TP: THREAT POTENTIALS [UNCONVENTIONAL, IMPROBABLE OR NOT]
USGS QUAKE EMAIL ^ | 21 JUN 2004 | Quix, USGS

Posted on 06/21/2004 4:31:10 PM PDT by Quix

GREETINGS,

FOLLOWING is a note re todays Alaskan quake. First a comment about this thread.

SOME FREEPERS are fascinated with fringe areas of reality. Some of us even think the fringe areas of knowledge, research, anecdotal stories and the like will have very impactful effects on the WAR ON TERROR, WWIII, Biblical end time events etc.

WE ALSO FIND FREEPERS FULL OF GREAT CREATIVITY OF THOUGHT, INSIGHT, WORK RELATED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS ETC. useful in collecting diverse puzzle pieces and in analyzing them. This diversity is priceless and virtually unavailable on any other site.

While we are seriously interested in topics which others scoff at, throw tinfoil hat assaults at and which we often even can't discuss calmly with many of our relatives and friends--we are either not all loonies or not 100% looney--though perhaps, hopefully, healthily insane in an insane society a la Eric Fromm.

Nevertheless, we do NOT enjoy nor appreciate hostile flame wars and the like just because we enjoy fringe puzzle pieces and analysis. Nor do we wish to cast the least bit of aspersions on FR.

I do not know how many of us will be willing to show up and post on this thread. Many are gunshy from all the flame attacks such topics typically trigger hereon. However, if my FREEPMAIL is any hint, there are plenty to be interested in such a thread.

HOWEVER, to whatever degree I may be graced with the ability to do so--this thread will NOT tolerate flame wars, flame posts, hostile jabs at other posters etc. I will do my utmost to get such posts pulled immediately.

The THREAT MATRIX thread has done mostly pretty well at creating and maintaining a lot of resourcefulness, creativity, camaraderie, mutual supportiveness and friendliness.

I hope and expect that this thread can even do better. Certainly I will do what I can to help make that happen.

If this thread flies and helps in any way analyze the WOT threats as well as natural disaster threats or any other plausible threats from 'reality' (whatever that is), then WONDERFUL. If it's just a good place to toss around the various puzzle pieces and their implications in a convoluted era and reality--that's worth some time, too.

If this thread dies and early death from disinterest, so be it.

If you have comments about the above, please post them! Hostile dereogatory posts will AT LEAST BE WHOLESALE IGNORED.

Below is some of the data on the recent quake and my comment on that.

-----------------------------------

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake IN SOUTHERN ALASKA has occurred at: 61.65N 151.25W Depth 81km Mon Jun 21 21:29:09 2004 UTC

Time: Universal Time (UTC) Mon Jun 21 21:29:09 2004 Time Near Epicenter Mon Jun 21 13:29:09 2004 Mountain Daylight Time (MDT) Mon Jun 21 15:29:09 2004

Location with respect to nearby cities: 85 km (55 miles) NW of Anchorage, Alaska (pop 260,000) 95 km (60 miles) SW of Talkeetna, Alaska (pop 700) 115 km (70 miles) W of Palmer, Alaska (pop 4,500) 1005 km (630 miles) WNW of JUNEAU, Alaska

I recall reading somewhere in the last month, a prediction that a very major devastating quake on the West Coast or the Pacific would occur shortly after a moderate quake in Alaska or just south of Alaska.

We shall see.

Personally, I'd vote for keeping Jihadi's out of quake shelters.

Israel will be 'wiped off earth' if it attacks Iran
July 28, 2004

Iran will wipe Israel "off the face of the earth" if it dared to attack the Islamic republic's nuclear facilities, a spokesman for Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards was quoted as saying.

"The United States is showing off by threatening to use its wild dog, Israel," the public relations head of the Revolutionary Guards, Commander Seyed Masood Jazayeri, was quoted as saying by the Iranian student news agency ISNA.

"They will not hesitate to strike Iran if they are capable of it. However, their threats to attack Iran's nuclear facilities cannot be realised.

"They are aware Tehran's reaction will be so harsh that Israel will be wiped off the face of the earth and US interests will be easily damaged," he warned.

George Orwell Meets the Matrix

by Maureen Farrell

"We appear to be edging towards an era of 'mind control' -- a time when human brains might be manipulated routinely by highly sophisticated technology." -- Nicholas Regush, ABC News, Sept 5, 2001

"I've spoken about this at academic conferences. I find that the first reaction people have is, maybe, disbelief. Police ban Jews from Temple Mount for Tisha B'Av

By Jonathan Lis and Yair Ettinger

Jerusalem police chief Major-General Ilan Franco banned Jewish visitors from the Temple Mount compound on Tisha B'Av yesterday, over fear of sparking violent clashes on the premises. Police turned back some 30 Jewish zealots who tried to enter.

The decision was made yesterday morning in the wake of recent warnings by Public Security Minister Tzachi Hanegbi, that the security establishment had identified rising intent among right-wing extremists to carry out a Temple Mount attack.

The Temple Mount Faithful movement, which wanted to hold a mourning ceremony on the site, had to settle for a symbolic gathering near the Mugrabi Gate at the entrance to the compound.

"This is a total retreat from our sovereignty over the Temple Mount," said the group's leader, Gershon Solomon. "It's another dishonor to the Jewish nation by a weak leadership that doesn't understand the significance of the hour."

About 15 right-wing activists demonstrated at noon in front of Hanegbi's house to protest the decision.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of Jews came to the Western Wall throughout the day to mark Tisha B'Av, the fast day commemorating the destruction of the two temples. At the same time, hundreds of Muslims - mostly Arab residents from the Triangle region and Galilee - came to pray at mosques on the Temple Mount. Their appearance was in response to an appeal by Sheikh Kamal Hatib, deputy leader of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement

Laying a stone for the third temple! Exciting.

Police Bar Jews From Entering Beit ul Moqaddas's Temple Mount

BEIT UL MOQADDAS (AFP) -- Israeli police barred Jews from entering the Temple Mount in Beit ul Moqaddas's Old City on Tuesday for fear of unrest during commemorations for the historic destruction of the first and second Jewish Temples.

The Temple Mount Faithful, an extreme right-wing group, had asked permission to enter the site, known as the Haram al-Sharif (Noble Sanctuary) by Muslims, to lay a symbolic foundation stone for a Third Temple.

The Temple Mount is the presumed site of both temples but is also sacred to Muslims.

Jews around the world were marking Tuesday the festival of Tisha B'Av which recalls the destruction of the Temple of Solomon (the first temple) and the Temple of Herod (the second temple) by the Babylonians and the Romans in 537 BC and 70 AD respectively.

Large numbers of police reinforcements were deployed around the Western Wall, also called Wailing Wall, which lies at the foot of the Temple Mount and is regarded as the last remains of the second temple.

The Temple Mount Faithful want to build a new temple on the site of the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque which is the third holiest site in Islam.

The looming Temple Mount catastrophe

By Meron Benvenisti
Another Tisha B'Av passed peacefully, said the reporters, with "tense routine" on the Temple Mount. The security forces sat in the shade and watched a tired demonstration by the Temple Mount Faithful, who lugged a model of the Temple and recreated their journey with the enormous "cornerstone" during which, in the past, (Palestinian) lives were lost. But now it has lost its ability to provoke. If not for the the public security minister issuing apocalyptic warnings about the dangers to the mosque on the Mount, nobody would have paid much attention, for the 37th time, to the ticking bomb called the Temple Mount.

Indeed, the minister received credible intelligence reports - he knew that the trouble would not break out on the day it seemingly should break out, so he chose to go all the way to Finland and enjoy a football game. He left behind a police officer who would keep Jews off the Mount, "for the sake of public safety." Why should Hanegbi stick around to suffer the slings and arrows of the "nationalist circles" about his abandoning "the sacred site of the nation?"

The usual suspects - Yehuda Etzion, Kachniks, and the other Temple Mount zealots and crazies - spouted their usual slogans about getting rid of the mosques, while Shin Bet agents kept their eyes open and the newspapers filled up once again with articles about sinister plots and Armageddon.

Veterans of the Temple Mount controversy know very well that the danger of blowing up the mosques - and the threats of a nuclear world war in its wake - are repeated and recycled whenever the possibility, real or otherwise, comes up for some political move that might change the status quo in the occupied territories. The disengagement plan and the evacuation of the settlements is an excellent excuse to float plots and conspiracies, just like in the days of the Yamit evacuation and the Oslo accords.

It all looks routine, too routine - but for some reason, this time the threat looks serious. So serious that it raises doubts about whether the current Israeli government and the security services under the government's command are capable of dealing with this tangible threat.

Seemingly, the forces combating Jewish terrorism and the conspirators planning to blow up the mosques have acquired a lot of experience breaking up the conspiracies. But the experience of recent months shows that the law enforcement agencies are not capable of winning court convictions that deter, and the daring demonstrated by the lawbreakers and outright criminal outlaws among the "hilltop youth" and their ilk is ever more audacious. The general atmosphere of violence saturated with incitement encourages ever more violent expressions, which threaten the status quo on the Temple Mount.

