The owners have decided the money is overseas!

So a city is threatened to have its football team leave unless it builds a 2 billion dollar stadium that will usually have 8-9 meaningful games a year, only to lose one of these to London or Rio De Janero.

My answer is leave.

Even though this is not a conservative\economic idea if Congress wants to get involved in doing something to regulate pro\college sports. It should do the following: Force pro football\basketball to directly adopt college football\basketball as professional minor leagues! End the hypocrisy that it has anything to do with higher education. The colleges\universities can lease their name and facilities to these pro-run “football\b-ball minor leagues” so people will have something to cheer about on Saturdays.

They should get someone who’d entertain very radical ideas. Like having actual musicians performing the Superbowl halftime shows. I know, right?

You forget they rent out these stadiums for other events.
That Taylor Swift woman had an increase on the GDP of the USA last year when she toured the world selling out multiple dates in STADIUMS around the world.

The World Cup just brought in BILLIONS in revenue to the USA. Selling out stadiums in Foxboro, Dallas, NJ, Seattle, KC, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, etc.

I do not know what FIFA paid Robert Kraft to rent the stadium that the Kraft Group owns in Foxboro, MA. I suspect it was somewhere between $50K-$100K for each of the four games they played there. That does not include all the staff required to put on an event. From concessions to security.
There is a reason why municipalities are willing to help pay for these 1-2 billion stadiums. The annual tax revenue alone is a huge economic driver.
