just the "conspiracy theorists" who were concerned about Y2K.
Good question. I used to attend his church and have looked into this and my response would be Mixed.
He apparently called the Black Monday crash in 1987, shortly beforehand, but I cannot absolutely confirm this.
He has been consistently predicting imminent financial doom and gloom (as a result of Gods judgment on America for turning from Him) for over 20 years. I suppose, given the current financial situation, you could say he was right.
Several years ago, I believe around 1995 or 1996, he stated that he believed the 1,000 fires he saw in his vision could be coming to NYC within a year. They did not, of course. He did say “could” as opposed to “would”, but the “could” seemed to sound a lot like a “would”.
He is careful not to call himself a prophet (he often says one of many watchmen), yet his predictions, based upon supposed visions or words from God or leading of the Holy Spirit, seem clearly to be prophecies.
His predictions, while bold, always seem to be vague enough in time frame so that they couldnt definitively be labeled false. However, the urgency with which he has made these pronouncements often strongly implied that the doom was right around the corner.
His doctrine used to be generally sound, biblical Pentecostal. He strongly rejected the Word of Faith Health and Wealth Gospel, and the bizarre Holy Laughter and Brownsville Revival that swept through Pentecostal and Charismatic churches in the late 1990s.
However, in more recent years, he made trip to the UK where he shared pulpits with some of the heretics who had pushed these false movements and blasted sound Pentecostal preachers who warned him against this.
After that, his doctrine seemed to become very inconsistent. One week his preaching would be sound and the next questionable, or outright unsound.
I believe he is a sincere man, but the last time I checked, he seemed to be drifting from sound doctrine.
A mixed record is OK for a financial pundit, but by biblical standards for prophecy, totally unacceptable.
That doesn’t mean I’m not going to stock up on bottled water and canned goods though. :)
But my own effort to be discerning says: Stick with the Bible, David. It is scary enough. And it is absolutely true. And your credibility will never fall. One of the things that sticking with the Bible does is to keep you from being a sensationalist predictor of coming events. So many folks tend in this direction, and so many Christians believe them without batting an eye. Most of popular Christianity is an exercise in falsely reading the tea leaves of the day. Christians have a natural faithfulness that makes them want to believe these guys. Anyone who claims to be from God and have His message must be honest, right? Wrong. That is why there are so many warnings throughout the NT about this sort of spiritual naiveté.
Bottom line, nobody is getting a personal word from the Lord about what is going to happen tomorrow.
>>>He doesnt have one (a history); hes NOT in the habit of making themthats what makes this more noteworthy!<<<
That is not really the case. I attended his church for about 5 years, and he frequently made predicitons, most of them about financial meltdown.
He has been making prediction (prophecies?) for about 30 years. Some have seemingly come to pass, others...not so much.
