Chinese are colluding with the mainstream media, abetted by the DNC, to create panic that is being spread to the markets creating a crisis for Trump’s economy.

There are too many people in this world who make decisions based on emotion instead of logic. The number of corona virus posts is just one more example of this fact.

I spoke on the phone to an old friend yesterday. When I brought up the virus she had no clue what I was talking about.

Rat trolls are everywhere where they think they’re ‘getting away with something’...
Have some fun with them by suggesting we split the country into two countries and ‘THEY CAN HAVE EVERYTHING THEY WANT THE MINUTE THE INK IS DRY ON THE AGREEMENT’...
Suggest the fun of THEIR country being able to have open borders, reparations for all people of color, legal abortion up until birth and a week later in case the baby is ugly, Warren or Bernie as President, guns confiscated from ALL citizens... then watch ‘em run from it... The cool thing is they have so little insight into their own motives and personalities they don’t know why they hate the idea of getting what they think they want.

Living in NYC, I caught a dose in that ‘68 “pandemic”. Was sick for a week, but as a young, healthy adult I got through it OK.
Today, living in rural WV, I’m a 75 year old with COPD and limited personal contacts. My flu and pneumonia shots are up to date, so there ain’t a helluvalot more I can do.
I gotta say though, I find this all rather interesting. Not sure whether the www is a good or bad thing WRT panic vs. info.......we shall see

Well, I’M sure as hell not cheering it on. Too many of my immediate family have high risk factors. Mom is a few months over 89 - reasonably healthy for her age, but, feeble. My daughter has asthma. A bad cold piled on and put her in the hospital for 3 days, a few years back. One brother has only 1/3 of his lungs left (flu lead to necrotic pneumonia) and the scar tissue itself is vulnerable. I am for some reason prone to getting deep chest colds that take months to go away.
As for COVID-19, what do we know? It is very contagious— not “crazy contagious” like measles, but, up there with the cold viruses to which it is similar. The fatality rate per confirmed cases appears to be in the neighborhood of 1-2%. One Chinese study came back at over 4%, but, that was in Hubei Province where some (not all) the hospitals are questionable, and the health care system was totally overwhelmed. Hospitals here in the US are quite busy this time of year. It would not take much more to run us out of hospital beds and ICU’s, much less advanced ventilators.
Then there is the economic impact. Ouch. My family is already feeling that one.
End of days? Heck no.
Rough ride ahead? How many cases in the US do you predict by this time, next year, short of Chinese style restrictions to contain COVID-19? You can even guesstimate twice to allow for varying weather conditions.

Not any more. I just managed to find 300 N95 masks, got a year’s worth of canned Chili con Carne and remembered to get the toilet paper before our stores start rationing it like they are doing in Hawaii.
***************************************
Well with that much chili, you’re definitely going to need the masks and TP.

In terms of the disease, I’d say the countries to watch at this point (besides our own) are Italy and S. Korea.

The thing is, are the number of cases increasing, just because we’re finally testing for them?
So does that mean that the cases are really growing, or are we just learning about cases that have already been there for perhaps weeks, and that maybe it’s not really growing all that much?

I’d guess some of both.
The track record of how infectious COVID-19 is in absence of draconian containment measures is fairly well established — and if we need more data from “fairly decent” and most likely “honest reporting” countries, Italy and S. Korea are providing it.

That’s why I believe South Korea is the real bell-weather.
I’m looking especially at the Seoul area, as that goes, I believe is how this will go around the globe.
