OLYMPIA, Wash. - Say it ain't so, beer lovers: Olympia Beer, a mainstay of bar taps and college parties for decades, is pausing production.
Pabst Brewing Co. made the announcement in an Instagram post Monday. The owner of the iconic local brand said the decicion came afer a decline in the beer's sales.
"Sadly, we have not been able to find a solution to the challenges posed by reduced beer sales and have had to make the difficult deciscion of temporarily pausing production of Olympia Beer," the company said on the beer's Instagram page.

We lived on Oly when I was in the Navy, we could not afford PBR ;)
Collecting dots on the label back and turning them in for free beer was a favorite pastime for us Marines.
Horrible beer. But I had no choice in college

I’ve had far worse.
I had a cousin who did public relations work for Olympia back in the ‘80s and met with Eastwood and his people a few times during those movies. Eastwood was an Oly fan and they were more than happy to provide the beverages, the taps, the neon lights, etc. for the sets.

So, you do not need to be good to be iconic.

I used to drink a lot of Olympia beer about 40 years. I haven’t seen it for a long time.
Black label beer, old Milwaukee, schlitz, and more im sure. Slight Beer flavored water.
Old mildew was the “mechanics beer”
Most so-called “beer experts” wouldn’t even know the difference between good and bad beer. I bartended in college for corporate parties and poured 10 glasses from imported Belgian beer to mexican beer.
NO ONE got it right, and at least 20 of them claimed to be “beer experts”. Pathetic. The goal of beer is to get a buzz. That’s it. Anyone claiming to say it’s for the taste is a bullsh*tter..
