CALLING ALL BLOGGERS: "LET THE LINKING BEGIN..."

Someone asked me the other day... how much would it cost for them to place an "Ad" on the KMC Blog. Since I haven't accepted money for any advertising on my site I didn't know exactly what to tell them. Blogging is supposed to be fun - and for me that fun is nearly reward enough. Nearly, because I want to get better and better at it.

So while I don't think I would be accepting money for advertising any time soon on the site - I would like to help others out with the exposure that my weblog can bring them.

In 2003 I started my web-log with a puny 300 page views per week. In the early part of 2004 my average was bumped to near 8000 per week. And here half-way through June I am now averaging somewhere near 16,000 page views per week. Having said that I think you can see that placing an attractive banner ad on my page would help get your message, service, or blog promotion in front of numbers of eyes.

So here is what I would like to propose... It is now June 30th. For the next 15 days - I will run a contest. (And you don't even have to be aware of the contest to be able to win.) Here is how the contest will work... (AND YES BLOGS/SITES ARE ELIGIBLE EVEN IF THEY DISAGREE WITH ME POLITICALLY OR SOCIALLY OR BOTH)

Whatever blog page or web-site refers the most number of unique users to 'The Kevin McCullough' web-log ending on July15th (the next two weeks) - I will build a custom banner ad for and place it prominently in the "What's Hot" spot where the announcement about the KMC Cruise is now posted. That banner ad will get free placement for three months beginning August 1st. That's 90 days FREE prominent ad space.

Like I said you don't even have to be aware of the fact that this contest exists and I will reward you anyway - if you send me the most number of unique visitors.

Some general ideas that will give you an advantage:

1. Place a link to the "Kevin McCullough" blog on your blog page - somewhere easy for users to find...

2. Read my blog daily and link to it often - when you find things that you either find interesting or just didn't know about...

3. Alert me to special things that you do in order to refer people to my site - and encourage me to check out the placement of your "KMC Links" as well.

4. You will also earn bonus points (in the event of a tie) - 7 points each - for also linking to one of the KMC Network Blogs. These blogs are a tight but extremely special bunch of friends who keep great blogs. KEVIN McCULLOUGH, THE DAWN PATROL, RAY PRITCHARD/CROSSWALK, FIRE ANT GAZETTE, BROKEN MASTERPIECES, and HUGH HEWITT.

5. You will earn DOUBLE your total referral score (all of the referrals you send + bonus points x 2) if you link all of the KMC Network as a small section unto itself in your sidebars...

My tracking software is already counting...the clock is now ticking...so may the "Best Blog Win"...

I've heard of link whoring, but this is positively denominational! ;)

Article links are ephemeral. If you want a recip link, I'm down with that, tho.