Among the hundreds, indeed perhaps the thousands, who participate in the symposia and conferences that deal with the practical preparations for the establishment of a Third Temple, there are those who make no attempt to hide their plans to "remove the abomination." Ministers and senior officials - known to dine on non-kosher shellfish - demonstratively demand the right of every Jew to pray on the Mount and condemn the weak hand of their government, "which allows the PLO to rule the Temple Mount."

Those very same people are the ones who are warning against the actions of those who take their own incitement seriously. The chorus of inciters "against the Waqf" is joined by archaeologists, who loudly protest the activities of the Muslims, "meant to erase any evidence of the existence of the sanctuary," and thus encourage, without meaning to, of course, those who plot to erase any Muslim connection to the place.

It seems the only obstacle to catastrophe is the sweeping ban by the rabbinical establishment over praying on the Mount, a prohibition that is being undermined; and the day is not far off when it will collapse, "at least regarding that part of the Mount that was outside the Temple."

A violent action, like the one that managed to torpedo the Oslo agreement, serves as an example to those who believe that even a not fully successful attempt - but one that causes Palestinian losses on the Mount, like Goldstein in Hebron - would be enough to drown the disengagement in a sea of blood.

"It's only a miracle that events of the past did not end in a terrible disaster," writes Nadav Shragai in his comprehensive, fascinating book Har HaMerivah, "Mount of Dispute," from 1995. The chance that such a miracle will happen again is fading, and the tangible danger to the peace of the world resulting from a Temple Mount catastrophe requires taking the responsibility for the security of the mosques out of Israel's hands immediately.

The UN Security Council has intervened in less dangerous situations, and sent in international forces to prevent far lesser catastrophes than the destruction of the mosques. Internationalizing the security on the Temple Mount and the presence of international forces skilled in counter-terrorism and resistant to nationalist and religious incitement are preferable to a police force which experience shows won't always know how to respond correctly and efficiently. Maybe internationalization of the Mount is really in Israel's interest; if a disaster happens, the blame won't be on us.

Floods displace millions in Asia; at least 1,600 die

By Wayne Arnold

NEW YORK TIMES

SINGAPORE - Governments and relief agencies across Asia were racing to cope with homelessness and outbreaks of disease Wednesday after heavy rains across the southeastern Himalayan foothills caused rivers from southwestern China to northeastern India to flood vast parts of the continent.

In Dhaka, Bangladesh, as much as one-third of the city has been submerged by the worst floods since 1998.

"The situation on the whole seems to be getting worse," said Bahre Gessesse, an officer at the U.N. World Food Program in Dhaka.

Triggered by a heavy spring monsoon, floods have spread across parts of Bangladesh, China, India, Nepal and Vietnam, killing at least 1,600 people and leaving millions homeless.

In addition to relief agencies, some governments have dispatched troops to assist in relief efforts as floodwaters threatened important crop-growing regions.

The situation also may grow worse, officials warned, with more monsoon rains due in August, when a full moon has raised sea levels and kept floodwaters from receding.

In China, authorities are wrestling with both floods and drought, a combination of natural calamities that the news media have called the worst in decades. While parts of northern and eastern China bake in temperatures as high as 100 degrees, the southwestern and central provinces of Hunan, Henan, Hubei, Guangxi and Yunnan have been inundated with waters that have destroyed at least 275,000 homes and destroyed 5.16 million hectares, or more than 12 million acres, of farmland.

So far, the floods in China have killed 439 people and injured 21,600, with 1.46 million people displaced.

China's Ministry of Civil Affairs reportedly has set aside 69 million yuan, or more than $8 million, in relief funds.

The death toll is worse in India, however, with 686 fatalities so far.

Flooding along the Brahmaputra and Ganges rivers has ravaged the poor eastern Indian states of Assam and Bihar. In Bihar alone, state officials have reported 460 deaths as food shortages and waterborne diseases spread among the population.

"The situation is very alarming," the Indian prime minister, Manmohan Singh, told reporters after touring Bihar by air Tuesday. He pledged to send a high-level team next week to survey the area and recommend assistance. He also said the country's central bank would consider debt relief for affected farmers.

Farther downstream, as much as two-thirds of Bangladesh has been inundated. Many of Dhaka's 10 million residents have taken to rafts and boats to avoid waters filled with human waste by overflowing sewers.

Nearly 400 people in Bangladesh have been killed and 1.3 million people displaced, according to official estimates.

In addition to more than 3,000 medical teams, the government has dispatched troops to help reach people stranded by rising waters and to help distribute food and medicine, said Gessesse, the U.N. official. The U.N. World Food Program also has begun distributing emergency food supplies, including high-energy biscuits and rice, he said.

While waters appear to be receding somewhat, concerns are mounting that they will not ease enough before monsoon rains due next month cause further catastrophe, said Salim Bhuihan at the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center in Bangladesh.

"All concerned should be very careful," he said in an interview. "They should be prepare to face a lot of floods again in August." Aggravating the situation, he said, is a full moon due at the end of this month, which would raise the sea level and slow the flow of floodwaters into the Bay of Bengal.

As the waters recede, residents in Bangladesh and the Indian state of Assam also are dealing with an invasion of poisonous snakes and rats vying with people for shelter.

In Vietnam, flash floods have struck northern parts of the country. The state news media in Hanoi reported that as much as 25 percent of the crucial rice-growing areas of the Red River delta could be at risk. Vietnam's government has halted rice exports to prevent a shortage of the grain this year.

Flooding along the rivers of the Himalayas is a regular event, with water levels rising first with melting spring snows and then fed by a rainy season that runs from June to October. But heavy logging has increased the risk of devastating floods.

Subject: Soaring UFO Sightings Near Record High

Soaring UFO sightings near record high
Mysterious lights, dazzling mid-air manoeuvres reported. More than 400
encounters of the curious kind filed so far this year

JIM BRONSKILL
CANADIAN PRESS

OTTAWA—From a translucent, saucer-shaped object in British Columbia to
mysterious lights buzzing motorists in New Brunswick, Canadians are on
their way to reporting a record number of UFO sightings this year.

More than 400 stories of curious encounters were filed through the end
of July, compared with just over 300 by this time last year, says
Ufology Research of Manitoba, a group that tracks reports of
unidentified flying objects.

At this rate, the total for 2004 will surpass the current record of 673
sightings reported last year, said Chris Rutkowski, research
co-ordinator for the Winnipeg-based organization.

The group receives reports directly by telephone and e-mail from sister
agencies that follow the phenomenon, and via federal departments such as
transport and national defence.

Rutkowski isn't sure why the numbers are rising, but suspects it might
be linked to public awareness of recent exploratory missions to planets
such as Mars and Saturn.

"I think there is a resurgence of interest in space," he said yesterday.
Dazzling mid-air manoeuvres were a feature of some of the more dramatic
otherworldly episodes.

At a military base in Beaverbank, N.S., on April 23, three people
spotted several lights in the east, including a slow-moving red one
bobbing up and down. Suddenly, a second red light swooped in, prompting
the first one to climb upwards and fly over it.

In a July 5 incident, a Rosemont, Que., couple saw a very bright red
light moving slowly westward. Travelling much too low to be an airplane
or helicopter, the object plunged to the ground and disappeared after
about a minute.

Two people sitting on a hill in an Edmonton park on June 23 watched four
distinct lights hover above them.
"At first they thought it was some sort of satellite," Rutkowski said.
"But then the lights gathered together, close in the sky, and spread out
again. They would travel in one direction for a while and then curve
back in a very sharp turn in another direction. And they watched it for
90 minutes."

The Prairies seem to be a hotbed of unexplained activity.

In Alberta, 61 sightings occurred up to the end of July, compared with
76 in all of last year. There were 50 in Manitoba, already double the
total for 2003, while 19 reports emerged from Saskatchewan, topping last
year's 13.

In a widely reported incident, the pilot of Prime Minister Paul Martin's
plane reported seeing a "very bright light" falling through the air,
with smoke trailing, while the aircraft passed over Suffield, Alta., on
March 21.

Rutkowski believes that while most UFO reports have simple explanations
— many being meteors — a small percentage are puzzling and deserve
the attention of scientists.

SOME INTERESTING DOCS FROM JIM BRAMLETT'S SITE headed your way . . .

Angels appear as humans

-- then vanish --
after making startling announcement
that Jesus is coming "very, very soon"!!!
And other supernatural confirmations of Christ's soon return!
by Jim Bramlett

Introduction. Numerous reputable people have told me, most unsolicited, of experiences with angels they either had personally or knew about. In most cases, the angels appeared to provide help in some distressful situation. However, several of the incidents, including the ones below, are particularly interesting for two reasons: (1) they contain a message (literally, the word "angel" means "messenger") and, (2) the incidents were brought to my personal attention under unusual circumstances, making me think God sent them my way. In each case, the angel delivered basically the same startling announcement of the soon return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Why me? Why did these stories come to me? My only guess is because I have the inclination to pursue them, to write about them, and to tell you about them. In God's great love, it may all be just for you.

