The family problems are a mother who is probably suffering from diabetes induced dimentia. It's gonna take a while for things to settle down -- a long while.

For your food house maybe, but not to sit in. Look, there's even a cup holder for your beer, or whiskey, or whatever...

Liquorice allsorts at a health food store we would find Bassetts (the best IMHO) in the confectionery aisle at the supermarket or in a sweet shop.

On Beauty
by Michelangelo Buonarroti
Beauty was given at my birth to serve
As my vocation's faithful exemplar,
The light and mirror of two sister arts:
Who otherwise believes in judgement errs.
She alone lifts the eye up to that height
For which I strive, to sculpture and to paint.
O rash and blind the judgement that diverts
To sense the Beauty which in secret moves
And raises each sound intellect to Heaven!
No eye infirm the interval may pass
From mortal to divine, nor thither rise
Where without grace to ascend the thought is vain.
Mine eyes that are enamored of things fair
And this my soul that for salvation cries
May never heavenward rise
Unless the sight of beauty lifts them there.
Down from the loftiest star
A splendor falls on earth,
And draws desire afar
To that which gave it birth.
So love and heavenly fire and counsel wise
The noble heart finds most in starlike eyes.

Christina Rossetti (1830-1894)
When I am dead, my dearest
When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.
I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.

The Darkest Day
The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone. -Psalm 118:22
Bible In One Year: Psalm 7-9
|
To celebrate Passover, Jewish worshipers sing Psalms 113-118, a section called the "Egyptian Hallel." The ceremony builds to a crescendo of appreciation for freedom and the beauty of life given by God. It ends with participants singing and praising God both to please Him and to express their own pleasure. One rabbi explains it as experiencing the "emotional joy of freedom."
Near the end of the Passover meal, the second half of these Hallel psalms are sung. According to the gospel of Matthew, Jesus and His disciples sang a hymn and "went out to the Mount of Olives" after celebrating their last Passover together (26:30). They may well have sung this psalm:
The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone. This was the Lord's doing; It is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it (Psalm 118:22-24). |
Regardless of which hymn they sang, the confidence Jesus had in the goodness of His heavenly Father is astounding. He was able to praise His Father even though He knew He was about to experience His darkest day. -Julie Link
Even on the darkest days My heart sings in joyful praise, Not because God says I should But because I know He's good. -Link
Praise has the power to lighten our heaviest burden.

Ill Do It Myself!
Some things that you just have to do, you have to do yourself,
Like working on a ladder, or putting up a shelf.
Oh, you can try to find someone, but in the end youll see,
If someones gonna screw things up, it might as well be me!
Cause I can move a ladder, and I can climb on it,
And then I can go down again, for things that I forgit.
I used to do my painting, dipping brushes in a bucket,
After I tired of all the climbs, the next trip up I tuck it.
I took the paint can up with me, but then I couldnt put it down,
Thats why that corner of the carpet is a matching shade of brown.
And after all my troubles using hammers and those nails,
I figured out that screws will give support that never fails.
Thats why when I needed something put up good and tight,
I bought a box of screws so I could do it all just right.
So last night I held up the thing and grabbed the screws Id got....
Who is this guy Phillips? ...And what happened to the slot?
