Pieces of ‘fireball’ meteor that exploded over Mississippi are being found, NASA says

Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says

The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.

“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”

And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.

“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

But you had a sudden success there at the end.

Yes, indeed, it was! But at least you got it in four!

You GO!

I hope you have an enjoyable day! It sounds fun!

Except for Frank.

I need to finish my letter to Charlie, then start on the door before the sun comes over the yardarm.

The water was only tolerably warm today, but at least I smell better!

I’m tired already. Go figger.

Happy Friday! And a 9/80 flex Friday for me! 😃

It looks like it *might* rain this morning. (C’mon, c’mon, c’mon…)

I hope everyone is feeling well and that Princess-dog is at the start of a loooooong streak of no seizures.

My two standard starter words gave me all of the letters, so I just had to unscramble them.

Good Friday Morning!

A bit of a struggle with this one... the resultant five train ride now gives me one more five train rides (55) than four train rides...

Both of you did much better than I did.

If it hadn’t been for my second starter word, I’d still be struggling.

I just painted the outside of the door, but will wait to do the inside until tomorrow. The brush is cheap and the bristles are different lengths across the ferrule, so there are streaks. It will need a second coat.

The new doorknob will have to be put on before I get too tired. The old one is scary.

I know I’m going to regret this extra activity. But the “maintenance” guy gives me the creeps. I’ll do as much as I can in the way of repairs just to keep him out of my house.

If I could find a shipping container already converted into an apartment in Utah, I’d buy it in a heartbeat! ;o]

We had a nice visit to the Museum of York County, SC. The presenter gave a really good lecture, and the students seemed really involved.

I’m glad to hear that!

I had to stop everything and just sit, so I answered some cards that had piled up. There is another in today’s mail, but I don’t know when that will get here.

Of course FS came and installed the doorknob for me because my mind had quit working, but he had nothing but compliments for the door I had painted. NOT! Then I told him it was me and the consensus was that maybe a second coat of paint would help.

Is it time for bed, yet?

Kitty should be here the 28th!

Friday. Some days are quieter than others. Not to mention the fact that other days, it’s just so hard to interact. Sorry about that!

The weekends are much quieter, with usually just me and T-c with an occasional visit by allegra and zzeeman. Sometimes, other folks will check in, but not often.

Good news on kitty and that you didn’t have to install your own doorknob.

It’s bedtime somewhere.

OK, I’m going to put this here so Face can grab the 00. I’m probably done for the week. Have a good weekend everyone.

I’m excited about the imminent arrival of the kitteh, and also the doorknob.

The impulse shopper went to Costco while we were out. Sigh. The great thing about food you already have is that you already paid for it!
