Natural Plutonium Discovered Beneath The Oceans Shows Cataclysmic History
YouTube ^ | May 27, 2021 | Scott Manley (fly safe)

Plutonium is generally thought of as an artificial element created by humans, primarily to make the pits of nuclear weapons, but naturally occurring plutonium can be found in ancient rocks. Plutonium 244 is the longest lived isotope of Plutonium, but it's not easy to make, and finding this specific isotope in interstellar dust grains laid down on the ocean floors tells us important things about the formation of the elements that make up the Earth.

Based on this paper:
60Fe and 244Pu deposited on Earth constrain the r-process yields of recent nearby supernovae A. Wallner et al

Actually the Hindu Vedas describe what appears to be atomic wars that occurred before the last “Earth Cycle”. An Earth Cycle is the time it takes the Earth’s poles to precess 360 degrees, about 28,000 years. Interesting stuff.

It’s much more likely that accounts of that kind describe impacts from space, however:

No. The exact translation refers to Time, not Death.

BG 11.32: The Supreme Lord said: I am mighty Time, the source of destruction that comes forth to annihilate the worlds. Even without your participation, the warriors arrayed in the opposing army shall cease to exist.

There are other passages you could fit that nuclear interpretation to but it would be heavy confirmation bias and wrong, IMHO. [/snip]

Precession takes about 26,000 years to complete, assuming that it does complete, and is primoridial.

Whoops, “assuming that it does complete, and is primoridial.” s/b “assuming that it does complete, and assuming that it is primoridial.”

In the Bhagavad Gita, there aree stories of wars one could conclude were nuclear.

Same here. I’m not saying I believe it or am a proponent, but it’s worth considering, until convincing evidence against it presents itself.

Unfortunately the abstract didn’t give the ratio of iron-60 or plutonium-244 to their daughter isotopes to give an idea when they were deposited.

Two potential natural sources. First, every element heavier than iron came from inside a star, just like our sun is made up of stuff roaming about the universe from earlier stars that blew up. That is how baby stars happen — older, bigger ones blew up.
2nd, plutonium could have come from another one of those natural reactors in earth’s crust — like the one found near the eastern coast of Africa. Around Nigeria if I recall the map correctly.
I guess they don’t teach this stuff in high school physics anymore. Shame.

Hi.

Thanks for the ping.

As you know I’m not a nuclear physicist.

Can someone tell me how the Uranium on earth got the extra neutrons?

Thank you.

It has bee theorized that the center of the Earth’s hot core is due to continuous nuclear fission reactions.............
