Meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom,' NASA says
The “bright fireball” was traveling at 35,000 mph when it exploded at 8:03 a.m. with the “energy equivalent of 3 tons of TNT,” according to NASA Meteor Watch, the agency's project that tracks fireball activity.
“Existing law states that any meteorites belong to the owner of the property on which they fell; out of respect for the privacy of those in the area, we will not disclose the locations of these finds,”
And finding anything of value is likely harder than you think.
“The pieces from this object were way too small to leave a crater. Unlike what you see in the movies, meteorites are not ‘flaming rocks of doom’ that blast holes in the ground. In fact, you can pick one up right after it hits ground. So no smoking rocks in small craters.”

That's what has made these 10n F days tolerable... the fact that the humidity has been pretty low... The AC is great... for when I come inside, but I spend most days outside... pretty much until sundown... but I have been coming in for an hour or so siesta in the mid afternoon... 😴
Those are still common in some areas. My apartment in Hurricane had a “swamp cooler” on it as well as a totally inefficient window air conditioner, but during the monsoon months (mid-June to late August) the swamp coolers are totally useless. When one is used to single digit humidity, 11% can feel as miserable as 95% does, here.
We just had some seriously threatening thunder and dark clouds, but it passed without any further ado.
I had the lights out at 8:00 last night and slept pretty well, all things being equal. And not a bad day at the range with James and his hair.
I’m glad it passed you by!
We’re supposed to get some of those tonight. I learned to hate T-storms when I spent a spring and summer in SD the first year I was married. That has managed to be rekindled since I’ve been here.
Excellent!
Are you done with your part of camp, now? Or will you have to go back tomorrow?
I’ve decided I want to go see “Top Gun: Maverick,” but my movie buddy has already seen it. It’s also almost $11 for the matinee. I didn’t see anything on the website about senior prices, but I think I’ll check when they send the next email.
Here’s hoping I sleep half-way good tonight. I think I did too much today. Or maybe it’s that I didn’t rest a day in between yesterday and the work I did today. But progress. The closet has a bit more space in it and there are two more boxes for donation than there were yesterday.
Is the hair a good shot?
James manages to be a good shot from behind the hair.
I’m done with staff. I’ll leave on Saturday with Kathleen for our turn as campers at a different camp.
Ah. So a day or two of rest from camp on the way to a day or two of rest at camp. Cool beans.
I’m going to behave myself tomorrow and try not to do anything that isn’t absolutely necessary. Right. I’ll see how that works out.
I found out why the theater charges so much — recliners with tables. I feel like I’m UPtown, now! ;o]
Anyway, off to bed. My eyes are trying to tell me something, like maybe I need to shut them.
If I tried to watch a movie in a recliner, I’d fall asleep.
Five out of six today.
And we got some rain last night. Yay!
Also a tornado. Boo!
But the tornado did not touch down. Yay!
But the wind did do a number on the neighbors garbage bins. Boo!
But he did clean it up. Mostly. Yay? I guess?
And that was my day in a nut shell.
A solid effort before turning in for the nigh— er, morning.
I guessed this 5-letter word in 3/6 tries.

It’s been so long since I sat in a recliner, I have no idea what I’d do. The movie is 131 minutes long, and if it isn’t “on the edge of your seat” it won’t be worth the $11 paid for it anyway.
I don’t have a ride, and I hate going to movies alone, so I probably won’t get to see it. The theater is over behind Walmart, which isn’t that far, but it’s over the freeway so I can’t walk it.
What a sweet little face!
Good morning. I hope your night was without cats or other disturbances.
Mine wasn’t too bad. At least I wasn’t up in the night again!
Good morning. Happy Humph Day!
Not much excitement to report here. F-I-L has a sore elbow but doesn’t understand why. He didn’t do that much. It shouldn’t matter that he’s almost 90. Nothing Tylenol won’t take care of, if he’ll remember to take 2 pills instead of just one.
I was able to guess today’s word.

Sorry about your F-i-L. He’s doing pretty good for a gentleman of his age.
How is Princess Dog?
I’m glad the tornados missed you!
Good job on the Wordle!
Surprise, surprise!
