I wouldn't have the patience for that.

I think once you get interested in something the patience comes with the love of the creativity.

I have klutz hands.
I'd be lucky to get anything resembling a folded piece of paper let alone a recognizable shape..

Good afternoon, DD. Thank you from our team.

Happy Monday. Stay dry.

The VietNam moving wall is going to be in Fresno this week.
I have some obligations but I'm hoping that I can get by to visit.

 THE PACT

I've seen fairy rings
In dark glades
And shadows dancing
In the hollow trees
Close to where
The Great Blue Heron wades
And something runs
From angry bees
I've seen groves
Of orchards bloom
Outlined by the
Quiet country stream
And blossoms shamed
The best perfume
As if to trap me
In this dream
A wilderness of
Legend, myth and lore
I've made a pact
With nature and my God
With nature, walk thy beauty
Naked and unshod
With God, all of this
And so much more.

Happy Monday to you, Meekie.

So far, no rain but we have some dark clouds all around us. It is another perfect day for thunderstorms. I hope we don't get another drenching. :(

WOW .... that is beautiful Fish Hawk. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

I'm kinda slow getting pings answered this morning.

I liked your other poem too, but "The Pact" is my favorite. You have painted a beautiful picture.

Thank you again.

"The VietNam moving wall is going to be in Fresno this week. I have some obligations but I'm hoping that I can get by to visit."

I still find it very sobering to reflect upon the fact that my name is on that wall. My whole name, just like on my driver's licence.

Yep, it's there. It isn't me, of course, but you talk about your "There but for the Grace of God go I" moments, I still get them when I think about it.

More Letters For The Wall

My cousin’s name is on the wall,
His smile is in my heart.
They took a lot of him away,
I kept the nicest part.

He served under our colors,
His color turned out red.
I’m sure he hardly felt the pain,
Of striping that he bled.

He heard the call of duty,
And stood to take the call.
And now he stands remembered,
In letters on the wall.

He had a lot to give us,
We’ll never know it now.
For all he had was given,
In keeping up his vow.

Some say it was a useless waste,
No need to cross the foam.
War’s desolation has a price,
To keep it far from home.

He knew the odds against him,
He took it in his stride.
His name is there upon the wall,
His smile I keep inside.

That is a beautiful tribute, NnB. Thank you for sharing it.

Do you really have a cousin whose name is on the wall? As far as I know, there isn't a name there that I would recognize.

My little brother made it home. He was in Thailand but I'm sure there are names on the wall that he would recognize. I'll ask him if he would like to go whenever I go.

"Do you really have a cousin whose name is on the wall?"

Yes. Sadly, it is true. I think he was about twenty. My brother was very attached to him, being proud of the fact that they had a given name in common.

Like many of the era, he went when he was called, and did his duty without complaining.

I dare say, if he had it to do over again, he would only try to keep his head down more.

As mentioned above, my name is there too. But I'm not dead yet.
