Rock Bottom's...with the GIANT salads, I understand why this is a favorite of the BigGuy:
Beer:
Five house brews, all top-fermented ales, including Faller Wheat (a pale golden wheat ale), Pea Shooter Pale Ale, Raccoon Red, Brown Bear Brown, and Flying Salmon Stout. Like the brews served at the Rock Bottom in Portland, a consistent quality of Rock Bottom's beers seems to be that they are all rather light, perhaps reflecting the somewhat homogenized standards of a brewpub chain with operations in major cities across the USA; Rock Bottom has over a dozen stores across the USA, plus other operations, including the Old Chicago chain, the ChopHouse and Brewery, and the Walnut Brewery.
Food:
Fine range of bistro food, in some cases several notches up from standard tavern fare, and served in generous portions, including appetizers, soups, gigantic salads, and several bountiful pasta dishes, and a few southwestern-cuisine-accented platters. Dinner fare adds substantial main-course entrees. Prices, however, are not at the same low-to-moderate level as, say, the McMenamins places, as one might expect when ordering salmon cakes or steak dinners. Late-night menu is in effect for the last hour before kitchen closes.
Atmosphere:
Opened on September 9, 1996; owing to differences in location and layout, the Seattle store is rather unlike its Portland counterpart. Lunches are big business here, with power-suited yuppies well-represented, with a mix of tourists and other visitors in the summertime. Evenings are quieter, even at weekends, and weekend evenings are a bit quieter (so far) than at the Portland store, though there are still plenty of folks enjoying dinner and beers. The elements common to all of the Rock Bottom brewpubs are there, including the light touch with the beers, the somewhat upscale food menu, and the rather more yupscale clientele on weekdays. There are also pool tables off by the bar area, and an outdoor patio in front for the nice-weather days. For more information, have a look at the Rock Bottom web page. For those who like this sort of thing, there are also Rock Bottom outlets in Bellevue, and for those of you headed southward, in Portland.
Cheers. ;-)

It is true that Rock Bottom is a large chain, and I think in some of the other states where it exists, it goes under a different name....
But their food is really delicious, and their steaks are out of this world...
Sometimes its really busy there, depending on what time you get there....its in the heart of downtown, near lots of business offices and such...in fact, the first time BigDom and I suggested to Andy that we go there(because of a referral from a friend in Chicago, where RockBottom goes under a different name, I think), Andy said he was already familiar with the restaurant, as often him and friends from work(when he did work, in Seattle), would go there after work, and always very much liked it...
To: OneidaM
Well, all teenagers are despicable at one time or another, arent they? When Andy was 16, I began to think that military school might be an option for him....he was so rotten....Well, I thought he was rotten, he thought he was just fine...but in the end it all evened out...
But as long as you and your romance, had a somewhat romantical weekend, then alls well...ah, Romance...

Well, let's get the Brisbee franchise, set up in the firehouse/city hall and go for it.
Though I don't think a community of 17K could support such an enterprise.
Maybe I could just set up my grill and offer fried egg and bacon sandwiches in the morning - and gin and tonics in the afternoon.
A simple menu. But appealing to some I'd think.
Manana, friends.

welcome back
you were missed
before I left nyc I found my teen age diary and read it
it was just ages 14 till almost 15
I didn't write much in it during my 14th summer when I had my first boyfriend
but when I was sophmore in high school after that summer
I became aware he was rejecting me
the diary lasted from that Sept to December
I was in love with him, we had passionate love affair
I did not know how to deal with the rejection at all
finally by December I became philosophical about it and decided to accept it
it was interesting reading my diary, watching my young woman's mind trying to deal with it
what struck me was interspersed with that whole struggle
every few days I would comment ''mom is being difficult''
I gave no details, but I seemed to be sprised my mom had suddenly turned difficult
now that I see the struggle my brother and sil have with their teenage son
of course I am on their side
but I wonder if teenagers are struggling with things that are hard for them

Well, you do have a point about those sad looking bassets...but often, with Helga anyway, when she was happy, she would run around, her long ears blowing high, and I swear she had a grin on her pretty face...
But yes, they always do look 'forlorn' in general...but we know, they have happy, happy, souls and hearts...
To: habs4ever
hi habs
rofl
bassets exude contentment when they are happy
they are the most relaxed of all animals (I think)

To: andysandmikesmom
I agree
well stated
they have happy souls and happy hearts

To: palo verde
It is those happy hearts that make them jump on your head first thing in the morning....just when you get to the good part in your dreams ;-)
To: andysandmikesmom
Lod posted the cutest pic of a basset in front of a fan with his ears pinned back by the air flow. It's hard not to laugh at such dogs when you look at their faces and legs!!

I think so much of teen age problems is just they are in that in between stage...no longer a small child, but not yet an adult....
And dealing with things for the first time...as you found in, by reading your diary, ones first love, ones first rejection, can often be hard and traumatic...I always think, when a teen gets that first love rejection, they think they are going to die, that no one else ever suffered from being rejected....but the truth is, almost all of us have been rejected in love, at one time or another...its just the way of life...
And every teen has raging hormones, sometimes I think that makes them nuts...and of course, they think that their parents understand nothing at all of what they are going through, because they think their parents are 'old' and dont understand love and passions and all that...
Its all so complicated, so it seems...raising teenagers is hell compared to just having little ones around...Frankly, I mistrust any teen who is too good, or too sweet, or too docile, or too obediant...perhaps thats just the cynic in me, but when people brag on and on about their absolutely heavenly darling teenager, the warning flags and bells go up, at least for me....
Teen-age rebellion is as old as time, and has always been around....I guess the trick is to somehow temper that teen age rebellion with a firm, but loving hand...and that can be very, very tricky...
To: andysandmikesmom
maybe during teen age years is when we try to turn ourselves into an image
that causes lots of suffering