Caution. It is important to stress that any mystical experience, even messages from angels, must be carefully judged against God's Holy Word, the Bible. New Agers and other non-Christians claim angelic revelations while rejecting the cross of Christ which paid the price for our spiritual blessings and access to heavenly things. They are deceived and usually involved with demonic spirits. A pertinent fact about the experiences below is that they came to me after I had already concluded their general message from the Scriptures. Therefore, they were confirming messages. Nevertheless, judge them for yourselves. (Note: I was not able to confirm # 1.)

Encounter # 1 (Not confirmed)

This is one of the incidents reported to me that I was never able to actually confirm after hours of frustrating attempts and many long-distance telephone calls.. It reportedly happened in the Atlanta, Georgia area, on I-285 near "Spaghetti Junction." I traced the incident from a friend in California California to a United Airlines pilot in Chicago, then to at least 15 others in Atlanta, including a medical doctor. Each person with whom I have talked has seemed highly credible, although I could never trace it to the source.

A lady passed a hitchhiker on the expressway, giving no thought to stopping. But she heard a voice say, "Pick him up." She did not stop, but continued on. But she again heard the voice: "I told you to pick him up." She now felt compelled to go back. She turned off the expressway, then got back on via an access road. She thought it would be unlikely that the person would still be there, but if he was, she would pick him up. To her surprise, the man was still there, so she stopped. He got into the car. They chatted for a few moments, then after a brief pause, the stranger said, "Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ is coming soon?" On hearing that, the woman glanced toward the stranger -- but he was not there. He had suddenly and unexplainably vanished!

She was so shaken that she had to pull off the expressway. After sitting there a few minutes trying to regain her composure, a policeman pulled up behind her, got out of his car, went up to her window and said, "Ma'am, is there a problem?"

She replied, "Officer, if I told you what just happened to me, you wouldn't believe it."

The policeman urged her to tell him anyhow. She described what had just happened. He responded, "Ma'am, normally I would think that you were one of the craziest people I have ever seen, but you are the seventh person today to give me this same report."

Encounter # 2 (Confirmed)

While in the process of investigating the above incident, I learned of this next amazing one from another person in California, although it took place in Tennessee. It happened just past midnight on March 26, 1993, to Vincent Tan, an analytical chemist who works in Chattanooga. I spent weeks personally tracing this incident and have confirmed it with two reputable Christian leaders, his pastor and, finally, even Vincent himself. The following is a precisely recorded account: Vincent was born Tan Ban Soon in Singapore of Chinese, Buddhist parents. A few years ago as a young boy in Singapore, he was in the library reading a book on nuclear physics and discovered an offer for a Bible course stuck between some pages. He ordered the course and later became a Christian. He came to the U.S. to attend a Christian college, then gave himself the western name of Vincent. After four years, he graduated with a major in science. He has been very active in his church and in sharing his faith.

On the night of Thursday, March 25, 1993, Vincent was working late in his laboratory to complete tests due on Friday. During the evening he moved his car close to the front door of the building, since there had recently been criminal activity in the area. From time to time he looked out the window into the almost empty parking lot to check on his car. At 1:30 a.m. he finished working in his lab. As he was preparing to lock the door, he saw a person standing by the passenger side of his car. Vincent assumed the man was trying to steal his car. He noted that the stranger was of medium build with clean-cut, straight hair and had on a T-shirt, blue jeans and white tennis shoes.

Unsure what to do, he went back into the lab and prayed, "Lord, help me to do what I have to do. Do I have to use chi-sao?" Chi-sao (pronounced "chee'-sow-o") is a form of martial art in which Vincent is proficient. To be extra safe, he looked around the lab and picked up an 18-inch metal rod, held it behind him and stuck his head out the door. He said, "Hi, can I help you?"

The stranger answered, "Hi, Vincent."

Startled, Vincent asked, "Do I know you?"

The stranger replied, "Not really."

"What is your name? Who are you?" Vincent probed.

The stranger said, "I have the name of your primary and secondary school." He added, "I'm a friend. You don't have to use chi-sao or the rod on me." His voice had unusual authority, and it seemed he knew the question before it was asked.

Now Vincent was really startled. No one, not even his best friend in this country, was familiar with chi-sao, nor did anyone even know that he knew it. Also, there was no way the stranger could have seen the rod behind his back. Vincent later reflected that the stranger had used terminology ("primary and secondary school") of Singapore and not the U.S., and that name of his school back in Singapore was St. Gabriel. The stranger was saying that his name was Gabriel!

"How do you know that?" Vincent asked.

"I know," the stranger replied. "By the way, Mum is fine." Vincent was startled again. Just the week before, his sister had called from Singapore saying that his mother had heart complications, and Vincent had been quite worried about her.

Gabriel continued, "You love the Lord very much, don't you?"
"That's right," Vincent replied.

"He loves you very much, too," Gabriel said. Then he added, "He is coming very, very soon." He seemed to emphasize the "very soon."

Vincent answered, "That's great!"

Gabriel then asked, "Can I have a cup of water?"

Vincent said, "Sure," and turned momentarily to get him the water. Then he decided to invite the stranger inside to drink from the water fountain. He turned back to invite him inside -- but Gabriel was not there. He had suddenly and unexplainably vanished! Vincent had not turned his head for more than three seconds. There was no place for the stranger to have gone.

Puzzled, and not wanting to go back into the lab, Vincent laid the metal rod down by the front door and headed to his home outside of Chattanooga. When he came back to work later that morning, he wondered if he had dreamed the whole experience. As a scientist, he wanted to prove whether it had really happened. When he got to the building, he found the metal rod lying by the door just where he had left it. He knew he had not been dreaming. Upon entering the lab, the first thing he did was to lock himself in the rest room and kneel in prayer. "Show me what to do, Lord. I know what I remember. If I'm supposed to share it, I must believe it myself," Vincent pleaded. He then sat down at his computer and recorded every word said and everything that had happened.

That night, March 26, 1993, in a dream Vincent relived the whole experience, seeing himself, and word for word hearing the whole conversation. He awoke at about 3:30 a.m. and wrote down every word in the dream and the description of the stranger. What he wrote from the dream confirmed every detail he had written earlier. Also, a week after the experience, he learned that his mother had received needed surgery and was recuperating nicely -- and that the medical decision about her improved condition came a week earlier at about the very same hour as he was talking with Gabriel!

On July 29, 1993 I asked Vincent what effect this experience has had on him. He said he believes more strongly now that we should be ready every day for the Lord's coming, and not worry about which day He will come. He said the experience has intensified his dedication, causing him to spend more devotional time than before, wanting to know more about God and be closer to Him. For some time, even before that experience, Vincent said he had been asking God, "Am I ready, right now?" Now, more meaningfully than ever, this writer is asking that same question.

Encounter # 3: Vincent's second (confirmed)

I recently confirmed personally with Vincent that he has had another encounter, this time with an unnamed angel, on Thursday, December 23, 1993. Like the above, the following is an accurate record of exactly what happened and words exchanged.

Two Significant Prior Events. There are two events that have a bearing on this one. First, in July, 1993, Vincent had a dream. He saw himself standing at the door of a big room. He saw many candles, but not all of them were lit. He asked himself in the dream why the unlit candles. Then he heard a sad voice behind him saying, "If only all of them were lit." He turned around but didn't see anyone. A week later he had the exact same dream. Vincent shared the dreams in his Bible study and said he hoped someday the Lord would show him the meaning of the dreams.

Second, three months later in October, 1993 a stranded motorist waved Vincent down and asked him to jump start his car. Vincent stopped but did not have a cable. However, Vincent asked the man if he believed in God. The man asked what could God do. Vincent told him he believed that God could help in any situation such as this if we ask Him. So Vincent prayed out loud for God's help. After he prayed Vincent noticed a coat hanger on the road.

Somehow, he figured out a way to break the coat hanger in two and use one part to connect the positive terminals and the other part to touch the two auto bodies together as ground. The man's car started. He looked at Vincent and said, "You sure have a powerful God!" Vincent said, "I sure do. All we have to do is believe in Him." The man said, "I'll have to think about that," and left. Two days later, Vincent got a jumper cable for his truck.

The December 23, 1993 Experience. Shortly after 11 p.m.,

December 23, 1993, Vincent was in his truck returning home from visiting a friend near Chattanooga. About four miles away from the friend's home, he saw a truck alongside the road with its hood up and with an old man, estimated at about age 75, standing in front of it. Vincent was always wary of stopping for strangers, and believed one must really be led of the Lord in order to do so. He felt he should stop. He walked up to the man and asked if anything was wrong, to which the man replied that he a dead battery. Vincent asked if he could help in any way. The man asked that Vincent go get his jumper cable out of the truck. Vincent was surprised that he said this, as if knowing that Vincent had a jumper cable, especially since he had only recently obtained one. Vincent himself had forgotten that he had the cable, but when the old man told him about it he remembered. It was very dark and Vincent had to use his flashlight to see to connect his end of the cable. Then he turned around to discover that the man had already connected his end, even in the dark and with no flashlight. That seemed impossible, and startled Vincent.

