I have finally arrived...fed the hubby and out the door he went, ready to tackle car brakes today...
Its quite cool here today....dont expect it to warm up a whole lot more...might get up to 73 or so....I know fall is in the air....it seems early, but I feel it...and I have one bush out back that confirms that....its the first bush in our backyard to begin growing new leaves in the spring, and the first bush to begin the leaves turning colors, as fall approaches...and all this week, it has slowly been turning yellow....of course, its still only late July, and we still have all of August to get through....
But this bush is turning yellow a little earlier than usual this year...wonder if that is a sign from nature, that our winter here will be more harsh than usual...
Palo, you had better get Miss Lulu some more of her tasty Krafts Singles...we cannot have her crying and hungry...she needs to maintain her hefty figure....
Gran, as usual your pics are eyepoppers, even tho some of them meant your running around in your nightey, for all the world to see...
Dark....you drawings remind me of my older boys artistic work...he loved to draw, and was really good at it...he always prefered to work only in pencil...very seldom used any colors....

At the turn of the century, Bisbee boasted 20,000 inhabitants. The saloons, gambling establishments and whorehouses (cribs), which were jammed in the Brewery Gulch, as it came to be known, were notorious through the west, attracting an array of visitors to the town. Brewery Gulch even boasted its own Stock Market Exchange. The original blackboard for chalking up quotes can still be seen today in the Brewery bar. Like Tombstone, the establishments vied to take the money out of the miners' pockets day and night, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. Unlike Tombstone, Bisbee has not "gussied up" its historic district or used myth and legend to sell its image. As a result, Bisbee remains a much more authentic witness of bygone times, a town complete with charm and not a few surprises tucked away in the hills.

Bisbee may be the place to be. The prices are DIRT CHEAP compared to Austin, and the taxes are so LOW! Please schedule a trip to check it out for us. ;-)

Palo, Loddy has planned a road trip for you....actually that sounds like the kind of place I might like to live, a place that retains its original 'flavor', rather than changing things to accomodate the tourists...
Do go there and give us all a report...
To: lodwick; palo verde
I just looked at that Bisbee link, and it looks really fun and fascinating, especially the old cemetary...I am a sucker for old cemetaries, and this one looks just right for an afternoon of meandering through the old graves, imagining what the inhabitants of those graves were like...
Bisbee has a shady past, an unplastic look to it, and has some fine vintage trailers, and such...I would love being in such a town...
I am writing all this down, for when me and BigDom go to visit Miss Palo and her gang in Tucson...a side trip to Bisbee is going to be a must...
To: andysandmikesmom; palo verde
I like your un-plastic type thinking on Brisbee - we need a man on the ground to check it out.
I still cannot believe how cheap are the property taxes. ;-)

COMMERCIAL - 1939 Restored Del Webb - Bisbee
This is a beautifully restored 1939 Del Webb building constructed with steal reinforced poured concrete. The three stories provides 33,000 square feet of commercial space and is presently at 65% occupancy with specialty shops, gift shops, restaurant with brew pub and a very popular coffeehouse with tourist and locals alike. The basement area is utilized for conventions, various locally sponsored shows, community activities and special events. This building also has its own large parking lot for future expansion plans.
Beautiful stairs lead to the mezzanine and down into the basement. It is also serviced by an elevator which meets the Americans With Disability Act standards.
It is located across the street from the Historic Copper Queen Hotel, Historical Museum and east of the Post Office and Bisbee Library, which is also a historic building. This area is the very heart of Old Bisbee and is the hub of year round tourist activity.
A brew pub and coffee! Heaven. ;-)

Bill fell in love with Bisbee when he visited and wants to move there
I like the prices of houses

he's takin' me swimmin', then we stop for Lulu's krafts singles
so I'll be back in a lil
I love you
Palo

Well, I looked at the places for sale, and if I could have my pick, I would want the firehouse/city hall....I have seen old fire houses converted into homes, and I just love them....so that is what I want...had I won Washington states lottery(30mil), then I would be moving to Brisbee, and purchasing that fire house...
Given that I did not win, and am still in our present financial situation, I will not be able to just yet move to Brisbee...sure is fun dreaming like this...
Sometimes BigDom and I go up to Tacoma, for a swell steak and fine freshly brewed Micro brew beers....its called the Engine House, and indeed, I do believe it used to be an old firehouse....
To me, there is just something charming and fun about living in an old converted firehouse..
To: palo verde
Have a good swim, and for goodness sake, get Lulu her Krafts singles...her poor tummy is probably crying out, for FOOD.....hurry, Palo, shes getting thinner by the minute...
To: andysandmikesmom
Food:
The scent of garlic, wafting from the kitchen, is one clue that the pizzas here, like the Milton Tavern's pies, are really quite good. Other items are also popular, including some good sandwiches, salads, and other pub fare.
Atmosphere:
Excellent conversion of former fire-station house into a fine pub. Nicely done interior, spacious without being cavernous, and the location makes this a very nice neighbourhood kind of place. The bar is sort of hidden away in the back, although easy enough to find, and well worth it, too, for the great selection and friendly service. The success of the E9, including its conversion to a brewpub, has resulted in the opening of an affiliated brewpub in Puyallup, the Powerhouse, also worth a visit.
Smoking Policy:
Allowed only in on the front patio; otherwise, pub is non-smoking.
Happy Hour, Specials:
Noted on whiteboard at the entryway, including food items.
Special Events:
As noted on flyers, and as posted.
Parking Situation:
Three parking lots are available, one on either side of the building, plus another one situated across the street, designated by a sign for patrons of the E9. On-street parking is also plentiful.
I can see why you love # 9. Excellent.

Wow, Loddy, you found our restaurant/pub....we have not been there in a while, but perhaps soon enough we will be going there again...BigDom always likes to sit in the back, near the bar...LOL....
Another place we enjoying going to is Rock Bottom restaurant/pub, when we visit the son up in Seattle...they have a larger menu than Engine House, and are a little more upscale, and have absolutely delicious food and beer...
What we like about both places, is the ability to take our 'growler' in and take home a fine growler of freshly brewed beer...
