President Donald Trump announced Thursday afternoon a ten-day pause in his threat to order strikes against Iranian energy plants to give more time for the “ongoing” talks to potentially reach a deal.
The strikes against Iran, jointly conducted by the U.S. and Israel, have been controversial. Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in one of the strikes and another hit an elementary school, killing at least 175 people, mostly young girls who were students there. Trump denied responsibility but media reports have shown it was a Tomahawk missile that hit the school, a weapon that only the U.S. has, not Iran or Israel. Oil and gas prices spiked after Iran began launching its own strikes against area nations and closed the Strait of Hormuz.
Last Sunday, Trump had warned Iran that it if did not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, then the U.S. would begin bombing Iran’s energy plants to “hit and obliterate” them, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST!”
Trump’s plan to strike the plants was originally set to expire in 48 hours; he later extended that to Friday.
The president made the announcement about the paused strikes in a post on his Truth Social account, writing:
As per Iranian Government request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M., Eastern Time. Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

We get our embassy back.
IBT Taco Thursday TDSers.
No,no, no Mr. President, make them surrender like you promised.
Yes. Embassy back. That’s excellent. Trump should state as much. Art of the Deal. Or demand the mullahs take their turbans off and pose for a photo with Nick Shirley. While wearing USA Olympic hockey jerseys.
Wonder what’s up with this?
One hopes this new delay is to give our assets time to prepare for whatever comes next. Because there is major unfinished business: Hormuz and the enriched uranium.
“Claims Talks ‘Going Very Well’”
Mr President, as I’m sure you are aware, there is no talking with these barbarians; no negotiation. The ONLY measure of success is that they can no longer wage any manner of war against their own population or the rest of the world.
Islam is a cancer on humanity. They have been at war with civilization for nearly 1500 years. We are currently in the latest escalation of that war. It is one we dare not lose.
Go to Art of the Deal...page 211.
Have some faith.
3-D chess.
If you don't understand 3-D chess, ask Maduro. He knows.
He learned from Trump.
What the press continue to downplay is that we’re still bombing Iran, taking out their missiles and leadership.
Before he promised to make them surrender he promised no more regime change.
Prove me wrong.
I’ve never seen that strikes against Iranian energy plants was a good idea anyway. Not yet anyway.
My hope is for the Iranian people to rise up and arrest, put on trial, imprison, or hang the Ayatollahs, and form a decent government. If that happens, they’ll need the energy plants to build a prosperous nation.
If we’ve given up on an uprising, then bomb them into the stone age.
I can pretty safely say that whatever the real plan is, it will not be leaked or coming from “unnamed sources”. Trump has conducted two textbook-perfect operations - Maduro and the Ayatolla Assahola, and he has learned how it’s done. Hegseth and Rubio too.
All these public announcements about Iran giving us a “gift” and negotiations going “very well” are a bad idea. The IRGC is lying. They still are threatening and attacking (or at least trying to attack) ships in the Strait of Hormuz. Negotiate in silence and announce a deal when it is done and we are absolutely positively sure that it can be enforced.
Just thinking out loud here and this is a bit wild and dicey, but it's the way Trump thinks.I think Trump may be negotiating with the IRGC, and others, to give them assurances that if they join the plan, they will not be cut out. In a way, he and Bibi are telling everyone–the IRGC, the protesters, and the other factions–that Iran can be a very wealthy country if the goal isn't terrorism. To them, Trump says, "Join the economic world and build a real country. We will help you. But to make sure you do as you promise, we are going to hold Kharg Island as collateral until the plan starts working."
This is essentially what Trump did in Venezuela–and that template is instructive.
What happened there wasn't regime change in the traditional sense. It was an economic off-ramp with teeth. Maduro's inner circle–including military and intelligence figures who had been designated terrorists and narco-traffickers–were quietly told that personal immunity, asset protection, and a functional economy were available if they stopped blocking the transition. The oil sector was the lever. PDVSA's access to international markets was the reward for compliance.
It was coldly transactional. But it was also coherent in a way that Iraq and Libya never were, because it didn't require the bad actors to become good people–just to become paid people with a stake in stability rather than chaos. Iran is a far more complex society with far more capable institutions. But the core logic transplants directly.
Knock out one plant a day and slowly turn out the lights.

I’d say he’s talking with the sha’s son.
Making deals for oil,gas and rare earth, once all that is set up the rest of the guard is smoked.
He’s just not attacking the energy I dont have a problem with that in fact that only hurts the Iranian people, just destroy everything else but leave the energy alone for now..we have plenty more to do besides hitting their energy
