It's been a long time since Big Pharma has delivered anything close to a cure for anything.
One dose of experimental drug nearly wipes out stealthy cholesterol in 'remarkable' trial Millions of Americans are born predisposed to high levels of a cholesterol called lipoprotein(a). Doctors are finally figuring out how to treat it.

It seems like all the drugs that come out these days are some kind of "treatment" designed to keep us dependent on Big Pharma for the rest of our lives, so a drug that can wipe out high cholesterol in one shot is kind of big news.
Lipoprotein(a) is a type of cholesterol that most tests are not designed to detect because there hasn't been any kind of treatment for it, and diet and exercise don't touch it.
It's the type of cholesterol that you only hear about when a person who is in great shape, eats right, and goes running every day, suddenly keels over from a heart attack in their 40s.
And 64 million people in the U.S. have issues with it.
The new drug called lepidisiran, that just passed its phase 2 clinical tests, blocks the body's natural mRNA from creating the harmful cholesterol, and blew the placebos out of the water, wiping out nearly 94% of Lipoprotein(a) in one shot.
'This is a major source of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality,' said Dr. Steven Nissen, chief academic officer of the Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic and lead researcher of the lepidisiran trial. 'We have never been able to treat lipoprotein(a) until now,' he said.
After one year, the patients' levels were still at an 89% reduction, so the effects do seem to wear off over time, but it's still a remarkable advancement.
Millions of Americans may be able to enjoy breakfast foods guilt-free again.
I have declined to go on statins at my last three Medicare annual wellness checks. Each time the caregiver has written “refused statins” in my chart. At the last visit the argument I was shortening my life was so strong I looked at him and said, “I have lived a good life and I am prepared to meet God at any moment.” The conversation immediately ended.
My cholesterol numbers are borderline, not off the charts and have been steady for decades. Yet the big push for me to take them did not begin until I went on Medicare. I wonder why.
im on medicare & that was their drug of choice for me, too.
I stopped taking them of my own accord, didnt even tell the pcp.
changed my eating habits- wrnt keto & OMAD , animal fats & olive oil & it
brought those numbers down . it was rough at first but got used to it.
Nothing after 4 pm for me & go to bed on empty stomach. I can cut it close by 5 but 4pm is better.
Cholesterol is vital for our body. People with higher cholesterol live LONGER than people with lower cholesterol. So the guy who says that cholesterol/LDL ‘is a major source of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality’ is a quack and should not be trusted even as dogwatcher, let alone as prescriber of a ‘miracle’ drug.
Statins almost killed my mom. Doc wanted to put me on them and I refused. I am now on Gemfibrozil...so far, so good...
I am 62.
I have had high cholesterol my entire life.
Tried five stations and couldn’t tolerate any of them.
Muscle weakness was the issue especially in my legs.
In January of 2024 my total number was 290.
In January of 2025 it was 206.
I made one change.
Intermittent fasting.
I fast two days a week.
Actually I fast from Sunday after dinner until Tuesday morning.
Then again from Wednesday after dinner to Friday morning.
So, technically I am fasting twice for about 36 hours each.
The rest of the week I eat normally.
I have also lost about twenty pounds.
On fasting days I drink black coffee, tea and water with a vitamin packet. No sugar, nothing with any calories.
I am wearing jeans I have not worn in years.
My wife is doing it too.

Numerous scientific studies have proven there is no link between cholesterol levels and heart attacks and strokes.
Statins are bad for you and your liver. This drug blocks your bodies natural mRNA from creating so called bad cholesterol...minor issue since the fake mRNA from the jab creates clots for you.
I’ll pass on this drug like all others.
Elon Musk's worker nicknamed Big Balls?
My mother had high cholesterol and high blood pressure most of her life.
She lived to be 96.
“At least 20% of the total cholesterol in your body is in the brain. If your brain does not have enough cholesterol, it is not good. Whatever this new development is, be careful.”
Yep, one of the serious downsides of having cholesterol too low is that leads to the brain not getting enough, and thus dementia.
Bottom line is that ‘high’ cholesterol MIGHT be indicative of a serious problem, but if it’s coupled with high triglycerides, then than chasing cholesterol numbers is going after the WRONG target.
Did you find out through research or injury?
Interesting. I have high Triglyceride (182), an LDL of 101, HDL of 42, and a Total cholesterol of 173.
I am dealing with Stage 2 CKD and hypothyroidism.
My PCP has me on 10MG of Rosuvastatin daily.
For the past year UI have been feeling progressively ‘crappier’ among other things.
Looking at the Rosuvastatin side effects listed under ‘Information for Professionals’ I am exhibiting a good many - between 1/3 and 1/2 of them.
I think it’s time to stop the statin w/o telling my PCP. We’ll see how the next blood workup looks but more importantly, how I feel.
God calls us home on HIS schedule. If he wanted us to live forever, we would.
My mother once told me that God wants us to live long, healthy lives and that’s why he gave us Doctors and medicine to keep us healthy.
Lately I am thinking that it isn’t God giving us these miracle drugs.
“ Numerous scientific studies have proven there is no link between cholesterol levels and heart attacks and strokes.”
Not true. High cholesterol, particularly high LDL levels are well-linked with cholesterol plaques in the arteries, and there are some specific genetic relationships , known as familial hypercholesterolemias, between high cholesterol and cardiovascular diseases.
The drug in this article goes after a specific cause of such disease, lipoprotein (a). If you have this variant, this drug sounds very promising.
I found out thru word of mouth and then research. Word of mouth was when someone told me they had not taken the prescribed statin but when & started taking red rice yeast, its a supplement noted for lowering cholesterol.
Where, exactly, does a person's body create mRNA, that was developed in a laboratory?
True and here’s just a few...
The researchers, led by Dr Uffe Ravnskov at the University of Lund, Sweden, looked at 19 existing studies which considered the association between ‘bad’ LDL cholesterol levels and the overall risk of death in people aged over 60. They concluded that 92 percent of people with a high cholesterol level lived longer, and called for a re-evaluation of the guidelines for cardiovascular prevention, “in particular because the benefits from statin treatment have been exaggerated.”
Abstract: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30198808/
For half a century, a high level of total cholesterol (TC) or low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) has been considered to be the major cause of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease (CVD), and statin treatment has been widely promoted for cardiovascular prevention. However, there is an increasing understanding that the mechanisms are more complicated and that statin treatment, in particular when used as primary prevention, is of doubtful benefit.

“There have been decades of research designed to deceive the public and physicians into believing that LDL causes heart disease, when in fact, it doesn’t,” said David Diamond, Ph.D., a professor in USF’s Departments of Psychology and Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology, and a co-author of the article. “The research that has targeted LDL is terribly flawed. Not only is there a lack of evidence of causal link between LDL and heart disease, the statistical approach statin advocates have used to demonstrate benefits has been deceptive.”
#1 Correlation is not the same as causation.
#2 The LDLs lowered by most (if not all) by statins are the wrong LDLs that cause problems. You do know there are many different LDLs, didn't you?
#3 Instead of statins, with their many known side effects, an improvement of diet and exercise would be the best course of improvement on health.
#4 Cholesterol all alone is a very poor bio-marker of health which is something the health industry overlooks because of the enormous money generated by statins.
Believe what you want, but high cholesterol will give you heart attacks and strokes.
Had I followed “the science” I’d be stuck with long COVID or dead from the vax.
Thankfully no one in my family did and we’re all good.
