The Young Women’s Christian Association has a long history of partnering with the abortion chain Planned Parenthood. This week in Nebraska, the two groups worked together to present a workshop about systemic racism and women who have been incarcerated, the Daily Nebraskan reports. College student Amanda Lofland said she plans to attend the workshop because she wants to create positive change for future generations. “This stuff is all around us, and people cannot sit around and be ignorant about it, especially because it affects people’s everyday lives and the lives of future generations,” she told the newspaper. She is right....

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma state senator was booked Thursday on child prostitution charges for allegedly hiring a 17-year-old boy for sex, leading to calls for his resignation and a separate internal investigation into his years of work with a youth program. Ralph Shortey, a 35-year-old conservative Republican who has a wife and three young daughters, surrendered to authorities on charges of engaging in child prostitution, transporting a minor for prostitution and engaging in prostitution within 1,000 feet of a church. He was released after about two hours on a $100,000 bond. "I have no comment at this time,...

For those millions of women and girls who have been victims of sexual assault and abuse, being confronted by a man in the restroom or locker room is a real trauma trigger. Recent moves by the Obama Administration seem designed to make them silent victims once more. This week on Freedom Matters, Kaeley Triller, a sex abuse survivor, joins Bob, Kerri, and Matt to share her story and talk about the unintended victims of new bathroom and locker room policies. Kaeley was fired by the YMCA for standing up against a new policy that opened its bathrooms and locker rooms...

The Young Men's Christian Association, or YMCA as it's been called since 1844, was founded to get poor boys and girls off the streets and into a Christian environment. Today I went into my local YMCA and noticed something right away. The bathrooms that used to say "Female" and "Male", now say "Gender Neutral" instead of Man and Female. They also have a "Gender Neutral" dressing room. This new bathroom designations for homosexual rights crowd are a disgrace and insult to this once great organization founded on Christian principles. I asked one of the young girls working in the Y...

FARGO, N.D., May 14 (UPI) --A North Dakota elementary school will not be allowing the young men and women in a first-grade class to perform YMCA at a talent show because a parent dubbed the planned performance "racist." Students at Bennett Elementary School in Fargo were supposed to sing the famous Village People song during a May talent show. The kids were supposed to come up dressed up like members of the '70s group - a policeman, a cowboy, a biker, a construction worker and a Native American. Parent Elaine Bolman found it offensive that her daughter or her classmates...

A doughnut shop chain won't be selling doughnuts at a new Massachusetts location. Quincy's licensing board this week approved a plan for Honey Dew Donuts to open a shop inside the city's new $30 million YMCA. Sara Trubiano, YMCA spokeswoman tells The Patriot Ledger that the elimination of the sweet treat fit with the the Y's focus on physical fitness. “It’s definitely tailored to the healthy lifestyle the Y supports,” she said.

Wake up, conservatives -- and Christians. We're getting our rear ends handed to us, and we'll continue to if we don't do a better job of fighting back. I'm not just talking about electoral politics. Liberal and secular activist groups are as aggressive as ever and winning, energized and enabled by this most radical of administrations -- and equally so by deer-in-the-headlights conservatives. The latest episode in this particular series of unfortunate events involves the Y's rolling over to the relentless bullying of pro-abortion activists to evict Students for Life of America from its facilities. These self-depicted arbiters of tolerance...

A group of pro-life students from around the nation who’ve gathered in Austin, Texas this week for an abortion protest at the state capitol has been banned from a local YMCA after pro-choice activists complained about the students using the facility’s showers. Students for Life of America (SFLA) had made arrangements with the Town Lake Branch of the Austin YMCA to use their showers during their week-long pro-life protest, the group’s spokesperson Alexa Coombs told Fox News. About 56 members of the group are being housed in local churches that don’t have showers. The Washington, D.C.-based pro-life organization had received...

BEIRUT (Reuters) - Terry Waite, back in Lebanon for the first time since he was freed from years of captivity at the hands of Islamic militants, says he would gladly meet his erstwhile kidnappers. "I wouldn't mind meeting with them at all," the former Church of England envoy said on arrival at Beirut airport. "I'm sure that they have changed, that they have grown and developed, just as much as I have." Waite, who had helped free Western hostages held by extremists in Libya, Iran and Lebanon, came to Lebanon in 1987 to negotiate more releases. Accused of being a...

GRAND RAPIDS, MI—Scott Allan Herrick, 40, of Twin Lakes, Michigan, was sentenced to serve 95 years in prison, U.S. Attorney Donald A. Davis announced today. Herrick surreptitiously videotaped boys as they were dressing in the boys’ locker room in the YMCA in Muskegon and kept a massive collection of 100,000 images of child pornography with him at the Gerber Boy Scout Camp in Twin Lakes, Michigan. He was convicted at trial of three counts of attempting to produce child pornography. On the first day of trial, Herrick pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing child pornography and one count of...

I can’t make this up. Inspired by the YMCA when it was founded in 1928, the Muslim Brotherhood has been under a ban since 1948, and its real size is difficult to gauge. The group was brutally repressed by President Gamal Abdel Nasser in the 1950s and 1960s. Since then, it has at times been propped up as a foil – especially for Western audiences – with periodic crackdowns that have sent many of its members to prison. In what way was the Muslim Brotherhood “inspired by” the YMCA?

The YWCA, which was set up in 1855 to help young women going to London for the first time, has now become "Platform 51". The name was chosen because 51 per cent of people are female and "women use us as a platform for having their say and for helping them into the next stage of their lives". The rebranding is likely to raise questions among the charity's donors, many of whom give to it because of the organisation's Christian links. However, officials at the World YWCA headquarters in Geneva told the Daily Mail that none of the 124 branches...

He's a lost Claus. A politically correct West Village YMCA has fired Ol' St. Nick in favor of Frosty. Kids who once thrilled at sitting on Santa's lap at the 14th Street McBurney YMCA's wildly popular annual holiday luncheon will now suffer the icy embrace of a talking snowman and his sidekick, an anonymous penguin, at today's event. Forget about bringing a list or checking it twice -- Frosty doesn't take gift requests, and doesn't care if you're naughty or nice. YMCA officials, who say they are in the midst of "rebranding" the Young Men's Christian Association to "The Y,"...

"...Imam Rauf’s project is better known here now as the “Ground Zero mosque,” after the term for the World Trade Center site. Families of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and conservative politicians have mounted an emotional campaign to block it, claiming that locating it only two blocks north of the site was a provocation. “We repeatedly say we are neither a mosque nor within Ground Zero, but they just shout back ‘Ground Zero mosque,’ ‘Ground Zero mosque,’” Imam Rauf, 61, told Reuters in an interview. The planned building will have a prayer room for Muslims, he said, but...
