In 2010, she wore red. In 2011, she wore white. So, what did Michelle Obama wear in 2012? A politically-charged, patriotic shade of blue. The First Lady looked regal in a short-sleeved, sapphire-blue, Barbara Tfank dress Tuesday evening for the President's State of the Union address. Tfank, a New York and Los Angeles-based designer, prides herself upon designing pieces that are "timeless." [Snip] The First Lady's hair and makeup looked perfectly elegant as well... and we're dying to see some photos of her shoes.

Infuriated lower Manhattan residents went ballistic on Zuccotti Park protesters at a chaotic Community Board 1 meeting tonight while blasting politicians for allowing the siege to continue without any end in sight. "They are defecating on our doorsteps," fumed Katherine Hughes, a stay at home mom who has the misfortune of living one block from the chaos. "A lot of people are very frustrated. A lot of people are concerned about the safety of our kids." Fed up homeowners said that they've been subjected to insults and harassment as they trek to their jobs each morning. "The protesters taunt people...

Wachs has been prominent in her opposition to prayer at public meetings and challenged the constitutionality of the sheriff donating jail basketball hoops to Polk County churches. An arrest affidavit said she was arrested following a Saturday morning dispute with a neighbor. According to the affidavit, the 10-year-old boy was playing basketball when Wachs yelled through her open bedroom window for him to stop. The boy was joined outside by...

A Jefferson High School dance coach was free on bail Tuesday after her arrest on allegations she had a relationship with an 18-year-old male student, officials said. Destini Michelle Munoz, 25, was released from a holding cell at the city magistrate's office after posting $15,000 bail around 9:50 a.m., charged with one count of being involved in an improper relationship between an educator and a student, Bexar County records show. San Antonio Independent School District police and the Texas Rangers arrested her about 11 p.m. Monday. A student told her mother about Munoz's alleged relationship, and the parent called district...

With her husband facing electoral oblivion at next week's mid-terms, Michelle Obama is clearly prepared to do anything she can to help. Whether showing off her dance moves on Ellen was a politically astute gimmick, however, remains to be seen. The First Lady appeared on the daytime chat show just hours after her husband went on The Jon Stewart Show in a desperate attempt to woo younger voters. The President has been attacked for appearing on a comparatively lightweight show hosted by a comedian. At one point Stewart even called him 'dude', the first time word has been used...

Of course, the subtitle of Sarah Palin’s book is “An American Life.”Because she is the lovely avatar of real Americans — ordinary, hard-working, God-fearing, common-sense, good, ordinary, real Americans. If you are not living an American life, you are, to use a Palin coinage, living “bass-ackwards.”(snip) I approached reading her book with trepidation, worried I might learn that I am not a real American, dang it, just another dreaded, jaded “enlightened elite.”

March 18, 2009 Michelle Obama's toned arms spark a trend Dress designers and Michelle Obama have developed an obsession with toned biceps. Is this a new kind of low-key status symbol, asks our Fashion Editor Lisa Armstrong Who knew that when the faintest dimple on the mountain of Michelle Obama adulation manifested itself, it would be incurred by the First Lady's propensity to display her biceps? It began, as barely perceptible dips in adulation (and concurrent spikes in envy) often do, when she appeared on the March cover of American Vogue. The accompanying gallery, in which the First Lady's fine...

Barbra Streisand made a political pit stop at the palatial pad of Sen. John Kerry the other night, shortly after the Demmie diva mocked President Bush from the stage at the TD Banknorth Garden.According to our Streisand spies, the Funny Girl and her hubby, James Brolin, pulled up to 19 Louisburg Square after midnight in a rather un-divalike minivan for a late-night supper and political gabfest with her fave Boston liberal and his daughter, Alexandra. Earlier in the evening, after belting out “Happy Days Are Here Again” during the soapbox portion of the show, Streisand told the throng “I hope,...

Gingrich, without saying it aloud, has been running as hard as he can for the '08 GOP Presidential Nomination -- And when Newt does anything, he does it full-tilt. Until now I have thought his chances were nil -- Too many successes that libs would never forget, and too many failures that conservatives would never forgive. I've changed my mind. When I look at the list of potential GOP candidates, I can't think of anyone that has more long-term vision, more drive and energy, and more understanding of how to get things done in the short-term, than Newt. Just take...

Many Straight Guys Say 'No Thanks' to 'Brokeback Mountain' BY DRU SEFTON It's true, the movie "Brokeback Mountain" does provoke what one researcher calls "a very strong ick factor" in some straight men. What is it in this story of two cowboy pals in 1960s Wyoming who find themselves in lifelong love -- yet go on to marry women -- that elicits this response from heterosexual males? The answers are as complex as the plot. A psychologist who coined the word "homophobic" said the revulsion is precisely that. A scientist who discovered genetic links to sexuality said he simply does...
