I'm going to post and run, but I wanted to get this out there. You see, I have two daughters...

My Shadow Grown

You stand with me, my shadow grown.
With patience that is not my own.
Your quiet smile of knowing glance ...
Some feckless boy won’t stand a chance.

Could I start over, young and free,
I fear what might become of me,
But you are fearless, confident,
You’ve not your father’s malcontent.

You have your own sweet reverie,
That Life rewards one cleverly,
With hidden treasures one must find,
By opening up a growing mind.

You understand that patience brings,
Appreciation in small things.
The storm dumps down on joyless days.
You find the iridescent glaze.

A parking lot, whose oily sheen,
Takes many passes to wash clean,
You find the beauty. Inside you,
There is a sunny point of view.

There is bad weather for each life,
Each of us must handle strife.
The path I’ve followed will not show,
When your turn comes, which way to go.

When storms have come and they have passed,
That is the time for you at last,
As droplets wane and brightness grows,
To lift your head and find rainbows.

Thank you, Sibyl. There's something ironic, even eerie, about responding to my alter ego on a multiple personality question.

Keep The Organ Playing

Read:
1 Corinthians 12:20-26

Those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. -1 Corinthians 12:22

Bible In One Year: Deuteronomy 20-22

cover Many years ago an accomplished organist was giving a concert. (In those days someone had to pump large bellows backstage to provide air for the pipes.) After each song, the audience applauded heartily. Before his final number, the organist stood and said, "I shall now play . . ." and he announced the title. He sat down and adjusted his music. With feet poised over the pedals and hands over the keys, he began with a mighty chord. But the organ remained silent. Just then a voice was heard from backstage: "Say 'We'!"

In the Lord's work, there is plenty of room for personal achievement. Our abilities are God-given, and the Holy Spirit helps us to excel in what we do best. But a self-sufficient spirit that overlooks the contributions of others can ruin it all. No Christians have ever climbed the ladder of success alone. With them were mothers, fathers, friends, a husband, a wife, or children who prayed, sacrificed, and did what they could to help.

Aware of our deep indebtedness to others, we should be grateful for their vital role in the Lord's work in and through us. A note of sincere thanks, a word of honest recognition, or a thoughtful deed of love will help to "keep the organ playing." -Dennis De Haan

Two Christians working for the Lord
Should keep this goal in mind:
Give praise for what the other does-
To your success be blind. -Branon

It's amazing what can be accomplished when you don't care who gets the credit.

TEMPTATION:

Methinks that Tuliptree is a clever young thing.
An aspiring Dominatrix with a plush velvet swing.
To arrange a day of sensual bliss and misery.
Is a wicked twist that not all may see.

The lure is set with "Chocolate Cheesecake Day".
Mouths water as minds soar with richness gone astray.
As the filling melts so deiciously.

Nothing matters except the here and now.
While taste buds spasm and tremble in ecsatcy.
Freeing extra special lurid bedroom sounds.
Tripping the trap for the horrendous "Dentist's Day".

A vistit to the person no one wants to see.
With a comfortable adjustable chair.
And a large flourescent light bar above.
As Elevator Muzak wafts through the air.

Picks and probes and High Speed drills.
Sure to generate hot prickly chills.
That latex gloved hands do nothing to relieve.

Helpless while sweaty hackles tease your hair.
Beneath the person no one really loves.
To toy with a phrase most deftly.
'Tis Tuliptree's "Ecstacy And The Agony".

Jack.

Just A Closer Walk With Thee
Words & music by Stuart Hine

I am weak, but Thou art strong
Jesus, keep me from all Wrong
I'll be satisfied As long,
As I walk, let me walk Close to Thee.

Just a closer Walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, Hear my Plea,
Daily walking Close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, Let it be.

Through this world Of Toil and Sweat,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me My Burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, None but Thee.

Just a closer Walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, Hear my Plea,
Daily walking Close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, Let it be.

Now when my feeble Life is o'er,
Hard times for me Will be no more;
Just guide me gently, Safely o'er
To Thy Kingdom Shore, To Thy Shore.

Ah just a closer Walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, Hear my Plea,
Daily walking Close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, Let it be.

I like the sound of the "plush velvet swing"! Winston would surely get an eyeful with that around!

You might want to check with Mme. Face about all the latest accoutrements for aspiring dominatrices today, I understand she keeps a whip draped over her cuckoo clock.

HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Layered Cheesecake

Ingredients:
CHOCOLATE CRUMB CRUST (recipe follows)
3 packages (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
4 eggs
1/4 cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips, divided
1/2 teaspoon shortening (do not use butter, margarine, spreads or oil)

Directions:
1. Prepare CHOCOLATE CRUMB CRUST. Heat oven to 350 F.
2. Beat cream cheese and sugar in large bowl until smooth. Gradually beat in eggs, heavy cream, vanilla and salt, beating until well blended.
3. Set aside 2 tablespoons chocolate chips. Place remaining chips in large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at HIGH (100%) 1-1/2 minutes; stir. If necessary, microwave at HIGH an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, until chocolate is melted when stirred.
4. Gradually blend 1-1/2 cups cheesecake batter into melted chocolate. Remove 2 cups chocolate mixture; spread in bottom of prepared crust.
5. Blend additional 2 cups cheesecake batter into remaining chocolate mixture; spread 2 cups mixture over first layer in springform pan. Stir remaining cheesecake batter into remaining chocolate mixture; spread over second layer.
6. Bake 50 to 55 minutes or until center is almost set. Remove from oven to wire rack. With knife, immediately loosen cake from side of pan. Cool to room temperature.
7. Place reserved chocolate chips and shortening in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at HIGH 30 seconds; stir. If necessary, microwave at HIGH an additional 10 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, until chocolate is melted and smooth when stirred. Drizzle over top of cheesecake. Cover; refrigerate several hours until cold. Cover; refrigerate leftover cheesecake. 10 to 12 servings.

CHOCOLATE CRUMB CRUST: Stir together 1-1/2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs (about 45 wafers), 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 1/4 cup HERSHEY’S Cocoa; stir in 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) melted butter or margarine. Press mixture onto bottom and 1-1/2 inches up sides of 9-inch springform pan.

Happy Chocolate Cheesecake Day!
