I work in Flint. There is a lot of potential there. It is becoming a college town (U of M; Kettering University; MSU medical school). Many of the crime-ridden areas are depopulating—they have gone from 4 public high schools to 1 in the past 20 years. Surrounding area is nice, too. Trump could score easy points there.

Trump could develop a high-profile template for his inner-city renewal plans by rolling it out in Flint.

I am so surprised at many of the myopic posts on this thread that indicate a low level of understanding on this strategic opportunity

The tantalizing aspect is that he could actually draw Moore, Sanders et al in as allies on this as he build consensus across the nation.

It would be great to see Flint turn around. I saw it drop. High employment to welfare land, beautiful older neighborhoods to burnt out wastelands, big factory complexes to dirt, once thriving businesses to boarded up storefronts. I remember the Buick complex (massive), Fisher Body I, AC Delco and Autoworld (all history now).

But who’s job is a recovery? A president? A governor? A county exec? A mayor? The citizens? What blend?
