Millennials' health plummets after the age of 27: Study finds the generation has unprecedented…[tr]

It’s all downhill from 27, new research reveals.

At least if you’re a millennial, chronic conditions and diseases start to rear their heads in your late-20s, and from there things continue to deteriorate, according to a new Blue Cross/Blue Shield report.

Millennials as a generation are in overall poorer health than their predecessors, Gen X-ers, with higher rates of depression, hyperactivity, substance misuse, type 2 diabetes and Crohn’s disease, among other chronic conditions.

The report authors warn that the healthcare community needs to be aware that millennials are facing growing and perhaps unprecedented health concerns that could cost them years of life and cost the US economy money and productivity. […]

When the researchers narrowed their focus to older millennials, ages 34-36, they found higher rates of nearly all of the top 10 most common conditions than were seen in generation X at the same ages — despite the fact that 83 percent of millennials think they are in “good” or “excellent” health. …

Yeah. And drink gallons of Red Bull, eat garbage and as you point out sit all day, you’ll generally be unhealthy.

[I “feel” like I’m 50 and if it wasn’t for a prosthetic leg]

Did you get to personally inspect miles and miles of paddy fields and tropical jungle in an exotic foreign land back in the 60’s?

Plan B only, because it’s free, not optional and worthless.

Say what? WE were raised in the days of DDT, Dioxins, PCBs, leaded gasoline, leaded paint, and we are still doing well at 72!

It's way worse now (glyphosate, flouride, gmo, etc). But to your point, the cancer epidemic of Boomers might easily be explained by what you've said.

Fortunately, my 22 old son is quite health conscious. Works out, eats healthy, avoids Fast food, etc.. and is not pleased with my lifestyle since cancer. Pain and fatigue creates a vicious circle.

The typical American diet as it exists today is atrocious. You are correct in that most parents today do not do home cooking in any significant way and when I say "home cooking", I'm not talking about "heat and serve" processed foods from the frozen food sections. That is junk food too.

As you state, nobody listens though. Nobody wants to listen because that would mean getting off the living couch and then spending an hour or two in the kitchen making something healthy.

It's easier to just "heat and serve."

In my last response to you I included an “etc” in my comment. I should have mentioned in that “etc” the poisons folks continually put on their skin in one way or another. Makeup, hair products, lotions, perfumes and sunscreens to name a few. They are all poison. People generally do not understand that if it goes on you it goes in you. Ask yourself when looking at the ingredients - “would I eat that?”

Further if you look around there are many things in place that block UV from sunlight - car windows, house windows, glasses, clothing, and the aforementioned sunscreens. There has to be a long term detriment to blocking the sun.

Environmental toxins and total EMF immersion from birth have noting to do with it I’m sure.

Nor 63 required immunizations.

Cable plus the internet has done major damage to our kids.

Yup. I used to have to physically eject one of mine from glowing screens.

Fortunately I have detected an encouraging trend lately where I have started to see children actually playing outdoors again. For the longest time that had been disturbingly absent.

Vaccines and pharmaceuticals for everything leads to lousy immune systems. Pain killers instead of learning to gut it out. Mind altering meds plus unable to distinguish fantasy from reality (too much technology, too young). Next to no free play to actually enjoy doing things that involve physical activity. Brought up on crummy school-provided breakfasts and lunches. Except for a food-conscientious minority, mostly not into nutritional eating. Schedules so full from about six months old (no exaggeration) that they don't develop natural biorhythms or know how to unwind.

What could go wrong?

Funny they picked that age, 27, year after they no longer qualify for their parent insurance plans. It’s as if the researchers want to extend cocerage...

Sure, the schools taught them about health practices. They taught them all how to put condoms on cucumbers, didn’t they?
