Cracker Barrel decided to put the old man out to pasture this week with a rebrand of its logo that almost everyone in the universe seems to hate. 👇

Anyway, did you know that the old timer in the Cracker Barrel logo is Uncle Herschel, the real uncle of the restaurant's founder, Dan Evins? He worked for the Martha White Flour Company for three decades and knew a thing or two about the importance of Southern general stores. He became the chain's goodwill ambassador to the public, shaping the restaurants to be a reflection of times past, when Americans could gather to talk, shop, play, and dine.
On its website, Cracker Barrel goes as far to refer to Herschel as the "soul" of the company.
They removed the "soul" from their logo? 😭

They whitewashed the walls?! Part of the fun of eating there was looking at the various old ads and memorabilia on the walls while playing the peg puzzle game.

Myy son and daughter-in-law liked it a lot for their 10 kids when they were on a family trip.
They want to appear chastened, without actually changing anything back. I liked the old CB. It was convenient for breakfast or lunch when we were visiting KY prior to moving here. It wasn’t fine dining, but it was OK food at a reasonable price (with no in-your-face Pride crap).
