Is it real or is it art?

That is real I have a very similar photo of a field of red poppies. It only happens every few years that the poppies are so dense but when it does happen from a distance it looks just like a field of blood hence why the poppy was chosen from the first world war as the flower for remembrance Sunday because the fields in France looked exactly like this with the blood of the soldiers.

Here is a photo taken in France in 2001 of a field of poppies (can't find my photo at present and anyway my scanner is not connected) and this shows that the other picture is real that poppies do look like this when there is a field full.

What is a fizzy orange? Is it an orange soda?

Yes.

..... are you going to celebrate Bell Bottoms Day? ;-)

When is slit-jeans-at-the-feet-so-you-can-wear-boots-without-jeans-looking-baggy Day?

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this, but... I couldn't think of where else it might fit. It is worthy of a minute of your time.

Subject: Wear Red on Fridays

You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why .....

The Americans who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are.

Many Americans, like yourself, would like to start a grassroots movement using the membership of the Special Operations Association, and Special Forces Associations, and al! l their friends, simply, to recogize that Americans support our troops. We need to inform the local VFW's and American Legion, our local press, local TV, and continue carrying the message to the national levels as we start to get this going. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops are -starting Friday, and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red - blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University.

If everyone of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red!

Let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

I sent this out to everyone on my email list; hopefully, you will too.

Please forward this to everyone you know!!

Wear Red on Fridays ....

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS, WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE.
FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA

OVEN MADE CARMEL CORN

5 qt. popped corn
2 sticks butter
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Spread popped corn in a roaster. Put in oven 250 degrees to keep warm and crisp.

Combine butter, sugar, corn syrup, and salt in 2 quart heavy pan. Place over a medium heat stirring until sugar dissolves. Continue to boil to a firm boil. Remove from heat and stir in soda.

Put over pop corn. Mix well. Put in oven 45 to 50 minutes at 250 degrees. Stir every 15 minutes.

Very interesting commentary on poppies and the WWI. We have an old English travel poster promoting the Great Eastern Railway entitled "The Charm of Poppyland" that pictures fields of red poppies and a strand with beach huts beyond.

Many of the images of poppy fields I've recently discovered are quite beautiful. What's fascinating is that poppy landscapes appear to have been painted more often than photographed.

Good evening, Snugs. I'm finally getting back here.

Those are beautiful red poppies; California State Flower is the Golden Poppy. When I was a child you saw them growing along many country roads. With all of the agriculture here, they are now mostly seen in the foothills and some open fields.

Happy Carmel Popcorn Day!! :)