Vincent said, "I need to do something first." The man looked at him and said, "I did it already." Vincent said, "Did what?" The man said, "I placed the bricks by your tires. That's what you want, isn't it?" The man had no way of knowing that Vincent had two bricks in his truck or that he wanted to block his tires with them because he didn't trust his hand brake and because the gear would have to be in neutral to start the other truck. Vincent checked and discovered that the man had placed the bricks behind the exact same tires that Vincent wanted. At this point, Vincent was convinced that this was not a natural person. And after the experience in March, Vincent had decided that if the Lord ever gave him the privilege of another encounter with an angel, he had many questions he wanted to ask. But he had a sudden feeling come over him and some force caused his mouth to be kept shut. He was not able to say anything except to respond to whatever the old man wanted or said.

Vincent was now ready to start the truck, and the old man said, "Can we wait in your truck and have my truck charged up?"

Vincent agreed and they sat in his truck. The old man spoke first and said, "Can we pray? God can work miracles -- even start a car with a coat hanger." (The previous incident with the coat hanger job was a car and not a truck!) At this, Vincent said to himself that this stranger must be an angel!

The old man prayed: "Oh most holy and powerful God in heaven, we know you are coming very, very soon. Help us now in your own time and way. In Jesus' Name. Amen." Vincent said the man's voice was so powerful and assuring that it sent chills through him. After the prayer the man asked Vincent, "Do you believe the Lord is coming soon?" Vincent said yes. Then the man said, "He is coming very, very soon, and we need to be ready now and always." Then he said, "Can I use your Bible?" Vincent agreed, then without any word from Vincent the man reached into the glove compartment for the Bible, already knowing where it was located.

The man asked Vincent, "Do you read your Bible.?" Vincent replied that he tried to read it every day. The man said, "That's very good. It's unfortunate that many do not do that. Having Bible studies is like being in a big room with many candles that are lit." Vincent knew he had God's answer about his dreams six months earlier. The unlit candles meant many people were not spending time studying God's Word! Now Vincent had absolutely no doubt that this was an angel.

It was very dark, but the man took Vincent's King James Bible and, without searching, flipped immediately to the exact page, to Matthew, chapter 24. Then Vincent shined the flashlight on the page as the man read verse 36: "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." He then jumped down to verse 42: "Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come."

Then again, as if knowing exactly where the page was, without searching he flipped to John, chapter 14, and read verses 1-3: "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

Then again, he amazingly flipped directly to Revelation 3, verse 11, and read: "Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown." With that, the man put the Bible back in the glove compartment. Vincent reflected that all three passages, and everything the man said, was about the Lord's return.

After reading, the man put the Bible back and said, "The truck is ready." He started the truck and Vincent said he would follow him for awhile to make sure everything was okay. The man said, "Thank you very much for your help. By the way, I left a small token for you. It will be enough to fill up your car tomorrow." That was strange, because there was no way for the man to know that Vincent had a car in addition to his truck. Vincent followed him about a mile with the man's tail lights clearly in view, then as they were going around a curve, he suddenly vanished from view. He and his truck just disappeared. Thinking his vision may have been obstructed by trees or something, Vincent even went back the next day during the daylight and retraced everything. There were no trees or anything obstructing his view. There was no human explanation. Also the next day, as he always does on Friday, Vincent took his car to the service station to fill up the tank with gasoline, so it would be full for the weekend. He had forgotten what the man had said about leaving a token "to fill up your car tomorrow." Vincent put $2.32 worth of gas in his car, then tried to round it off to $2.35 or $2.40. But he could only get it up to $2.34 and it stopped. It just would not take more than exactly $2.34.

Vincent then left to visit a friend's house, but remembered that he had left the friend's Christmas gift in his truck, so he went back home. When home, Vincent decided to clean his truck a bit before leaving. While doing so, he found some money on the front seat, passenger's side, underneath his glove. The money consisted of two one-dollar bills, a quarter, a nickel, and four pennies -- exactly $2.34!"

Encounter # 4: Vincent’s third (confirmed)

Vincent had another amazing experience in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 13th 1998. He had been working late in his chemist job again to finish some urgent jobs. He left work at about 1 a.m. When he got outside, he suddenly realized that he had left his keys on his desk, but was not able to get back inside because of the automatic lock on the door. So now he could neither get back inside, nor drive his truck. He prayed that the Lord would unlock his truck, but nothing happened.

He walked across the street to a pay phone but discovered it had been vandalized. He remembered his cellular phone in his backpack and took it out. Vincent then realized he had left the battery at home to be recharged (an old model), and it could not work, of course, without a battery. Nevertheless, he prayed and asked the Lord to allow him to make one call. As soon as he prayed, he noticed the phone miraculously lighting up, and he called a friend to pick him up. The friend agreed to do so.

Vincent then sat down by a doorstep of the lab and waited. A little while later a police car drove up and stopped. The policeman asked, "What are you doing?"

"I'm waiting for a friend," Vincent replied. He told the policeman his situation, about the prayer to open his truck, and the call to his friend.

The policeman replied, "Your friend isn't coming." He noticed Vincent's Bible, and added, "That's a good book to read." Some conversation ensued in which Vincent disclosed his faith and his belief that the Lord is coming "very, very soon."

The policeman replied, "I believe the Lord’s coming is very, very near too."

At that very moment, a call came in over the policeman's radio and he said he had to leave. Before he left, the policeman remarked to Vincent, "Why don't you pray and ask the Lord to open the door to your lab?" Vincent said he watched him leave, while praying silently.

Vincent said, "I had barely finished praying when the lab door miraculously opened. I immediately stood up and turned around towards the door and noticed that someone had pushed the lock bar and opened it from the inside. I held on to the door and turned to look at the police car and noticed he was not to be seen, even though I had taken my eye off him for only a few seconds."

Vincent got his keys and drove away in his truck. He drove by his friend's home and noticed both their vehicles in their driveway. He assumed that they must have gone back to sleep, forgetting him.

Vincent said that he decided to go on home, "believing I may have actually spoken with an angel," he said. The next day he checked with his friend whom he had called and who had promised to pick him up. The friend did not remember anything about the call!

Here we have: (1) a cell phone that miraculously works without a battery, (2) a mysteriously appearing and disappearing policeman who said "I believe the Lord's coming is very, very near," (3) the policeman knew in advance that the friend would not pick Vincent up, (4) after the policeman told him to pray, a door that miraculously opened from the inside even though no one was inside, (5) a friend promised to pick him up but neither he nor his wife remember the telephone call. The whole episode is no doubt supernatural.

Comments

Incident # 2 above about "Gabriel" motivated me to review references in the Bible to the angel Gabriel. By name, Gabriel appeared to three people. The first was to the prophet Daniel in about 550 B.C. He gave Daniel a vision of the future, including the timing of Christ's first coming. And similar to the message to Vincent, he said to Daniel, "You are greatly beloved." Later, as recorded in Luke, he appeared to Zechariah, saying these awesome words, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God," as he announced the birth of John the Baptist; then shortly thereafter he appeared to the virgin Mary to announce the birth of Christ. Gabriel's main function in both Old and New Testaments seems to be in connection with announcing the coming of the Son of God to the world.

Angels who appear as humans are not without biblical precedent. For example, two angels came to Sodom to warn Lot before they destroyed the city (Genesis 19). They visited Lot's home, ate with him, and even spent the night! They appeared as such "real people" that Sodom's homosexuals tried to accost them and have sex with them, but the angels struck them blind. The next day, because of its blatant wickedness, God destroyed the city by fire.

Encounter # 5: Vincent's fourth (confirmed):

God makes a telephone call -- literally!

This may or may not have involved an angel. What is described below could have been either the sovereign hand of God Himself or an angel. However, we do know that God does uses angels to carry out His work so my guess is that an angel was involved. Also, the below incident does not involve prophecy but I am including it because the supernatural nature of it affirms the other prophetic experieces had by Vincent Tan described above.

On Saturday, April 6, 1996, Vincent was awakened at 4:30 a.m. with a burden to pray. He slipped to his knees beside his bed for a few moments, after which he returned to bed and to sleep. He arose later, and at 7 a.m. began his morning prayer time. At 7:30, as he was still praying, the telephone rang. So as not to be disturbed, he decided to let the answering machine take the call.

For some strange reason, the answering machine refused to take the call. The telephone kept ringing, as though demanding to be picked up! Vincent discovered that the answering machine was, indeed, on, but that it was not taking the call. He decided to go ahead and answer it. He also noted that, oddly, his Caller I.D. failed to show the number of the caller.

"Hello," Vincent said. Surprisingly, the other party also said,

"Hello." Again, Vincent said, "Hello." Again, the lady on the other end said, "Hello." Vincent asked, "Do you want to speak to me?"

The lady said, "No."

Vincent then asked, "Then why did you call me?" The lady said, "I didn't call you." Vincent explained that his phone rang and he had answered it. The lady said the same thing happened to her-that her phone rang and she had answered it. Vincent told her his name, and she said her name was Doris, and that she was in Iowa. They both concluded that somehow their lines must have become crossed, causing this freak mishap.

