Archaeologists Suggest Stonehenge's Huge Blocks Arrived by Land, Debunk Raft Theory

Last year, scientists from Newcastle University in the UK suggested that pig fat could have been used to move the stones to create Stonehenge.
Archaeologists may have debunked the theory that stones for the world famous Stonehenge were sent via rafts from Wales to Salisbury Plain, a study published in the Journal of Archaeological Science says.
The recent study using chemical analysis showed that the six-tonne sandstone from Stonehenge matches rocks in Abergavenny, just a few miles from the English border.
Thus the study shows that the stones could have been carried overland, debunking the theory that they were taken south to Milford Haven and put on rafts or slung between boats, paddled up the Bristol Channel and along the Bristol Avon to Salisbury Plain.
"This totally destroys the raft theory, it blows it out of the water. This is our second re-examination of the bluestones, but it is our first major finding", Dr Rob Ixer, from University College London said.
The research comes after a neolithic structure larger than any comparable prehistoric monument in Britain dating back 4,500 years was uncovered 1.9 miles (3 km) northeast of Stonehenge, with a series of vast shafts found to have been aligned to form a circle.

If they merely suggest, that hardly qualifies as debunked.
To: SunkenCiv
Do they really know? They think they know now however something could come along in the future and change all of that. Building Stonehenge is amazing in itself. Arguments about how they did it are for the academic community to have.

Who on earth could have been motivated to drag 30 ton stones 20 miles? Must have been one hell of an incentive.
To: SunkenCiv
the stones were put up (Not really- but the following story is fascinating too- folks might enjoy it along with this article) using a 'secret technology' that the following skinny, sickly tuberculosis victim used to not only build the following 'Coral Castle', but to dismantle and then reassemble miles away- all by himself- many of the blocks weighing tons- Fascinating story really- Folks claimed he knew the secrets of the ancient Egyptians- he worked alone, cutting all the coral out of the land himself- transporting it all to the site, then again disassembled it all and moved it when he ran into problems with the original location- He built it all for his sweetheart, who never did come to America to marry him

The effort to move all those stones ANY distance must have been monumental (no pun intended) which begs the question: WHY? Why would a primitive culture spend so much energy when it took so much time and energy just to survive. (or were they as primitive as archaeologists believe?)
Why is there NO evidence of HOW they moved those stone monoliths?
Astronomers all talk about life throughout the galaxy... intelligent life some of which could be millions of years advanced than our own. They also talk about ways to quickly traverse the cosmos through wormholes. Yet so many are so quick to dismiss the Ancient Alien guys, yet they have no answers themselves.
These kings of artifacts, including Puma Punku stone blocks and the megalithic stones of OLLANTAYTAMBO, and the huge stonework and vitrified ruins of Peru. These sites and objects fascinate and boggle the mind. The how and why go beyond a simple explanation.
