Yahoo ran an interesting article this morning indicating a rise in the number of survivalist communities cropping up around the country. I have been wondering myself how much of the recent energy crisis is causing people to do things like stockpile food and water, grow their own vegetables, etc. Could it be that there are many people out there stockpiling and their increased buying has caused food prices to increase? Its an interesting theory, but I believe increased food prices have more to do with rising fuel prices as cost-to-market costs have increased and grocers are simply passing those increases along to the consumer. A recent stroll through the camping section of Wal-Mart did give me pause - what kinds of things are prudent to have on hand in the event of a worldwide shortage of food and/or fuel? Survivalist in Training
Ive been interested in survival stories since I was a kid, which is funny considering I grew up in a city. Maybe thats why the idea of living off the land appealed to me. My grandfather and I frequently took camping trips along the Blue Ridge Parkway and around the Smoky Mountains. Looking back, some of the best times we had were when we stayed at campgrounds without electricity hookups, because it forced us to use what we had to get by. My grandfather was well-prepared with a camp stove and lanterns (which ran off propane), and when the sun went to bed we usually did along with it. We played cards for entertainment, and in the absence of televisions, games, etc. we shared many great conversations. Survivalist in the Neighborhood

Exactly right Granny. I was sorry to post this here. It does look like it will be put off until later which likely means this particular bill is dead.
I am still sick that Terri was killed for no good reason. They hated her being alive and loved the idea of her dying.
{{hugs}} to you Granny from someone who loves you (me).<<<
Very willing to return your love and hugs.
All the killers in Terri’s death were linked to the Evergreen genocide group, that traces back to hitler.
The day will come when they are old and ill.........and very alone, once the power is gone.
One of the things he fed us the first week was rattlesnake, not breaded and fried, but roasted on a skewer. Actually, it was pretty good.<<<
Mary said it was rich, a cross between tuna and chicken.
If I get hungry enough, I am sure that even grubs will taste good.
More helpful info from same book...
WEIGHTS AND MEASURES.<<<
Hard to believe that once I could remember all those measures.
Now they talk about weighing on fancy electronic scales.
Fine, if you have electric and can still see the numbers.

No, that is not a grill, that basket, with wheels is a lovely garden cart, or even better, a laundry cart, I would love it for when I hang clothes on the clothes lines.
For a grill, use the shelf of an oven.
I have for years, anytime I find an old stove, I take the shelves out of the oven.
On baking day, they can be set up for cooling racks, 4 cans, cups, glasses etc will give you instant legs.
Behind the seat in my pickup, I have an oven rack, it is an instant bbq grill, if I can find 4 rocks or dirt for 2 sides and I can almost instantly have it as high as needed, for pan or on the grill cooking.
Someone stole the special one that a friend made for me, he put sides on the ends, about 8 inches high, so it was ready to set over twigs and small branches and no rocks needed.
LOL, my way of doing it............
I still have a couple, tucked between the refrig and the wall and have been known to use the heavy grape stake wire, to make them into hanging shelves in the greenhouses.
I have not heard of the Evergreen genocide group. I will look that up but I’m sure I’ll find a bunch of creepy stuff. Thanks for filling in the gap for me.
hey, when did you drop by and take a pic of my grill.. /s
I have plenty of r/neck improvisations to share ..
here is a recipe site I found as I sort through a ton of bookmarks.. it's not the one I was looking for but it has some merits.

I took a quick look the other night and did not see much, needed more keywords than I was using.
If you can find the old Terri threads here, Calpernia dug up some stuff that makes you sick to know.
She is the best researcher that I know.
Thanks for the good site for recipes.......
LOL, I just moved it to the new thread.
Looks good Granny! We need to place 7 more posts here to top it off!

Your post about wicked weiners reminded of the “Redneck Calamari Dinner”, which is pictured at the link below:
