Remeber how I said I'd give a status report on whether or not my rose lived through the winter?
Well, either I'm luckier than I thought, have more skill than I thought, or God was looking after it because it still lives.
Despite that idiot forcing me to dig it up.

Good news on the rose front - plants are more hardy than we know. Their survival instincts are strong.
Could this be BigAl?
To: lodwick; grannie9
Well, this rose was a gift to me from my step-daughter for Father's day 1998.
And it's abit of a mutant in that it isn't the color it's supposed to be, and was rather weak when I got it.
I've never had to transplant a rose before, let alone dig one up, root ball it and have to let it sit in burlap all winter.
So it's kinda a bit of a miracle that it survived. (Even the mini rose lived, though drastically reduced in cane number..)
Kinda hoping that I can find someplace else to place it that I won't have to dig it up again.
(That'd take a miracle.)
I knew that BigAl was in collaboration with the manatee, but I never expected to see photgraphic proof of him in outright inter-species treason.
Gran, we know why you can't get any photos of them now!
Wonder if it's his reveneg for being beamed with the chest ray?

Enjoy your day on the water Gran. Have fun.
To: lodwick
Can't do that here yet.
Water will give you hypothermia in under 10 minutes still.

Pyongyang, North Korea (AheadOfNews.com) - A few days after claiming that the United States was planning a nuclear attack on North Korea, North Korea's state KCNA news agency reported that the U.S. was also planning a series of devastating cream pie attacks on strategic military and political personnel.

I'd PAY money to be the first guy to throw a pie in the face of a North K soldier...
Just to see him get real PO'd and take a swing at my kneecaps...
(A few guys I knew during Basic went to South K and the joke went, "What do you do when you run into a North k patrol?" Answer: "Try not to step on them.")

Got this today via email:
March 4, 2003.
Today it was reported that a severe earthquakes have occurred in 10 different locations in France. The severity was measured in excess of 10 on the Richter Scale. The cause was the 56,681 dead American soldiers buried in French soil rolling over in their graves. According to the American Battle Monuments Commission there are 26,255 Yankee dead from World War I buried in 4 cemeteries in France. There are 30,426 American dead from World War II buried in 6 cemeteries in France. These 56,681 brave American heroes died in their youth to liberate a country which is guilty of shameful unspeakable behavior in the 21st century.
May the United States of America never forget their sacrifice as we find ways to forcefully deal with the Godforsaken unappreciative, forgetful country of France!

Love it.
De Gaulle never answered us when asked if removing all Americans from his snotty little cheese eating collaborationist country included the soldiers buried there.
Running around like a chicken with me head cut off.
It's raining here and I gotta track down an idiot cat who hates the rain.
Who also happens to be outside...

Good afternoon....nothing interesting happening here today, other than the sun is shining one minute, and ten minutes later, its almost as dark as nightime, and it beginx to pour....then the rain stops and the shine comes out again....dark and light, off and on...crazy, crazy....
Westy, loved the sunset from Sequim...love going up to the Peninsula, and visiting Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend, the Rain Forest, and the Olympic Natl Park...such a grand and glorious area, with the ocean, the mountains, and the trees....
Have you ever been to the Olympia Game Forest, there up in or near Sequim...we love going there....you drive your car through, and see the animals..and we bring tons of bread to throw at the animals...
It gets a little scarey tho, the end, when you drive through the Buffalo herd...they just come right up to the car, and we were handing them bread slices out the window...and when they want moe, they stick their big, ugly, nasty, wet, purple tongues right in your face...BigDom got swiped by one great big male Buffalo...poor Bigdom had buffalo slobber all over his hair and face...most unattractive....
And they constantly lick at your windows, begging for food...we make sure we carry windex in the car, to clean the windows of buffalo slobber after we have passed through the herd...
The scarey part comes in, when after you have exhausted all you bread supplies, and its time to move on, sometimes the buffalo dont want to get out of the road to let you by...they just stand there, licking your car, and trying to get their big heads and big tongues in through the windows...and once they clear the road, and you are able to go on your way, sometimes they chase you for a while, still thinking you have more food...its really scarey being chased by some of those big males...but the whole game park experience is fun...
To: andysandmikesmom
(The last Buffalo I saw were at Fort Sill in Oklahoma.
They'd wandered into the impact zone during a fire mission with the howitzers. Oops.)
Not a good memory.
On to more pleasant things.
My rose lived through the winter, miraculously.
You got a free window cleaning by way of animal tongue and slobber...
Sounds like a Kodak moment.
The Redwing blackbirds are back.

Glad your rose lived through the winter....we dont have too much of a problem with roses dying during the winter, just because our winters are so mild....usually once you plant them and get them going, they are there for good....
To: andysandmikesmom
I'd never had to dig one up before, so I had no experience doing so.
I've also never had to rootball a rose and not be able to replant afterwards.
I was kinda forced to dig it up.
But it still lives, and I'm hoping to be in a new place soon where I can permanently plant it.
