One day youre feeling fine, the next, your nose is running, youre sneezing and your throat feels like youve swallowed broken glass.
Welcome to the annual cold season. Most of us will get between one and three colds each year, usually in autumn and winter, caused by one of more than 200 different cold viruses.
And there is little you can do about it a cure for the common cold remains one of the Holy Grails of medicine but better understanding of how these viruses spread could be the key.
What we do know for sure is that the first 24 hours are crucial; this is when the infection takes hold and starts to multiply, causing symptoms.
Here, with the help of three leading experts Professor John Oxford, a virologist at Queen Mary University of London, Professor Ron Eccles, director of the Common Cold Centre at Cardiff University and Professor Peter Openshaw, a professor of experimental medicine at Imperial College London we explain what is going on during the first 24 hours of your cold and what you can do to reduce the severity of your symptoms.

Yep, I have had a very good result when taking 1500 milligrams of Vitamin C every hour for 3 hours.
My solution a couch, a book, a dog, ice & a bottle of bourbon.
Manuka Honey is big business...and lot of lawsuits over the Maori word for the bush..including lawsuits with Australia.
And internal strife

But the honey is a NOT NEW thing
Honey, you guys need to take enough vitamin d3 to get your blood levels up over 70. To get that sick so fast from a virus means you are deficient in D3. I get it with the little kids who bring home everything. Its tough. But you guys can prepare.
Start with the highest vitamin d capsules you can find. There are 10,000 IU. Id start those today. After a couple weeks, you can go down to 5,000 IU a day for the rest of the season.
Get a neilmed nose irrigation bottle from any pharmacy and use it every morning, takes a few seconds. Feel free to add a couple drops of apple cider vinegar to the bottle along with the salts packet. It works when youve been exposed.
Have your baby girl take vitamin d gummies - 2000 IU a day during this season.
Sorry you got so sick.
I started doing this in the winter last year after I had been out in the unwashed masses..don’t remember why..maybe from a post from you..lolol...but I use manuka honey.
Don’t know if it helps but it tastes good.
If you don’t blow your nose it doesn’t run. That’s my point. You blow your nose it runs. If you take a decongestant and don’t blow your nose it doesn’t run at all.
But you’re right, I’m just a doctor, and we don’t know shyte when it comes to stuff like this.
It’s been my go to since I got sick in some godforsaken little irish town. They had one pub.
It’s a homeopathic remedy made by Boiron:
The sun must be over the yardarm somewhere in the world...
Doesn’t colloidal silver cause people to turn blue?
Dont consume silver unless you want to look like a smurf.
Gargling with vinegar works real good for a sore throat... ..... I tried gargling years ago, I used Jack Daniels, did it work? After about 5 gargles, I didn’t care. You don’t have to spit it out like vinegar.
This would work like an antibiotic. I would suggest replacing good bacteria's after you do this.
bkmk
a big glass of OJ and a long hot bath
and chicken soup

Oscillococcinum works for a lot of people but not for me. I have a whole box of homeopathic remedies, which usually work for me if I take the right one.
I take 1000 mg of C every day of my life, rarely get a cold. I added 50 mg zinc recently, because my thumb nails were getting weird striations, which indicate low zinc in the body. Apparently zinc adds another layer of protection from colds.
Three years ago, I had a cold and it went straight to my chest. Took Mucinex and Chlor-trimeton. My good friend who had recently retired as a pharmacist brought a whole box of stuff over...more exotic remedies...but decided I was doing fine with the simple things I was taking. Lasted three weeks. Hasn’t come back.
Yes on the ColdEze. I find the cherry dissolvables really work well.
I've lived in San Antonio all my life. Seasonal allegies are a given. Then my wife and I moved to the Hill Country. Cedar Everywhere! We were sick more often and for 4-5 days. Not 2-3.
Doctor recommended Flonase for daily use. One shot each nostril before bed each night.
That has drastically reduced our Cedar Fever problems. Hardly ever sick. And if we are - it is less severe.
God bless you and yours for adopting your 2 yr. old granddaughter....in your 70’s no less! She’ll likely will have a good life growing up on the farm and with loving grandparents.
