FULL TITLE: Democratic Socialists convention is ridiculed as a 'meeting of snowflakes' after one delegate complains his 'sensory overload' has been triggered by 'whispering' - accidentally sparking a debate over gendered nouns Delegates at the Democratic Socialists of America convention are being ridiculed on social media after videos of them interrupting their 'comrades' to complain of being 'triggered' by chattering crowds and the use of gendered pronouns went viral. The 2019 DSA National Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, concluded on Sunday but is still inspiring conversation online, particularly among those who are opposed to the Democratic Socialist ideals. As its national influence has risen, the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has simultaneously grown more extreme. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the group’s “Red Rabbits” initiative. The Red Rabbits Security Commission, a subgroup within the DSA focused on “community defense” efforts, is, according to its authorizing resolution, preparing for a “national uprising against federal agents and police brutality.” In practice, that means training cadres in tactics like armed and unarmed self-defense, blocking intersections, and fighting “fascists” with umbrellas. A recent panel offered an unprecedented window into what the project looks like. Organizers from Minnesota, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia,...

It was the film that traumatised a generation of children, with its much-loved rabbit characters slain on screen in graphic and memorable scenes. But the story of Watership Down is to be remade for a new era, as programme-makers promise to tone down its most brutal images. The BBC has teamed up with Netflix for one of the most expensive mini-series ever made for the small screen, and the first animated four-part drama of its kind. The new version stars the voices of James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult as Hazel and Fiver, Sir Ben Kingsley as General Woundwort and Star...

Sorry for the one day delay of the discussion of the next book on the Freeper Reading Club list---Traveller, written by Richard Adams who also wrote Watership Down. I was busy yesterday putting together the FR Comedy Hour Broadcast set for tomorrow. Anyway, did anybody read both of those Adams' books? If so, how did Traveller compare to Watership Down?
