Caught a five to stay alive!
I have decided that I want a All American 941, 41 Quart Pressure Canner for Christmas. This is my current wish after canning 37 quarts of green beans in my little All American 915. I had to do six, count them, SIX batches. In the 941 I would have only had to do two. We also did five quarts of peaches to fill up the empty space. Peaches did pretty good this year. Plums not so much. Have no idea why.
Oh and youngest son is now thinking that being drafted for kitchen duty is not all that bad. Sure there are times of great activity but also times there is nothing to do but wait. Like right now when we are waiting for batch number six to finish. And we get to get on the computers and goof off. For another 29 minutes.
Glad you have a new knob on the door Face. And always listen to your inner voice when something gives you the creeps.
Good job on your fiver!
I haven’t don’t any canning since the summer my Favorite Son enlisted in the army way back when, though I have a niece in Idaho (one of several in that state) who is the canning queen. She has it organized and regulated like an assembly line, and her work is excellent. I don’t know what she uses though, to process the batches. State of the art, no doubt.
This same son could put a meal on the table for a family of four and have everything hot (or cold, as the case may be) when he was 14, so kitchen duty is fun to him, even after all these years. His wife cooks, he cleans up. He cooks, he still cleans up.
Yeah, that inner voice has never failed me. I’ve failed to listen a time or two, but paid for it dearly. So I listen, these days.
