The Income Tax: Root of all Evil by Frank Chodorov
Foreword
THIS WAS, to be sure, "the home of the free and the land of the brave." Americans were free simply because the government was too weak to intervene in the private affairs of the people it did not have the money to do so and they were brave because a free people is always venturesome. The obligation of freedom is a willingness to stand on your own feet.
The early American wanted it that way. He was wary of government, especially one that was out of his reach. He had just rid himself of far away and self sufficient political establishment and he was not going to tolerate anything like it in his newly founded country. He recognized the need of some sort of government, to keep order, to protect him in the exercise of his rights, and to look after his interests in foreign lands. But, he wanted it understood that the powers of that government would be clearly defined and be limited; it could not go beyond specified limits. It was in recognition of this fear of centralized power that the Founding Fathers put into the Constitution it never would have been ratified without them very specific restraints on the federal government.
In other matters, the early American was willing to put his faith in home government, in a government of neighbors, in a government that one could keep ones eyes on and, if necessary, lay ones hands on. . . .
The Constitution, then, kept the federal government off balance and weak. And a weak government is the corollary of a strong people.
The Sixteenth Amendment changed all that. . . .

Governor of Utah

Since I only pay the required annual business ‘excise’ taxes and no personal taxes, well, I guess that would make me neither. I am a tried and true Constitutional loving patriot who took my Constitution back and win every time I apply the tax laws as they are written!!!
They have to have evidence first and where there is no evidence, there can be no pursuit now can there? When one knows exactly what these “federal internal” information forms(w-4/w-2, w-9/1099, etc.) are and then only uses them as the law requires, one is actually obeying the law. I love obeying the law because I love keeping our wealth in our bank account being able to use it as God intended it to be used.
What do tariffs have to do with income “excise” taxes? You are comparing apples and oranges. Income “excise” taxes are specifically tied to Government property and nothing else.
And if the letter of the tax laws are followed, neither takes place as the income ‘excise’ tax is a voluntary tax based upon one voluntarily engaging in the kind of privileged activity as defined by the law.
And how do you conclude this to be the case when the fair tax is nothing but a direct tax that is not based upon a Congressional budget, it is not based upon any census, it applies to every person, working or not working, and the bill is sent to the individual and not the states as the Constitution requires all direct taxes to be billed. Talk about tax illiterate!!!
I am tired of reading your BS!
You may think you have gamed the system in your favor, but I think you are just kidding yourself and lying to us while trying to hijack this thread.
What is your solution to the vexing problems the internal revenue code and the IRS create for America and Americans?
Criminals, socialists, totalitarians are the root of all evil. DEFUND/DISMANTLE their collectives, foreign and domestic. DEPOPULATE them from the body politic. DEPOPULATE them from the planet as necessary to
live - free - republic
The problem is not the IRS, the problem is the TAX ILLITERATE ELECTORATE who doesn't have a clue as to what an income “excise” tax is, what it applies to and how it is reported & collected. The illiterate electorate who uses internal government forms that are only meant to be used for privileged activities that are taxable.
If I go and sell my extra eggs to my neighbor, that is unprivileged activity because the government does not own my chickens, therefore, they do not own the eggs. On the other hand, when we used to haul frozen turkeys out of Minnesota to the navy bases in Washington state & Oregon so the government could then ship them to their military bases overseas, we were engaged in privileged activity as we were hauling government property. Since we quit hauling government property, now everything we haul is 100% private, therefore we are only engaged in the kind of unprivileged activity that is not subject to the income “excise” tax.
And that is why the code states that the income “excise” tax is voluntary. We can choose to participate in taxable activities or we can choose not too, the choice is ours. We pay our fair share of taxes to the IRS every year. In fact, we even have to register our business with the IRS every year, however, unless we return to engaging in privileged activity such as once again hauling government property, our revenue is not subject to any federal “excise” tax.
Do you understand what an “excise” tax is? I am venturing to guess you have not clue. You think the income tax is a A1,S9 direct tax. Well sir, IT IS NOT.
And so the ONLY solution is for Americans is for them to wake up, turn off the boob tubes, spend less frivolous time on the internet and do their homework so to be an educated and informed voter, but more importantly, return to being the master of the wealth that God has given them.
Yet, I do not have much faith much will change in that sense as we now live in the age the founding fathers warned us about, where people fear the government instead of the government fearing the people. I am hear to say there is nothing to fear but your own tax illiteracy. I have posted enough ground work that should give anyone reading the boost they need to go out and learn the truth for themselves what Friedman said, that to get back what was erroneously withheld, one must file the proper forms to do so. The code tells us how to do it. If you are too lazy to learn from the code how to get back that which was erroneously withheld from your unprivileged earnings (remuneration), then I can only come to one conclusion, freedom means nothing to you since you are not willing to take the actions needed to take it back.
SHALOM!!!
You are off your meds again, aren’t you?
On the contrary, we are loving the freedom that comes by knowing the laws, so to apply the laws as they were intended to be applied, both God's laws and man's laws, therefore, we do not participate in pharmakeia either since God calls it witchcraft & sorcery. But we do thank you for your concern.
There are no "problems" with tariffs. The promote domestic industry. Are you against that?
Fair Tax includes a rebate based on income, making it effectively an income tax.
Yes there are big problems with tariffs. What they promote are weak domestic industries. And yes, I'm against that.
Stupid comment. They promote non existent industries when factories are repatriated.
What they do is allow inefficient industries to live on when they should either be streamlining or going out of business.
No that’s not right SeeSharp.
The rebate is not based on income, it’s based on necessity level spending. That is, this nrst has the characteristic that sustenance spending should not be taxed. So my family of four spends $1460 per month on necessities so I would get a $460 monthly rebate.
So you’re wrong, the rebate is not based on income. A lot of people don’t yet fully understand the nature of a consumption tax...we’ve been under income tax our entire lives and it can be hard to imagine anything else.
Read the legislation!
The rebate is based on family size, irrespective of income!
When you know what you are talking about, you will be welcome to the thread!
The problem is that America doesn’t get a fair shake in respect o f international trade when tariffs and taxes are taken into account.
“FRee” trade and “fair” trade are not equivalent.
Great answer, Principled!
>>Nothing except the most fundamental principle of republican government: that no legislature can bind its successors.
I don’t know why, and it’s sad, but that made me chuckle briefly...
True. But then the other rules of taxes would need take effect, and the People would be adverse to lay those chains upon themselves again (I’d hope)
