Marilyn Monroe (Norma Jeane Mortenson). Everyone has heard about her, most people know her story. She was an American actress, singer, model, she did it all. She became a popular sex symbol in the 50s and 60s, inspiring many women to chase their dreams and be themselves. Sadly, she passed away at the very young age of 36.
However, she still managed to achieve more things than most people do in a full lifetime. Marilyn was photographed by many photographers, including one photoshoot by Sam Shaw which is considered one of the most famous of her shoots
Just before she became a Kennedy play-thing.
Never attracted to her look. Slit-eyed most of the time in photos. Kinda ‘fluffy’ in the thighs. Has a look on her face that she’s not the brightest girl in the 10th grade.
You of course are welcome to your opinion. REM: my opinion is about her ‘look,’ not her as a person.
Lol: Funny correction!
by today’s Hollywood standards she would be sent to get lipo and a breast enhancement
She’s certainly not unattractive, but today you can go to any bar in America on Saturday and see ten equal to or better than her. Beauty standards have gone way, way up since the 50’s.
Fame did not bring happiness or satisfaction.
Promiscuity with numerous famous men did not bring happiness or satisfaction.
If anything, she should be an example of what not to do.
Way too meaty according to today’s supermodel standards, which is somewhere between holocaust victim and the threshold of starvation.
In Some like it hot Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis stare as Marilyn walks away, Jack says “looks like Jello on springs”.
Yes, Marilyn Monroe and her look were before my time. That cellulite on her behind would be a career-killer today, and to be a sex-kitten nowadays shed have to be getting in the sewer to compete with the likes of Nicki Minaj or Cardi B.
I’ve always thought that photography and motion pictures have really narrowed down what we consider ‘beautiful’ to what looks good in two dimensions. There are a lot of very attractive people who don’t have the kind of features that come across well on film.
"If you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best."
riiiight...
Now I want some fried artichoke hearts...
Going to Castroville for lunch...
After about six beers they all look more attractive than her. ;)
Y’know, somebody should write a song about her.
I haven’t been able to look at Marilyn Monroe the same since I read that many men refused to go out with her because of poor hygiene, even complaints from male costars in movies.
She was a troubled person. Beautiful, but troubled.
Before she was a kennedy plaything, she was a plaything for various, powerful people in hollywood. Agents, directors, producers, etc., when she was a struggling unknown. Because of that, she got away with being monumentally late to the set.
When she finally signed a big money, long term movie contract for the first time, her verbal reaction was “That’s the last #%$@ I’ll have to suck.”
“Shes certainly not unattractive, but today you can go to any bar in America on Saturday and see ten equal to or better than her. Beauty standards have gone way, way up since the 50s.”
Today, take away obesity and tat’s, women are way more attractive than 60 years ago.
Braces, cosmetic surgery and women are wage earners so they don’t need to marry the unnattractive male who could provide for them like they did decades past and produce ugly kids.
Size 12 then sure aint todays size 12!
