I agree and said as much myself. I said if he can pull off helping a depressed liberal city pull itself out of its hole, it would begin a revolution that could save this nation.

I hope he has something brilliant he can bring to bear on these cities, because the people there have completely given up. How do you help a completely defeated people. I just don’t know. I hope he does.

While I understand the arguments against, this is an issue of compassion and grace and mercy.

This would shut up a lot of critics and go a long way towards locking up Michigan for the next election.

Get it done ahead of schedule and under budget. This is a one time infrastructure project and would be a perfect showcase for what Trump is really all about.

This is not the situation to be vindictive.

Is Flint a sanctuary city?

No federal funds. Period.

The democrats of Flint can clean up their own mess. They don’t need my tax money.

I’m focusing on the very biggest picture which was his promise to deport a bunch of illegal criminals.

We need a symbol? Kay:

more of the world’s eyes would be on him if he could fulfill that first promise repeated a hundred times or more.

Letting Michigan fix Flint would be symbolic of a return to state's rights...

Working in partnership with Flint and setting a template for getting it done correctly would make sense. Think about it. If Trump could have some of the Army Corps of Engineers become specialists in water system recovery projects, the jobs (1) could be done correctly and on budget/on time and (2) there would be uniformity to getting the job done right.

---correct--undertaking to "fix " one city will result in hundreds more wanting their "fix" and resentment if they don't get individual attention also-

-a national policy should encourage self-help , without some additional "federal" fix , which always translates into more wasted dollars----

Make the military fix Flint’s water?

While we’re at it could we have them police the streets, run the factories, teach in the schools, collect garbage, nurse the sick, feed the poor, pick the lettuce...

Letting Michigan fix Flint would be symbolic of a return to state’s rights and responsibilities.

Fine. How about a block grant tied to some very specific deliverables for re-building their water system. Flint can manage it, but they have to be held accountable.

Make the military fix Flint's water?

That is not what a suggested. I suggested have the Army Corps of Engineers produce a plan and guidance so it would be on time/budget and provide a template for how to repair aging water systems. Aren't they already doing that for Iraq and Afghanistan?

I see your thinking, but you need to think like a repetitive doubting thomas to come close to the minds of many defeated people groups in this country, or liberals.

You do some thing good for one city they will say “why them, why not mine?”

And for those in the city that gets helped, they likely will soon forget and just be pushing for the next help/hand out.

they need to change their thinking/perspective and that only happens by God and by facing their wrong thinking (usually real bad problem(s) and having to work their own way out of it)

Any thing else will just be a short lived “change” of heart.

Like ANY major U.S. city, have to clean-out dem. corruption first, otherwise money will squandered/wasted/stolen. TRUE open-bid contracts, not contracts for cronies(either party), workmanship guarantees, non-partisan oversight(can we really trust the DEQ?).

Bottom-line though(for ALL these projects) unless there is a realistic plan for revitalization....is it worth it?

Roadways, waterways, airports...infrastructure for the masses...yes, a necessity, and long overdue(mostly due to waste/fraud/ignorance elsewhere)...but it has to be budgeted properly(you want/need this?...sorry, no more that)and with materials Made-In-America, by Americans, for Americans...not globalist puppet-masters and their serfs.

A case for helping Flint...you help your friends and punish your enemies. Flint may or may not have voted for Trump (I have no idea), but Michigan as a whole flipped to Trump.

Michigan barely flipped to trump as a state Flint is still Flint and likely will never change. Genesee County has UAWGIMMYDAT in it’s DNA.

Here are the latest results.

A lot of ways to get that plumbing replaced that don’t involve screwing federal taxpayers.

I work in Flint. There is a lot of potential there. It is becoming a college town (U of M; Kettering University; MSU medical school). Many of the crime-ridden areas are depopulating—they have gone from 4 public high schools to 1 in the past 20 years. Surrounding area is nice, too. Trump could score easy points there.

Detroit would be a good city to experiment with urban restoration. Make it a Federal tax-exempt enterprise zone for 10 to 20 years. Also make it exempt from many federal regulations.

The problem with the above is the utterly corrupt Detroit city council. The above would only work if the city is manged by a bankruptcy board of trustees.

Also, for all non-criminal residents, give them firearms and train them in their use and permit concealed carry.
