I wouldn’t go that far. But some damage control is needed here. Trump doesn’t quite have the likability factor that Reagan had, but he (Trump) comes close when he wants to. Apply that here.
I’m still on my first cup of coffee, so I’m not quite sure how that damage control would be done. But it shouldn’t be an apology (Gibbs’ Rule #6). Just a brief explanation to reassure the base.
Then let it go.

The Pope's response: "
“We are not politicians. We do not look at foreign policy from the same perspective that he may have,’’ the pope said, adding, ”I will continue to speak out strongly against war, seeking to promote peace, promoting dialogue and multilateralism among states to find solutions to problems. Are is the money word their Pope used: "MULTILATERALISM". So if this Pope and this Vatican wishes to take this political position and move out of their lane then the whole lot of them are fair game to be exposed for their hypocrisy.

I wonder if this is intended to be the basis for a mural painted on the Arch. It was the same image of a winged Liberty found on the new renders, which is not how she is typically portrayed.

Trump could not have produced this meme__
Agree. But he posted it. It's on his account. He probably thought it was funny.
It's not funny.

I've been a staunch defender for years now. I can't defend this. Beyond anything else, it's just plain stupid. I can only think of one reason he may have done this -- to focus the attention of Christians for a big information reveal to come soon.
If it was a one-off meant to be funny, it's a disastrous mistake. It's not funny. It's tasteless and insulting to millions.

Odd. I checked about an hour ago, and it was still there.

Quote-The Trump meme might be awkward, ill-timed and likely from some staffer
I agree.... there is no way Trump could have produced the meme....
Quote-BUT there is zero “divinity” “clearly implied”
I disagree. The Sun and its bright rays piercing the clouds?......angelic figures in the skies and amidst the sun’s rays and clouds?.....come on. No mortal has such imagery associated with him.....
No big deal though

If the Pope is not a political leader then he should not weigh in on complex geo-political issues. Jesus was silent on such equivalent issues involving the Roman Empire..._

The Pope will be holding an audience with David Axelrod. What does that tell us?