(God had caused two distant telephones-one in Tennessee, and one in Iowa-to ring each other simultaneously, and for the loving and Divine purpose explained below.)

But in another surprise, Doris asked, "Are you the same Vincent who had an experience with an angel?" Vincent said yes. She explained that she and her mother had read about Vincent's story about a year ago in an article I had written. Doris went on to say that six months ago, her mother was diagnosed with cancer and only given six months to live. She said that every day for the past six months her mother had prayed that she would be able to meet or speak with Vincent before she died. In her prayers about this, she had claimed the promises of Jeremiah 32:27, which says, "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?" and Jeremiah 33:3: "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." A few years ago, Vincent had also claimed these same promises.

Doris explained that her mother was near death, and how that very morning, at 3:30 a.m., Iowa time (the exact same as Vincent's prayer at 4:30 a.m., Eastern Time) she was awake and felt led to seek the Lord and remind Him of her mother's request. She asked if Vincent would speak with her mother, to which Vincent agreed.

(As an answer to this dying mother's fervent, daily prayers, God had miraculously allowed her to speak with Vincent!)

Her mother was bed-ridden, so Doris decided to put Vincent on the speaker-phone, which took a few moments to set up. Finally, after waiting, Vincent heard the mother's weak but audible voice. The mother thanked Vincent for talking with her, and then asked if he would please personally repeat for her his angel experiences. Vincent patiently took about the next 45 minutes describing to her the incidents in detail. At the end of his description, Vincent heard the mother say weakly, "Praise the Lord. Amen."

This was followed by silence. All was strangely quiet. Vincent waited, thinking that Doris was taking him off the speaker. After a few moments, Doris broke the silence and came back on the regular telephone. "Praise the Lord," she said. "My mother just died."

Vincent now says, "I was so overwhelmed with mixed emotions. I did not know whether to be happy or sad." He says he decided to say goodbye so that Doris could be with her mother. In the shock and emotion of the moment, Vincent didn't think to get Doris' telephone number for follow up. But he says, "I know that the Lord has His reasons for us not getting each other's numbers. Why He would not let her number flash on my (Caller I.D.) screen is still a mystery. Yet I am amazed at His miraculous action in ringing both our phones at the same time. As I ponder over the event, I am grateful to the Lord for His loving kindness. It just encouraged my faith to trust Him even more, knowing that in the fullness of His time, He will answer our prayers."

Vincent added the following, a message I believe not just for me, but for all who read this:

"I hope that this will be an encouragement to you as it has been to me. I know that we will see Doris' mother in heaven when we all will be able to know the answers to our questions. The Lord is coming very, very soon. As we near the final hours, I know that His presence is even evermore with us now....May the Lord continue to bless you....Let us be ready now, for His coming is very, very near."

Encounter # 6: Mother hears voice -- same message (confirmed)

More recently, while perhaps not involving angel, on December 30, 1999, a mother in Maryland, Beth, told me an amazing and confirming testimony. She said, "I would like to share with you an occurrence that happened on December 10, 1999 in the a.m. My 8-year-old was at school and my husband was at work.... I had my 6-month-old son in his swing in front of the television watching Sesame Street. What caught my attention was that the television made the 'shhhh' sound. I turned to look and the screen was snowy as expected with that noise. It's what happened next. The television completely cut off. My child was asleep. No sooner did I think, 'Oh, the cable must have cut off,' did I hear a voice. It said, ‘The lord is coming very, very soon.' I was dumfounded, and then the TV came back to normal and Sesame Street continued."

She went on to describe her reactions and adds that it was three days later on December 13th that she came across my article about Vincent’s angel encounters with the exact same message.

"Needless to say," she concludes, "the messages that your witnesses received were exactly as my message was. I was very shaken.... I wonder why He chose me to relay this message."

Encounter # 7: Angels discovered singing end-time song
in rural Chinese worship service! (confirmed)

This is a totally different kind of angel incident, but with a similar message and no less powerful. In May, 1995 I received this most electrifying report from a friend who has been a missionary to China for several years. To protect him and his contacts in China, I must not reveal his name. But for you to better understand his credibility, let me explain that I have known him for many years. He is a graduate of a prestigious theological seminary and is a former pastor. My friend is an intelligent and balanced servant of God. He is not given to sensationalism. The following is a summary of his recent report to me.

The whole province of Shandong, in eastern China (population: 57 million), is in the midst of a sweeping revival. For fear of arrest, believers meet secretly in house churches, often by candlelight. At a 1995 meeting in Shandong, everyone was singing "in the Spirit" together (1 Corinthians 14:15), not in their own language, but "as the Spirit gave them utterance," all in harmony but all singing different words. Someone audiotaped the meeting. Later, when they played back the cassette, they were shocked! What they heard was not what had happened there at all -- but the sound of angels singing in Mandarin -- a song they had never heard before, and with a musical accompaniment that had not been there!!! When my friend first heard the tape, before anyone told him what it was, he exclaimed, "Those are angels!!" Actually, there was no other explanation. A Chinese Christian co-worker translated the tape. Below are the actual words sung by the angels! Note that the words express ideas with which these rural Chinese peasants were not familiar. (Original Chinese version follows).

"The End is Near: Rescue Souls"

The famine is becoming more and more critical.
There are more and more earthquakes.
The situation is becoming more and more sinister.
People are fighting against each other, nation against nation.
Disasters are more and more severe.

The whole environment is deteriorating.
Disasters are more and more severe.
People's hearts are wicked, and they do not worship the true God.
Disasters are more and more severe.

Floods and droughts are more and more frequent.
There is more and more homosexuality and incurable diseases.
Disasters are more and more severe.

The climates are becoming more and more abnormal.
The earth is more and more restless.
The skies have been broken. The atmosphere is distorted.
Disasters are more and more severe.

Chorus:

The end is near. The revelation of love has been manifested.
Rise up, rise up, rescue souls.
The end is near.
Rise up, rise up, rescue souls.

The below was translated by two native Chinese Christian in Beijing who have personal knowledge of the church and the pastor where the incident happened:

Conclusion

While we may never know the day or hour of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, Scriptures do clearly indicate that seekers will at least know approximately. And there is overwhelming evidence that the return of the Lord will be soon. According to the four of the encounters and testimonies above, it will be "very, very soon."

Raising the dead

The gifts of the Spirit and the authority to "heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils" (Matthew 10:8) were never lost in the church, but there seems to be a resurgence in recent years, no doubt another sign of the Lord's soon return and God pouring out His Spirit in the last days as prophesied in Acts 2:17.

In the past few years I have heard credible, confirmed reports of the dead being raised in different parts of the world, such as China, India and other Third-World countries. This is no doubt because people there have more simple, childlike faith in God's Word and are blessed to have fewer "doctors of theology" than we do, telling them it all "passed away" and is not supposed to happen, filling them with doubt and unbelief, so typical of the pseudo-intellectual West.

The other day I inquired of the Lord, "Lord, what do I say to people who say that your command in Matthew 10:5-8 was just for the disciples but is not for us today, and that you are not doing that any more?" My quick response was that the more classic Great Commission in Matthew 28 says, " Teaching them to observe ALL THINGS whatsoever I have commanded you." Observe all things! That seemed pretty clear.

The Lord then added a little icing on the cake. He reminded me that the Great Commission starts with the word "GO," and in the raise-the-dead passage of Matthew 10, He said, "AS YOU GO…!" It could not be more clear. The two passages go together. Mark 16:15-18 is another confirming Great Commission "GO" passage.

In addition to the inerrant Word of God, we have testimony of it actually happening. For example, recently I received a letter from a long-time missionary friend who just returned from Uganda. He tells about a pastor friend there:

"On September 25, 1999, after preaching in a village near the town of Bostime, Uganda, he was preparing to leave the meeting when a Muslim man approached him. The man had met a weeping mother walking along the road on her way to bury her dead child. He had told her that there was a man in town preaching about Jesus' power to raise the dead. The Muslim man brought the woman with the dead infant to Rev. Idrifua wanting him to pray for the dead child. Rev. Idrifua asked the mother if she was a believer. She said she was. The Spirit of God came on him. He told the woman, 'Remove your breast and prepare to nurse the baby.' (A common practice in Africa.) She did so and he laid hands on the baby and strongly rebuked the spirit of death, then commanded life to return. Immediately the baby came to life crying and began to swing its arms and legs, then quieted down and began to nurse! The Muslim man got so excited he went to a friend's house whose baby also had died several hours before the first baby. This dead baby was the child of a Muslim cleric (or pastor), a Haji. He brought this dead child and its mother to Rev. Idrifua. God raised the second baby to life too! Five Muslims gave their hearts to Jesus that day -- including the Haji!"

Here are more examples. Recently I was privileged to hear the testimony of David Hogan, a missionary who has lived in Mexico and the jungles of Guatemala for the past 22 or so years, preaching and planting churches among the Indians under the most dangerous and primitive conditions. He has planted several hundred churches, has been shot, stoned and beaten, losing 11 of his native pastors to martyrdom. As a jungle man from the front lines, Hogan is very unsophisticated. When he speaks he does so in his boots, blue jeans and with his trademark bandana. But he is an absolutely sold-out radical for Jesus who takes God at His Word!

