BROTHERS

Let me share a secret,
Oh little brother mine.
A secret that will surely
stand the test of time.
Forever I'll remember
the special bond we share.
And through our lives I promise
to always love and care.
I have so much to show you
So can I be your guide?
I will share the things I've learned
along this bumpy ride.
It's not an easy world out there,
that much is surely true.
But as your big brother

I think we all grow up with a love/hate relationship with our siblings. We always fought like cats and dogs but just don't let anyone else bother my little brothers or sisters. (That was my job. Not really, my younger sister could beat the tar out of me) LOL

Brothers and Sisters

From where love came, we cannot see:
Perhaps, within us, born and bred,
Or taught to us at parent's knee,
Or instilled by God in heart and head.

Perhaps it sprang from some kind deed,
Which, long forgotten, yet has grown
To dazzling heights from one small seed
In the fertile soil of distress sown.

Respect rises up so far above
The pettiness of separate view;
Differences bow before a love
And friendship that is blood-bound,too.

The Laughter Of The Loon

The secrets of remote lagoon
From morning's blush of dawn,
Till rise of eve's nocturnal moon
Sung by her eerie song.

Such wonderment from wint'ry surd,
Soliloquy's mere tune.
Grand jubilance in summer's heard -
Uncommon sounds the loon.

Bespeckled pinions, grace in flight,
Resplendent is her plume.
Bemusing splash to see her light
Cavort about the flume.

Her serenade's a proud regale,
A songbird so unique.
How wondrous her falsetto wail
Reechoing mystique.

I'll not divulge the secret song
Of this remote lagoon.
I'd rather hearken years along
The laughter of the loon.

The Internet is one of the most remarkable developments of our time. How astounding that with a few keystrokes you can find out the address of Uncle Frank in Schenectady, New York, or the recipe for a Brazilian fish dish, or the statistics for your favorite athlete.

Of course, the Internet opens up a whole world of sinful choices as well. That's why many Internet providers offer a service to protect a family's computer from sites that promote immorality. One company used a comical-looking man dressed as a butterfly to represent the service, and in an advertisement showed him shielding children from various immoral activities.

Christians already have a similar resource, and it doesn't cost us a monthly fee. It's not the butterfly man—it's the Holy Spirit, who lives in the heart of each believer. As we seek guidance from God's Word and pray, He will enable us to detect and filter out the immoral. He can help us to keep from going where we shouldn't go, doing what we shouldn't do, and saying what we shouldn't say.

The world, like the Internet, has much we need to avoid. As we daily seek to "walk in the Spirit," relying on His wisdom and power, we can stay clean. —Dave Branon
