Ohhhh...good thing I work 2 jobs to pay for taxes and huge car repairs (on a 4 yr. old car YET!)
I paid them a bunch of $ for a new intake manifold gasket and some anti-freeze. Car runs like it should be now.

I took my car to the transmission place to have them look at it Wed when I took the day off. My engine had started racing recently and the shifting has been better since the weather has warmed up. I would hardly do for the mechanic what it has been doing most of the winter so of course he couldn't diagnose it. He told me if I fixed the engine it may take care of the shifting problem. The engine was idling faster than it ever had that morning. It got up to 3,000 rpm once while he was shifting gears. It's been idling lately between 22 and 2,500 rpm. I took it to the dealership where they told me I needed an intake manifold gasket. It sounds like it should have sounded now. It's running smooth too, it had started to get rough. So I may not know about the shifting till it gets cold again.
Thank you for all your help.

You never told me about the rpms or sound. How am I supposed to help ; ) Glad it's acting better.
If the intake manifold gasket is leaking, it messes up the air to fuel ratio and drives the processor nuts trying to compensate for air it didn't ask for. These will cause racing or choking down. Both effect a lot of other things. Manifold leaks make a low roar to a high squeal depending on how bad they are. Did you let them replace the gasket?

Sorry, the high rpms weren't as bad when I was having the shifting troubles as they have been recently.
Yep, I had them replace the gasket and it sounds like it should, it had sounded like it had a miss. The idling rpms are 500 to 1,000. I bet my gas mileage improves greatly.
I bought some plug wires but have not put them in yet, guess I'll return them.
Thanks again!
