What the heck is going on with our military in Kabul?

If you’ve had any experience with civilian extractions, there are a whole lot of things in Afghanistan that don’t add up.

One year ago, we had 2,500 U.S Military on the ground in Afghanistan in a non-combat advisory and over-watch role. They could go pretty much anywhere in the country and were not taking any casualties. Things were relatively stable by Afghanistan standards.

Yet somehow today, despite having 5,000 troops on the ground from the Marines and 82nd Airborne – that is, fully-armed combat infantry – our military is besieged inside a three-square-mile perimeter at Kabul airport surrounded by Taliban guerillas. We are told that their only mission is securing the airport perimeter and we see them struggle even with that task, as hundreds of Afghan civilians swarm the tarmac and clamber onto airplanes taxiing to takeoff.

Somehow, we are supposed to believe our forces have no capabilities to go out to rescue trapped American citizens, Afghan translators, and other Afghans who worked for us. Somehow, we are not supposed to see up-armored HUMVEEs and MRAP vehicles or the Apache helicopter gunships used to clear civilians off the runways a few days ago. We are also not supposed to see the Chinook helicopters they used a few days ago to get everyone from the embassy onto the airfield.

We are supposed to believe the U.S. military forgot how to set up alternative pickup points around the city, whether back at the old embassy, at other locations around Kabul, or outside the city in a remote field someplace. We just forgot how to contact trapped Americans by text message or covert means to set up a rendezvous with the Chinooks before the Taliban figure out where they are, with Apaches in over-watch security just in case.

There was no preparation for the evacuation. Our troops can be moved in harms way on short notice. They do so after extensive training in killing the enemy. To my knowledge they do not practice surrender, retreat and evacuation of civilians. I suspect if there was advanced warning from the Biden Administration that evacuation plans would be put in place, and training would occur.

The military is blunt instrument. Biden, Obama, and Neo-cons do not get that. They think the military is something that they can dust off when needed to do any job and too many jobs that are not a military function. In their arrogance, they think a military function is anything they say it is.

These people are with out real world experience. They never ran a business. Most never had jobs outside of government. They certainly haven't built anything from the ground up.

Do not blame the troops on the ground. Most found out they were going Thursday night, a week ago. That was their preparation. Blame Biden. Blame woke generals that did not push back. Blame the IC. Blame DOS. Have we heard any protests from these people in the last several months? No. They either went along to get along or they were blind-sided by Biden at the last minute with mission that no one prepared.

I watched the interview of journalist Laura Logan on Fox Nation with Tucker Carlson. She explains how the government wants this Afghanistan abandonment to happen just as being done.

I don't buy that. I think it is just a bunch of incompetent people at the WH and DOS making the decisions at the urging of dem party leadership. DOD leadership is likely just a bunch of yes men...

It looks like the General forgot to put on his mascara today.
Maybe some PhotoShop wizard here can do it for him?

Hate to disagree, Travis, but I think it’s not (just) the Chinese; I think O’Muslim is involved too.
Remember who his VP was.

I can make an educated guess. The military detachment there is under a tight leash due to deals made by Biden and his team, in order to prevent a threatened massacre. It's the old ROE game once more. We won't know for a while, but we will find out.

BTW, post 2 needs to go. Those guys are out there in a war zone and don't need that sort of crap. IMHO.

5000 troops vs an entire city where even if the individual person is not an enemy it’s very important to their survival to not appear to be an ally. That’s what happens when you lose control. If we send people out there now they will die. Period, we’re not in charge anymore. The Taliban are. Unless we’re willing to put in like a quarter million troops to actually take back the city it’s a no go.

We are supposed to believe the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and everyone else in military and civilian leadership are unable to read about how to do non-combatant evacuation as described in U.S. Joint Publication JP3-68 “Noncombatant Evacuation Operations,” which is downloadable from the public website along with its own multimedia training presentation.

I told my wife this yesterday. I spent 4 of my uniformed years teaching wartime contingency planning and personally covered this subject with thousands of students.

The only explanation is that someone at the highest levels won't let the military do what in knows how to do.

Maybe because whoever is in charge at the White House told Smiley Milley to stand down and that is what he ordered the troops to do so we don’t offend any of the Taliban.

Corrected:

Maybe because whoever is in charge at the White House in Martha's Vineyard told Smiley Milley to stand down and that is what he ordered the troops to do so we don’t offend any of the Taliban.

I said to a friend yesterday that the tell this is a setup is that the only fall guy is Biden himself.

That speaks volumes as to who is 'in charge' because Harris has no sway over intelligence & military. And my comment about Zero is sarcasm (I don't believe he's pulling the strings all by his lonesome for a second).

When a commie CIC purges the leadership and replaces it with woke desk jockeys who hate the military and America, this is what you have.

Don’t be surprised if China comes to the rescue. What better way for Chomo Joe to further humiliate America then have his Chinese owners rescue our military and civilians from Afghanistan? Who will Heels Up Harris be meeting with in Viet Nam?

It is said that a fish rots from the head down. That seems to be true for our military today and it did not happen overnight. From the Commander in Chief, Joseph Robinette Biden, the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd J. Austin III and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, comes the leadership and direction of our U.S. military. There is currently a purge of conservatives from the military. My greatest respect lies with them. The troops at the tip of the spear follow orders and do their best to accomplish the desired outcomes. They have my respect, but also my sympathies.

Advancement is currently weighted in favor of ideology and diversity instead of merit. There is indoctrination in "white fragility", "white privilege", "gender fluidity" and Critical Race Theory. The troops who do not follow the new direction will not last long.

I respect our military that we used to have. I respect some of the military today, but none of the leadership. I don't respect where the military is headed.

The problem with our military in Kabul is that they were following orders.

For our military in general I hope that they have not become too woke to wake up.
