Trial by jury has become a bit tainted. I’m not sure the OJ trial was the start of that, but that incident made it pretty stark that some jurors just won’t convict under any circumstances.
But I do expect that to become a two-way street. If I’m on a jury, and some guy is accused of something that I would consider self defense (and, hey, my definition of that is incredibly broad) then I would not vote for conviction under any circumstances.
We need to defend ourselves, and juries need to shrug it off. Let’s get back to a polite society.

One reason for the 'defund the police' movement is police are standing with conservative Americans and will NOT follow orders to murder fellow citizens.
'Progressives' know 'defunding' the police causes more crime AND SHORT TERM POWER PROBLEMS - but what looks irrational is part of the plan.
THE CURRENT CROP OF COPS WILL NOT MASS-MURDER CITIZENS. Defunding gives power to people who will mass murder their fellow 'citizens'.
Plan B is to have patriots drummed out of the military then announce (with shock) that there aren't enough gays and transgenders to fill the ranks AND it's going to be a forced draft OR upping the numbers of illegals serving (in exchange for citizenship.) Americans will go with 'MORE ILLEGALS' in the military. Picking and choosing from among cultures known for a willingness to 'following orders'... will follow... Then the military becomes the group that rounds up and murders American citizens.