Hogan's testimony is electrifying. He has seen thousands of miracles and healings. He tells of one near-dead, wasted, dead-flesh-smelling leper who was restored to perfect health. He has also seen about 200 people raised from the dead!

The testimony and teaching of David Hogan, "Faith to Raise the Dead," proclaims the living Christ and will supercharge your own faith. It is on four video tapes and can be obtained from the Brownsville Revival School of Ministry (where he was teaching.) The video set costs $48 plus shipping, and can be ordered by calling 850-458-5310, or visiting their Web site at

http://www.revivalschool.org.

WARNING: This guy is really radical in his challenge to all believers, and he may offend your comfort zone. His world is a replay of the Book of Acts. But isn't that the way it is supposed to be? I suspect Peter, James, John, Stephen and Paul would speak to us the same way.

He lives!

God speaks to Muslim woman!

Friends Christine and Peter Darg have been missionaries to both Jews and Muslims in the Middle East, and also Africa, for many years, and have seen God do many incredible miracles. With a broadcasting background and great talent, in the 1980s they were Chief Correspondents and news anchors for CBN's Middle East Television in Israel, then felt led to begin their own ministry.

They both regularly see God do many signs and wonders. In one of her newsletters, "Exploits" (free copy, see below), Christine traces God's use of miracles and signs in church history, and relates some that have happened to them or they have discovered. She reports an experience of Peter's in Africa: "While on a mission to sub-Sahara Burkina Faso, Peter Darg ministered with a pastor who had recently led 300 Muslims to the Lord. One of the Muslim wives heard continually in her dreams, 'I am coming soon,' but she did not know Who is coming until she watched the 'JESUS' film presented during the mission!"

This is more dramatic evidence that the Lord is revealing Himself supernaturally to Muslims and others through dreams, visions, healings and miracles, especially in the Third World, where faith is often higher than in the pseudo-intellectual West. It is also more exciting evidence that Jesus is "coming soon"!!!

I strongly commend to you the ministry of Christine and Peter Darg, Daystar International. God's hand and anointing are tremendously on them. Their Web address is http://www.messiahcam.org, where one can download a daily live picture from their Web camera overlooking the Old City Walls of Jerusalem, the holy city. Their Web site has been the subject of articles by the Associated Press, the BBC, the London Daily Telegraph and The Wall Street Journal.

I also strongly urge everyone to get a free copy of Christine's latest newsletter, "Exploits," and her outstanding article, "The Working of Miracles." A free copy can be obtained by request to exploits@compuserve.com. Include your name and mailing address.

Also, please pray for Christine and Peter, who are literally on the front lines in the Middle East and Africa as yielded vessels of both the compassion and power of our Lord. They love both Jews and Muslims and are pouring out their lives for them, for Jesus' sake. I thank God for them and all that they are doing.

FASCINATING:

FROM:

HERE: http://www.choicesforliving.com/spirit/part4/angelsindonesia.htm

--------------------

Angels appear in Indonesian Church

A fellow in Indonesia named Jimmy sent me the below photo with this explanation:

"I herewith send you a picture of seven Angels appeared at an International Church Growth Seminar, July 1 - 4, 2002, in Surabaya, Indonesia. The Angels were dancing in front of the stage during praise and worship session; Nobody knew until the film was processed and printed. I was sent this picture by a friend & there is no camera trick !!! I think that I need to send you this picture to be shared with others ... what a tremendous joy !!! God bless & Maranatha."

(He also gave the URL for the church: www.bethanygraha.org.)

Since I do not really know Jimmy, and even though I had no reason to doubt, I preferred some confirmation of such an astonishing phenomenon, so I inquired of a missionary/evangelist friend, Darrel Stott, who spends a lot of time in Indonesia and knows many people there. Darrell replied that he frequently ministers in that particular church, and said:

"It would be credible from my opinion. The biggest change in my last two trips was angelic activity in the meetings and increase in physical healings. In various meeting, groups of young adults came to the front and pointed and talked to the angels as I ministered. They spoke in a language that sounded like tongues to the angels but they also could understand each other in this tongue as they spoke to the angels."

(Darrell has an awesome ministry noted for powerful evangelism and supernatural happenings.

FOLLOWING IS A PSYCHIATRIST'S PERSPECTIVE ON PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT (IN TONGUES) FROM:

http://www.choicesforliving.com/spirit/part4/tongues.htm

Praying in the spirit: a psychiatrist’s report, and more...

This message is not directly about prophecy, but is indirectly, to help one find needed "edification" in this troubled world. Do you sometimes need edifying? If not, you are the only one on planet Earth. God has provided a way.

According to the Holy Spirit, speaking through the apostle Paul: "He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself…" (1 Corinthians 14:4).

The main purpose of this message is to pass along a report by a Christian psychiatrist of the physically edifying effects of praying in tongues. We always thought of the edification as only "spiritual" edification, which is great and always needed, but Christian psychiatrist Carl R. Peterson, M.D. describes physical edification also! Isn’t God amazing? I first heard about this for several months ago but was only recently able to obtain this documentation from Dr. Peterson’s office, which is below.

A word of caution. This manifestation of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, is ridiculed by some and called gibberish, or from the devil. Be careful. This is dangerous and might be considered blasphemy against the Holy One. Not a good idea, if you know what I mean. If anyone does that, you don’t want to be standing next to him in a thunderstorm.

As a matter of reference, I know a distinguished medical doctor who knows Dr. Peterson personally and has worked with him, and who says that Peterson is highly respected, as a psychiatrist and as a Christian.

NOTE: Dr. Peterson begins his attachment by specifically referring to "praying in the spirit" (glossolalia -- speaking in tongues), then begins to just use the words "prayer" or "praying." I am told that throughout his paper he is referring to speaking in tongues, as that is the context of the whole paper, and is as introduced by his letter.

Dear friend,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding the relationship of extended periods of praying in tongues and joyful laughter to brain activity. As you will read in the enclosed explanation, I shared some information concerning this with several ministers at a gathering some time ago. I pray this information will be helpful to you.

Respectfully,

Carl R. Peterson, M.D.

EFFECTS OF EXTENDED VERBAL PRAYER AND JOYFUL LAUGHTER

I have had a number of inquiries concerning the efficacy of praying in the spirit (glossolalia) and its benefit to the human immune system, i.e., immunity enhanced by chemicals released from a part of the brain. I am attempting to clarify some information I have shared with a number of ministers. This is information that may be deduced from what we know about the way the brain functions. We do know the part of the brain affected most noticeably by extended prayer and laughter represents a significant portion of the brain and its metabolic activity. Therefore, voluntary speech during extended vocal prayer causes a major stimulation in these parts of the brain (mainly the hypothalamus). The hypothalamus has direct regulation of four major systems of the body, mainly: a) the pituitary gland and all target endocrine glands; b) the total immune system; c) the entire autonomic system; and d) the production of brain hormones called endorphins and enkephalons, which are chemicals the body produces and are 100-200 times more powerful than morphine.

In summary, a very significant percentage of the central nervous system is directly and indirectly activated in the process of extended verbal and musical prayer over a period of time. This results in a significant release of brain hormones which, in turn, increases the body’s general immunity. It is further enhanced through joyful laughter with increased respirations and oxygen intake to the brain, diaphragm and other muscles. This same phenomenon is seen in physical activity in general, i.e., running, etc.

We know from the Word of God that there is a true joy that builds and sustains. Nehemiah tells us the joy of the Lord is our strength. There is joy in the presence of Jehovah. We, as believers having entered into that wonderful presence of our Lord, know this to be true. What we must continue to remember is that the joy of the Lord spoken of in the Word is so much more than any manifestation. We can truly have that unspeakable joy in the face of any trials we may encounter, if our joy is grounded in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I hope the above information helps to clarify the report you received regarding my statement in the area of the physical effects of speaking in tongues and joyful laughter for extended periods of time. Truly, we all benefit—body, soul, and spirit—from obedience and yielding to the Spirit of God in every area of our lives.

Carl R. Peterson, M.D.

Praying in the spirit: Part 2.

As mentioned in the first part, according to the Holy Spirit Himself, speaking through the apostle Paul: "He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself…" (1 Corinthians 14:4).

These comments may be helpful:

1. Those who oppose what the Scripture says about speaking in tongues usually omit many passages and focus only on the last half of the above verse, "but he who prophesies edifies the church," and are usually the same ones who say, "I want love, not the gifts." However, God says He wants us to have both! They are not mutually exclusive, but are mutually supportive. But the first half of the verse says a lot. Surely we want to edify the church, and there are other gifts to do that, but I have never met anyone who didn’t need personal edification. I do. We need both corporate and individual edification.

