Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

Caught a five to stay alive!
I have decided that I want a All American 941, 41 Quart Pressure Canner for Christmas. This is my current wish after canning 37 quarts of green beans in my little All American 915. I had to do six, count them, SIX batches. In the 941 I would have only had to do two. We also did five quarts of peaches to fill up the empty space. Peaches did pretty good this year. Plums not so much. Have no idea why.
Oh and youngest son is now thinking that being drafted for kitchen duty is not all that bad. Sure there are times of great activity but also times there is nothing to do but wait. Like right now when we are waiting for batch number six to finish. And we get to get on the computers and goof off. For another 29 minutes.
Glad you have a new knob on the door Face. And always listen to your inner voice when something gives you the creeps.
Yes, Good news for both! I did such a horrible job on the painting, though, he just couldn’t resist commenting. But it’s all good. Mom is human after all!
It will be bedtime here, shortly. The mail will be very late today.
Have a good weekend!
Believe it or not, yes!! They exist outside of the workplace!
The people who are fostering the kitteh seem to be very nice and have gone above and beyond what was expected of them. So hopefully, Kitteh won’t be too taumatized by the change.
Sorry about the impulse shopper. I had one of those, and I know exactly what you’re going through!
Unfortunately, we end up with a large package of something that one person wants a few bites of, and then the rest sits and spoils.
Sigh.
Good job on your fiver!
I haven’t don’t any canning since the summer my Favorite Son enlisted in the army way back when, though I have a niece in Idaho (one of several in that state) who is the canning queen. She has it organized and regulated like an assembly line, and her work is excellent. I don’t know what she uses though, to process the batches. State of the art, no doubt.
This same son could put a meal on the table for a family of four and have everything hot (or cold, as the case may be) when he was 14, so kitchen duty is fun to him, even after all these years. His wife cooks, he cleans up. He cooks, he still cleans up.
Yeah, that inner voice has never failed me. I’ve failed to listen a time or two, but paid for it dearly. So I listen, these days.
Yeah. I get it. And I’m so sorry.
Life is full of minor glitches like a Costco shopper and major glitches like Tom the Son.
I’m so sorry for both. I wish I could do something to help. Maybe I could add an extra prayer for you in the next few days. Take heart and look for some peace.
It’ll all come out in the wash, so to speak. That reminds me, I learned about company where Tom can maybe apply to work.
Except for my mother.
I have to admit it is not my favorite job either. But if I have to do so do they. :)
I hope Tom does apply for work at that company you mentioned. That would be a relief for several of you. One in particular.
Look at that sweet face!
Good morning.
I hope you had a good night without cat pillows or other disturbances.
The dreams last night were really weird, really vivid and larger than life. I was glad to wake up, though I only woke up because I was cold. Some fool had reset the mattress pad an hour too soon, so it shut off an hour too early.
I don’t want to paint the door, but next week is all doom and gloom again, and Ima hate it.
I hope so, too. I’d make him apply at the Corning auto-glass plant or other manufacturing facilities, but with his back injury, that wouldn’t work out. He’s going to the doctor again next week.
I had a pillow cat. He went away, eventually, and I slept in until 6:30.
I’ll go water the garden and the flowerbeds when I finish this cup of coffee, and then I need to make song pages for choir practice.
*tagline*
Backs are funny things. I injured my back as a child (toddler, actually) and should never have taken any job that had me standing for long periods.
Better he find something where he can sit down after a while. Otherwise, a lifetime of back problems awaits him.
I don’t know when the mail came, but I do know it was late yesterday. I just went out this morning to get the latest card.
I’ve been sitting here for close to an hour, and though I’m dressed, my hair isn’t combed and I haven’t had my pills and breakfast. This is going to be a topsy-turvy day, I think.
I’m still sitting here, too. Time to get breakfast, water plants, make pages!
I need to call the Hispanic Ministry chairwoman, but it’s too early, especially on a Saturday. I’ll text her a little later to see if we can talk after choir.
