Sorry about the keyboard.
Thanks. Been in an odd mood lately myself, so I kinda took it out on Elanor.
Think she'd mind?

By the by, how did the last keyboard die, and did it die well?

I was in a bad mood on that thread.
(I hope it didn't show.)
The story was about two weeks of agonizing brainstorming to come down to that.

LOL - yeah, it died the good death...I drunkenly tipped over a totally virginal gin & tonic onto its face.

It was quick, it was painless. Truly, it did not suffer or agonize over its demise.

The loss of the beverage troubles me most.

RIP Mr. G&T...see ya again soon enough.

I want to know if Karsh is in love with Arselen? Is he too old for her? He's dead, but I can't remember if she's a ghost. I am still a little confused as you can see..

Maybe I shouldn't say anything.. ;)

Karsh is somewhat Undead.
The backstory, which is written out to page 124 in wordperfect, is that he was once the King. But he ended up in battle with the Archon, a necromancer, and they killed each other. (The Archon sports a cut from shoulder to hip that hasn't quite healed, even though he made himself one of his own gruesome trophies.)
Karsh, now undead, had been laying in state in the catacombs for a good millenium. That is, until the Eternal recalls him back to service.
During the thousand years that Karsh was interred, the world has changed vastly. No-one has use of the 'gift' anymore and the Archon is back. Has been for centuries.
Karsh has to deal with differences in languages and thinking. Shennites, outsiders, are no longer shunned.
(Shennites were originally bandit like nomadic clans.)
Karsh has several personal demons to deal with, the destruction of Durvan for instance, and has to balance everything against one thought: What happens once he finally does defeat the Archon? Does he live again? Or does he go back to being peacefully dead?
Karsh isn't a ghost, as he still inhabits his body, unlike the rest of the crew that comes in and out of his life.
Ablene is a ghost, she was once Queen and rumored to have enslaved the male ppopulation with her voice. (She was said to be able to enthrall men with her voice. Karsh is immune.)
Arselen is the current Queen, last of her line. She and Arsivath bear a striking resemblance to each other. Arsivath does not wander as a ghost, so far as is known.
Karsh certainly does love her, but he fears that once he defeats the Archon, all bets are off.

Kinda confusing, I agree. I, unfortunately have all the information at hand here.. and no way to convey it all.
Yes, I even thought up an entire language to go with it, and a whole mythos.
I need to re-write the story that is in Wordperfect, but maybees it can be published someday....

Gentle and reasonable.. I thought I was being rather snarky and 'PMS'y like.

Okers, I guess. I didn't look at some of teh other posts. but, then again, I read mg39's stuff... and I've tangled with OWK a few times. As well as Asmodeus.
*shrugs*

Way with words? What meanest thou?
The keyboard went happy. ];-)

Well.. I'm glad you told me that much before I go to bed. I think it's a very interesting story.. You have given it a lot of thought. I hope you do get to publish it. I think I"d better copy your explanation tho.. so I will have it at hand for later episodes.. ;)

Too old for her.. No.
I decided for the story that he was in his early 20's when he went into battle the last time.
He was teh youngest King, and the second son. His brother fell in battle long before Karsh's coronation. At the time, Karsh was Captain of the Southern Marches.
Yes, I know. Alot of stuff to try and keep straight.

Okers.
There's more, but I'm trying to keep it as short as possible and keep it as thorough and understandable as possible.

Rathe and Arselen are Half-Brother and Sister, sharing the same mother. Rathe's father is the Archon, Arselen's mother betrayed her country.
Rathe is as opposite his father as one can get.
Rollo is rathe's full brother, and as evil as they get. He'd kill and rape anyone who got in his way.
Bentold is a studor, kinda like a messenger/ personal aide, and has been compromised by the Archon. That's why he was sent to Ganthrun to organise a defense and redeem himself.
He near got himself killed, but that didn't enter into the FR version at Ganthrun. It entered it where Karsh gets the scar on his face over his right eye. (Bentold tries to dent the Archon's head with as mace)

If you read post #50 on that same thread, you see that my comment to F16Fighter ties into what I had earlier typed. *Evil grin*
