Yahoo ran an interesting article this morning indicating a rise in the number of survivalist communities cropping up around the country. I have been wondering myself how much of the recent energy crisis is causing people to do things like stockpile food and water, grow their own vegetables, etc. Could it be that there are many people out there stockpiling and their increased buying has caused food prices to increase? It’s an interesting theory, but I believe increased food prices have more to do with rising fuel prices as cost-to-market costs have increased and grocers are simply passing those increases along to the consumer. A recent stroll through the camping section of Wal-Mart did give me pause - what kinds of things are prudent to have on hand in the event of a worldwide shortage of food and/or fuel? I’ve been interested in survival stories since I was a kid, which is funny considering I grew up in a city. Maybe that’s why the idea of living off the land appealed to me. My grandfather and I frequently took camping trips along the Blue Ridge Parkway and around the Smoky Mountains. Looking back, some of the best times we had were when we stayed at campgrounds without electricity hookups, because it forced us to use what we had to get by. My grandfather was well-prepared with a camp stove and lanterns (which ran off propane), and when the sun went to bed we usually did along with it. We played cards for entertainment, and in the absence of televisions, games, etc. we shared many great conversations. Survivalist in the Neighborhood

Well, I have nothing else to use the oxygen absorbers for right now. Or in the next 6 months. I have about 2 years worth of grains and legumes and other stuff already in superpails with mylar and oxygen absorbers or in cans with ‘em as well. My ‘pile’ of stuff is growing outside of the quarter of a bedroom that I vowed I would keep it to. ;) So I better stop where I am on that. When it starts spilling out into the hallway, I’ll be banished from the house most likely.

I do have a strange brain, though. I have this odd ability to hear the voice of someone I've listened to when reading soemthing they've written. So many voices, so few hours in the day. ;^)
Cooking is one of my current hobbies. I'm experimenting with a special creation of mine for icebox pies, using Instant puddings and flavored yogurts instead of milk ... makes a much thicker pudding, pie standards thick even. I'm making a Rasberry one tonight, to eat in two days (best flavoring after a day in the fridge beacuse the twang of the yogurt is gone by then).
I would cut a piece of one of these pies for Nigella, if I had the chance of course.
Actually, her nose is a rather odd feature of her face. She has a similar nose to an actress in Hollywood, with a long rather starigth nose, with a slight bump in the middle and squared on the tip. ... I don’t get sidetracked that easily.

Russia has started using it again in the past couple years, they had one of the Anna P. type reporters in one for awhile, I was following her, via Struwwelpeter and saw photos of her before and after, it was bad.

That is the worst of it, I live 10 miles from town and in the middle of 3 acres, all lots are one acre or larger in this area.
And I wind up with California convicts, generations of them, across the street, and up the street, as there is an old mobile home park up there that allows them in.
I offered to shoot the one, that opened my door and got half his body in, as he came up the steps and I started screaming.
He said “Oh, I thought noone was here”.
After I locked the door, I told him through the window that I would shoot him and he couldn’t understand me, so I told him 3 times, guess he got the message, for him I never saw again.
Because I cannot go outdoors, they think the place is abandoned and steal me blind.
