Everytime I go to Las Vegas, or Lake Tahoe, I put my cigarette out before going into a building because I am so programed! Once inside, I remember I am not in California anymore, you can smoke in Nevada! LOL

Wish we all could have been there too. From the threads it sounds as though the conference was a success! Thanks for the report!

Joe, the Mirage is one of my favorite Hotels! Did you go inside it? Of course it might be boring now after all of the new ones, like NY and Paris, but I still love it. They make great bloody Marys!

Also like Treasure Island, especially the Pirate ships! Glad they let you change rooms! Don't you hate when things just aren't done right? Sheesh! :)

We went inside the Mirage for just a few minutes.
We're actually staying in the Treasure Island.
It's been a good trip so far.

She, we won't be back home until Monday evening.

Oops, sorry! I forgot that you live way up north-it really wouldn't make sense to have A/C up there most of the summer. We worked for awhile today hanging light fixtures in our new house to get it ready for move-in, and even without the A/C on and just the windows and doors open, it was not unbearably hot. We couldn't say that about our present house in town-we would have been roasting without the A/C running. Think cool thoughts-autumn comes earlier and cooler up your way than it does here-we will be sweating until at least late September!

After event followup:

The awards dinner was a really nice event.
Peace Rose won a media Eagle award, The DC chapter got best new chapter, accepted by "his podness" Sauropod, John Robinson won the lifetime award, and no one deserves it more in my opinion, and Jeff Head won the FReeper of the year award.
Jeff gave an inspirational speech that really hit home, it seemed, for a lot of people.
There were a lot of people that got involved in the Klamath threads and Jeff gave credit to all of those folks.

On another note, if you were listening on FR radio, and ever wondered what I REALLY sound like, mine was the last question for the keynote speaker on how to get the younger folks involved with leaning conservative instead of liberal.

The food was quite good. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it WAS good. Some fish almondine, stuffed beef flank, pork cutlets, nicely done baby new potatos, and the trimmings.
Dessert, again, was fabulous.

The speakers all weekend long have been outstanding. They know how to articulate the thoughts that most of us seem to have in our heads that never seem to be able to come out.

That's all for tonight folks. It's been a long day and I'm still working on Central time, so it's off to bed I go.
Besides, the wife is waiting for me in bed. ;^)

Well, summer starts in June through September. We have no spring. We do have a beautiful Fall, where the leaves turn. But honest to God, when it's in the 80's down in Bangor, it's in the 70's up here. We are always 10 degrees cooler then southern Maine. But sometimes! We have heat waves, which just about kill us. My poor cat just can't take this. But, there is rain in the air, and calling for highs in the 70's rest of the week. So, hopefully, things will get back to normal.

Joe, thanks also, for telling JimRob that we all appreciate the Smoker's Lounge! It can get pretty heated, and I bet the Administrator goes nuts when we are all in there. But I am happy that you thanked JimRob for giving us the opportunity to have our forum. After all, being smokers doesn't make us any less of a Conservative!!!!