2. The Holy Spirit’s words in 1 Corinthians 14:4 above are no doubt related to His words in Jude 20: "Build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit." The "edifies" and "build up " in both verses are from the same root word in Greek and mean essentially the same. That is one reason many theologians believe the reference to praying in the Holy Spirit in Jude 20 is the same as praying in tongues, which Paul says is praying "with my spirit." He says, "I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind" (1 Corinthians 14:15). In verse 14, he says, "For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful." Also, "Anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit" (14:2). (If "no one understands him," that proves it is a heavenly, not human, language.) Paul clearly differentiates between praying "mysteries" to God with the spirit and praying with the mind. So, when praying in tongues, the spirit is praying mysteries to God, the mind is unfruitful, and the one praying is edified. Most praying today is with the mind, which is needed, but maybe that is why many believers are so impotent. That is also probably why the Holy Spirit commands, "Do not forbid speaking in tongues" (14:39), a command violated in many churches and ministries today. Typically, where this command is honored and obeyed, believers are on fire for God, the supernatural gifts are in operation, miracles are seen, and people are being healed and delivered from demonic oppression. In other words, Jesus shows up in power through the simple faith and obedience of His people! People who try to reason the supernatural with their carnal minds instead of simply taking God at His Word make a big mistake, to the detriment of themselves and the church.

3. If God gave the "praying in tongues" that we might edify ourselves, some might try to argue that God is partial. That is because they claim 1 Corinthians 12:30 says that not everyone can speak in tongues. However, if one properly exegetes the many "tongues" passages, he will find that there are two uses or manifestations of tongues: (1) to speak a message to the Body in a corporate setting (1 Corinthians 12:10), which not all are gifted to do, but also (2) to pray individually in tongues, which anyone can do. One reason we believe anyone can do it is based on the fact that in the book of Acts, our model for the church, speaking in tongues was normative for believers. Most or all on whom the Holy Spirit fell began to speak in unknown languages (see Acts 2:4, 10:46, 19:6, and read each carefully). Another reason is that through Paul the Holy Spirit says, "I would like every one of you to speak in tongues" (1 Corinthians 14:5), clearly revealing God’s will. Both these manifestations of the Spirit continue widely to this day, as attested to worldwide.

How does one speak in tongues?

1. If God puts it in your heart to want to be able to speak a message in tongues to a congregation of believers, ask Him for the gift according to 1 Corinthians 14:31 and Mark 11:24, then step out in faith with it as the Holy Spirit leads. "He gives them to each one, just as he determines" (14:11), but ultimately, the manifestation of any gift comes by the believer stepping out in faith.

2. If you want to pray in a heavenly language, make sure you have been filled (baptized, or empowered – take your choice of words, various are used) with the Holy Spirit as were examples in the book of Acts. If you have, you qualify. If not, see below. A re-reading of the book of Acts, especially chapters 2, 10 and 19, will build your faith, as faith comes by hearing the Word.

Everything we receive from God is by faith. This includes salvation, the infilling of the Spirit, and all His promises, including healing. This also includes praying in a heavenly language. So, just do it! Just prayerfully open your mouth and -- by faith -- do it. Step out of the boat of tradition and religion, and like Peter, walk on the water of faith. Your carnal mind, the devil and some believers will tell you that you are making it up and that it is just gibberish, and like Peter (who began to sink), you may think, "This can’t be happening!" but God will honor your faith. It is between you and God and no one else. You will be "uttering mysteries" in the Spirit to God. It has happened to many millions all over the world in every country and culture, for "The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call" (Acts 2:39).

IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT, HERE IS HOW YOU CAN, RIGHT NOW:

First, you must sincerely desire for God to fill you with Himself, which really means you must want God to totally have His way in your life. Because God is total love, total power and total wisdom, and He always has our best interest in mind, we all should want that. Anything else is irrational. Therefore, present every area of your life to God.

Second, confess to God any known sin in your life and by faith thank Him that He has forgiven your sins -- past present and future -- because Christ died for you. By faith claim His promise of forgiveness and cleansing according to 1 John 1:9.

Third, ask God to fill you with His Spirit. In a moment I will suggest a prayer. But remember, from Ephesians 5:18, which says, "be filled with the Spirit," we already know that it is His will for you. And we know that in 1 John 5:14-15, it says, " This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him." I repeat: it says, "…we KNOW that we HAVE (present tense) what we asked of him."

Fourth, remember that we always receive from God by faith, so receive this gift by faith, as an act of your will, and thank and praise God for answering your prayer and filling you with His Spirit.

Based on what God says about being filled with the Spirit, His COMMAND and His PROMISE to give you what you ask according to His will, here is a suggested prayer. If you agree with these words, pray them now, pray them to the Father, then believe, and you will receive.

Remember that in Mark 11:24 Jesus said, "I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

Here is the suggested prayer:

"Dear Father, thank you for forgiving my sins because Jesus died on the cross for me. Thank you for offering the fullness of your Spirit to me. I desire to serve you and that you have full control over my life. As you commanded, I desire to be filled with your Spirit, so I know it is your will. And you said that if I ask anything according to your will, and if believe that I receive, then I can have what I ask for and it is mine. Therefore, in the name of your Son Jesus, I ask for the fullness and power of your Holy Spirit to come upon me right now. I receive Him by faith, right now. I now thank you for answering this prayer and filling me with your Holy Spirit. Now use me for your purposes and your glory. In Jesus' name. Amen."

Continue to worship and praise God. Praise Him and pray to Him in a heavenly language. You may or may not experience physical or emotional feelings. That is not important. It is not based on feelings but on faith. Feelings may come now or later. The gifts of the Spirit may begin to flow through you immediately, or later, also by faith.

MY PERSONAL TESTIMONY

After seeking the Lord and being a believer for many years, and as soon as I saw it in the Word in 1971, I was filled with the Holy Spirit – by faith -- based on God’s COMMAND in Ephesians 5:18, and His PROMISE in 1 John 5:14-15. It was a real experience. My life began to immediately change, and fruit of the Spirit began to be manifested. Plus, just as Jesus promised in Acts 1:8, I received power to witness and became bold in sharing the gospel.

However, it was a few months later before I learned that when this happened to people in the book of Acts, they also spoke with tongues (see references above), and there is no biblical reason why we should not experience the same thing. I examined all the arguments otherwise and found them empty, typically ignoring critical Scriptures. I decided I wanted all God had for me, and after extensive study of the Word and prayer, I, too, began to pray in a heavenly language – by faith. Some say at that time I received the "baptism" in the Holy Spirit, but all I know is that after that, even though my witness for Christ was unchanged, I began to experience the supernatural. I began to see healings, miracles, demonic deliverances, and the various manifestations of the Holy Spirit listed in 1 Corinthians 12. I also discovered that when such like-minded believers met and worshiped together, there was an intensity of praise to and exaltation of Jesus and awareness of His presence that I had not seen anywhere else. This "baptism" (what Jesus called it in Acts 1:5), came when I purposely walked through that new door of faith and began to pray in the spirit. It was like walking into a new spiritual dimension. God met me there at my point of faith. He will you too.

While it is possible for anyone to quench the Spirit, if you have received the fullness of the Spirit’s power, you can, BY FAITH (see Mark 16:15-18), do the following:

Have a fresh new power to witness for Christ.**

Cast out devils, just like in the New Testament.**

Speak in new tongues, just like in the book of Acts, and later with Paul.**

Lay hands on the sick and they shall recover, just like in the New Testament.**

Be a more open vessel to experience other gifts or manifestations of the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12.

** Jesus said that, not me. If He said it, that settles it. Paul wrote,

"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God" (2 Corinthians 1:20). An important point often overlooked in this verse is that in Christ all of God’s promises to us are "yes," but to obtain them, we must "amen," or agree with God and affirm them by faith. The word amen means "so be it." The Enhanced Strong’s Lexicon says, "The word (amen) is directly related -- in fact, almost identical -- to the Hebrew word for ‘believe’ (amam), or faithful. Thus, it came to mean ‘sure’ or ‘truly,’ an expression of absolute trust and confidence."

May God bless and empower you to be His most effective servant and channel of His love in these last days.

HERE'S A WONDERFUL LIST OF MANY WORKS OF GOD IN KENYA FROM:

http://www.choicesforliving.com/spirit/part4/kenya1.htm

Another miracle story from Kenya

Below is another fascinating story from a reader:

The story that I have copied below is of such an astonishing nature,
that I sent it out by e-mail to dozens of people, some of whom also sent it out to dozens more, and some of them sent it out also. This message went all over the world within a couple of days after I released it. First, I received a message from a brother in Japan [who translated for Billy Graham] asking for the address and phone number of the pastor who conducted this revival. He wanted to get him to Japan to preach to the unbelievers there. Next I received a similar request from a lady in Poland, a brother in the Ukraine, one in Australia, and a pastor in North Carolina.

