I like cheese! Do you like cheese?

Inspired by a conversation with my best friend I wish to talk about cheese. Yummy, yummy cheese (for those of us not lactose intolerant)! What are your favorite cheeses? What is your favorite recipe with cheese. This thread is all cheese, all the time.

I think they went out of business some time in the 1960s. It was too bad, because it was the "grapey-est" grape flavor of any grape drink before or since then.

It was like grape Kool-Aid made with half the water or less. I think we liked it in the South because it was like getting communion in church, but you got to drink more than a tiny little thimbleful.

I agree with your assessment of Feta cheese. I work with a guy that’s a Goat Farmer. If I’m close enough to him to smell goat, I’m TOO close, LOL!

I hate goats, and I don’t care who knows it. Granted, they are a useful animal in many ways (as are laying hens, which I raise and which also stink if you don’t clean out the hen house often enough) but spending my “yute” as an indentured servant on my Aunt’s farm put me off of goats for-ever. Blech! Evil, stinky creatures.

I like provolone, swiss, the kind with the red stuff on the rim is probably my favorite.

I like American and Swiss on a cheese burger.

Wait! I found the real recipe online! I can’t believe it. I always thought my friend who first made these had made up the recipe herself, lol. No eggs - but I forgot the Worcestershire, which I *never* do in real life.

And the stacks are three slices tall, which I avoided saying because it might sound complicated. I remember I had modified these to make them lower calorie (ha!) when I was on Weight Watchers years and years ago. I made those with just two slices and with beaten egg whites to stretch the cheeseyness, which is what I was thinking of.

Also, I found it easier to heat the butter and cheese to blend them, but this recipe doesn’t say to do that. Note also that the comments “came with” the recipe, they’re not mine, lol.

Haven’t made these in years, but now I’m dying for some!

Baked Cheese Petit Fours

2 jars Old English sharp cheese spread
1 cup (2 sticks) butter softened
1 tbsp Tabasco sauce
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp dill weed
1/2 tsp onion salt
2 loaves sliced white bread, crusts trimmed

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat cheese spread and butter together in a mixing bowl until smooth. Add Tabasco, Worcestershire, dill, and onion salt and beat until smooth.

Spread a thin layer of cheese filling on 3 slices of the bread. Stack the slices on top of each other. Cut the stack into 4 quarters. Spread the cheese filling over the sides of each quarter. Repeat the procedure with the remaining filling and bread.

Freeze the squares on a baking sheet for 1 hour. Drink while waiting. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Drink while baking. Serve hot. Soooo good when drunk.

unfortunately no. one of my friends found a guy that makes homemade seasonings and one of them is this chipotle rub/ seasoning that is out of this world. that mixed with some worchestershire suace makes an awesome burger.
the only problem is that seasoning is hard to get. the guy who makes them lives about 2 hours away from me and i don’t think he has a web site.

It’s good to know that someone else shares my loathe of Feta. And since I come from a farm community, I’m familiar enough with goats to know that if I never see one again, it will be too soon. LOL!

Give me some good ol’ WiSCANsin cheddar, and I’ll be a happy little person!!!

(When I was working, one of my co-workers was from Wisconsin, and every time she went to visit, she came back to work with a 12” wheel of cheese for those of us deprived of such yummy stuff.)
