Ack. One of the hardest things about Gaelic. Their system of enumeration (counting) is based on 20, not 10. Although 10 is used now too.

(Minor oddity I picked up somewhere -- both Arabic and Farsi write numbers the way we do, big digits on the left, small on the right, but in Arabic they say the number right-to-left, just as the text flows, but in Farsi although text is read right-to-left the numbers is said in the same order we have: left-to-right.)

Interesting. Hebrew handles numbers oddly, too: "Two and thirty and six hundred," 632. 18th and 19th Century English read the ones first, "one-and-twenty," and of course that's how we get "fourteen," four-and-ten.