I received the following message from a brother in Kenya with whom I have been corresponding for about 18 years. On April 1, 2000, I received a letter in which he wrote:

About the first part of March, 2000, John K. Nduati, a pastor from Nairobi [the capital of Kenya], came to hold a 4-day crusade in my town, Eldoret, Kenya. There were very many miracles of healing and the word of knowledge was flowing freely. We stood in awe and amazement at what God was doing; the Holy Spirit reigned completely on the crusade ground. I have seen or read
about men and women of God with gifts of word of knowledge, word of wisdom, healing, etc.; however, what we saw in pastor Nduati was startling. What God has given him, I can describe as "a multitude of revelations," -words of knowledge and words of wisdom, plus prophecy. Following is just a little bit of what I witnessed:

On the second night [I missed the first night], there were thousands of people at the meeting. After the man of God finished his preaching, he said he wanted to start praying for people. He pointed in one direction and said, "There is a woman in the direction I am pointing whose husband is a driver.
Her name is Esther; where is she? [A woman lifted her hand.] Please come to the front." When the woman came forward, this is what she was told: "All the time you have been fed with stolen money. Your husband is a thief. But starting today, your husband will not steel again."

Then the man of God started calling very many people in the meeting by their own names -first and last names- to come forward. Where the names were alike, God would specify which one he wanted. As this continued for a long time, some people started questioning in their hearts how the man of God
knew people's names. Then the man of God said, "There is a young man at the back [he pointed] named John. You have been asking yourself, `How does he know the names of the people?' Where are you." The young man lifted his hand and the man of God said, "Come forward, I will also tell you about yourself."

When Pastor Nduati finished praying for the first group, all of them received their miracles. Most fell under the power of the Holy Spirit. Then the pastor stood and said, "There are forty people in this crusade who have AIDS-HIV positive. Come to the front." He counted 39 as they came; one was missing. Then the pastor stood and said, "There is a young man back there [pointing] named Philip Ruto. Your girl friend contacted you with AIDS last
year, and you have refused to come forward." I tell you, when his name was called, he ran forward. Everybody in the crusade laughed and clapped. The pastor prayed and the AIDS was gone immediately.

Then the pastor stood and said, "There are fifty women in this crusade who have no children. Come for prayers." Sixty women came forward. Then the man of God said, "Look at me. If you are here and you have no husband, you may go." A few women left. Then he continued, "If you are a second wife, you can go." One woman left. Then he continued, "If in the past you have aborted
twice, you may go." As one woman left, the man of God said to her, "I could not pray for you to have a child because you aborted and threw your kids into a toilet. One of the kids could have become a preacher. You must pray and repent for one year before God considers giving you a child."

Finally, fifty women were left standing. The pastor then told all of them to move to the right side. Then he said, "If I call your name, move to the left side." To everybody's amazement, as though the pastor had a list [he did not have one, he had never met the women], he started to have a roll call:

Esther, Jane, Chepchumba,........etc. As their names were called, they moved to the left and thus they were divided into two groups. To one group, he said, "You, tomorrow start shopping for boys' clothes. God is going to give you boys. [And to the other group:] You shop for girls' clothes. God will give you girls.." Then he pointed at one of the women and said, "With you, you will have to buy clothes for both a boy and a girl, because you are going to have twins." Then the man of God prayed for them.

When the pastor finished ministering, he asked how many people wanted to receive Jesus as their personal savior. About eight hundred people came and received Christ.

Third Day

This time, there were very many people in attendance. News must have spread in town about what God was going. After the man of God finished his preaching, he started ministering as he had done on the previous days. From among the thousands, very many people were called by their own names. Many AIDS cases and other problems were healed. Following are three cases which I
would like to report:

1. The man of God stood and said, "There is a woman in the direction I am pointing who has a son studying for a Master's degree in America. You have not heard from him for one month, and you have been wondering what is wrong. Lift up your hand, because I have just received information from America."
The woman lifted her hand. Then the pastor said, "There has been a problem. Your son has been sick, but from this time, which is 10 a.m. American time, your son has received instant healing." This time, the woman who had been called, happened to be our family's friend. We also know her son whose name is Mark. What the man of God had said was true. She shed many tears of joy.

2. Another case: The man of God stood and said, "There is a woman in the direction I am pointing who does not have a child. The one you have living with, you bought. Who are you?" The woman refused to lift her hand. Then the man of God called her by her name and said, "I want to pray for you to have your own child. The child you are living with was sold to you by nurses at
Eldoret District Hospital. You paid 12000 schillings. I now want to tell you that the real parents of the kid will come for it next Tuesday at 10:05 a.m." Two days ago, I met a sister who was with the relatives of the woman and they have confirmed what Pastor Nduati said.

3. Then the man of God stood and said, "There is a man who was sent in the morning by Satan to come and test me. When he arrived, Satan told him not to be afraid, but to move forward and do his disruptions. Well, he is here now, but all his powers are gone." To everybody's amazement, the man went forward, knelt down and the pastor prayed for him. He received Christ.

That night, when the pastor asked those who wanted to receive Christ, thousands lifted their hands.

Day 4

Things continued as on the previous day. I wish I could report to you everything, but I can only report a few cases.

During this day, several blind people received their sight. They walked home by themselves. Then several cripples walked. There was a lot of commotion as people sang and danced for joy. They clapped their hands and praised God.

One woman who was lame and could now walk, took the microphone. She led the people in singing and jumping for the Lord. She could really jump high. People cheered the more.

Robbers

Then the man of God started calling by name those robbers who were in the crusade. He even told when and where they stole, the name of their gang and their gang leader. Many came and received Christ.

Pastor Nduati has a licence from the police to collect illegal fire arms. Those who surrender and receive Christ in his meetings are never arrested. [My friend, Joseph Wangigi, who wrote the above letter, inclosed a picture of Pastor Nduati holding a pistol which was surrendered to him by a thug.]

Many people received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The crusade was scheduled to last four days, but people refused to let Pastor Nduati go back to Nairobi. People said they would pay his air fare if he would extend the crusade by one day. He accepted and the people became "wild." with enthusiasm. They cheered, shouted, jumped, and praised God. Again, there were more people attending the 5th day then the previous days. The ministry that I have described continued. Many healed, many needs met. At the end of the 5th day, when people realized that Pastor Nduati was going back to Nairobi, mobs ran after him to "touch his clothes," and they were receiving healing. He had to be whisked away by his security escorts. Otherwise, people were refusing to release him.
Before I conclude, let me tell you a few more things about pastor Nduati. He is a young man, and when he wanted to get married, he told God, "Father, I want to get married. There are many girls. I don't know what to do." Then God told him, "Get your vehicle and drive to Nyeri [a town about 100 kilometers from Nairobi]. When you reach Nyeri, go to Nyeri District Hospital. Outside the gate, you will find a woman sitting down. That is your wife." The pastor did that and outside the gate of the hospital, he saw a
woman doctor sitting. He greeted her and said, "I have been told you are my wife." The woman simply replied, "Yes, there is not problem. I will be your
wife." Today, she is the pastor's wife.
As a result of Pastor Nduati's meeting last Sunday, the churches in Eldoret were full to capacity because of the very many people who had made commitments to following Jesus at the crusade [including my church]. Glory to God.

Pastor Nduati is having the same problem at his church in Nairobi. His church is full to overflowing, and there is not enough room for all of the people. He doesn't know what kind of a church building to build.

Pastor Nduati has promised to come back to our town of Eldoret on June 23, 2000. From what I see, I perceive that God is doing something new in his church.

Let us be ready to receive his blessings.

- end of letter from Joseph Wangigi of Eldoret, Kenya -

Pastor John K. Nduati can be reached at: P.O. Box 6109, Nairobi, Kenya

About a month later, Joseph Wangigi wrote and added the following about

Pastor Nduati:
Last year [1999], Pastor Nduati was conducting a meeting in the Netherlands when met a young black man from Swaziland, South Africa, who had the AIDS disease. Pastor Nduati took him and healed him. The young man returned to Swaziland and told his father about what had happened to him. His father was
the king of Swaziland. He sought out Pastor Nduati and invited him to conduct a crusade in his country. The king sponsored or hosted the meeting in one of the biggest gathering places in the nation, and God blessed.

Go to link for chart. Very interresting!

OWNERSHIP OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE

Most Americans, if they know anything at all about the Federal Reserve, believe it is an agency of the United States Government. This article charts the true nature of the "National Bank."

Chart 1
Source: ** Federal Reserve Directors: A Study of Corporate and Banking Influence ** - - Published 1976

Chart 1 reveals the linear connection between the Rothschilds and the Bank of England, and the London banking houses which ultimately control the Federal Reserve Banks through their stockholdings of bank stock and their subsidiary firms in New York. The two principal Rothschild representatives in New York, J. P. Morgan Co., and Kuhn, Loeb & Co. were the firms which set up the Jekyll Island Conference at which the Federal Reserve Act was drafted, who directed the subsequent successful campaign to have the plan enacted into law by Congress, and who purchased the controlling amounts of stock in the Federal Reserve Bank of New York in 1914. These firms had their principal officers appointed to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and the Federal Advisory Council in 1914. In 1914 a few families (blood or business related) owning controlling stock in existing banks (such as in New York City) caused those banks to purchase controlling shares in the Federal Reserve regional banks. Examination of the charts and text in the House Banking Committee Staff Report of August, 1976 and the current stockholders list of the 12 regional Federal Reserve Banks show this same family control.
