ProFootballRumors ^

Posted on 07/20/2026 10:19:04 AM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

Goodell has drawn criticism on a number of fronts, with inconsistent discipline decisions and a reversal of the NFL’s stance on gambling once it was legalized among the topics which have led to scandals. Nevertheless, ownership has remained willing to extend his tenure on several occasions with minimal opposition emerging. No stumbling blocks to another deal are believed to exist.

Makes me wanna puke. All the drama the players put out not to mention the SB half time show.

Condi Rice would have put class back into the league. Picture the athletes thinking they continue to act like feral thugs.

The owners have decided the money is overseas!
So “f” the USA customer, he’ll sit, drink his beer, buy merchandise and watch no matter how much we insult him.

In the entertainment business it’s always about the money, and little else.

This is the world cup halftime from yesterday.

You might be surprised at what you see and here.....the nfl could learn a thing or two but I strongly suspect it is too far gone.

NFL revenue has been going up by a billion dollars a year. Hard to fire that guy. And there’s way less player drama than the end of Tagliabue’s era.

True but I’m no longer a customer.
I know the owners are lying awake at night worrying about that.

All sports suck now. About the only thing I watch is the World Series.

Born and raised on 1960s football - here in Texas it was a religion. Having said that in the last 10 years I have have gone from watching 3 games on Sunday and a Monday night game to only the Cowboys game once a week. College football is better but it too is quickly changing so that only a couple of favorites will be seen.

All that matters is the owners get richer, and Goodell delivers.

You’re right. Perhaps more September games should be played in the southern hemisphere where the weather is more spring-like. The billion dollar stadiums here would lose out. Japan has plenty of money. They could start the below equator games a week before Labor day. It’s not their holiday. West coast teams should all play a game in Hawaii. If it’s all about money they should do it.

With NIL and transfer portals, college football is not the sport it used to be. No loyalty to a school anymore, and that’s part of what made it fun. It’s all about the Benjamins now.

NLI & “the portal” has killed college football for me. I fake interest now only because I live in a college town.

The owners have decided the money is overseas!

So a city is threatened to have its football team leave unless it builds a 2 billion dollar stadium that will usually have 8-9 meaningful games a year, only to lose one of these to London or Rio De Janero.

The NFL was his first job out of college. It’s been his only job.

I think that’s happened!
My answer is leave.

Even though this is not a conservative\economic idea if Congress wants to get involved in doing something to regulate pro\college sports. It should do the following: Force pro football\basketball to directly adopt college football\basketball as professional minor leagues! End the hypocrisy that it has anything to do with higher education. The colleges\universities can lease their name and facilities to these pro-run “football\b-ball minor leagues” so people will have something to cheer about on Saturdays.

They should get someone who’d entertain very radical ideas. Like having actual musicians performing the Superbowl halftime shows. I know, right?

I fake interest now only because I live in a college town.

I live in Denton, TX, a town with not one but two large colleges, one of which is basically second-tier (UNT Mean Green), one of which is teamless. Since UNT isn't a player in the portal/NIL jungle, it might be fun to follow them. College football in general, though, has long since lost its cachet, at least since the beginning of the century.

Goodell is hell-bent on destroying the NFL, given his terminal infatuation with Woke-ness.

Reminiscent of Brian France neutering Noosecar.
